Rand's hats Billings mt 🤠👍👍👍 As a native of Montana I grew up wearing hats of all kinds. Cowboy hats are useful here... No ranch required. As for my choice of a good store bought hat Stetson was the best followed by Resistol. Haven't had to buy a new felt in years now but I would get a new Rand's hat out of Billings mt if I was in the market.
The front of the brim is a tell tale. The more pointy the brim in the front, the more it is a fashion statement (look at Glen Ford back in the 50's and 60's), wide and flatter the more it is a working mans hat.
@@soulfirez4270 Hey Mate, that’s true, not in B C. The nearest one is in Alberta. I am wearing hats made by Akubra and Brahma. I bought them when I visited Cairns years ago.
@@kenlee2230 Nice spot , bet it was a touch warm for you though ? I know Canada is comparable in size to AUS I honestly thought there would be a stronger hat culture there ( being cold and all ) I say that having only ever been to Toronto and whistler( that spot was a touch cold for me and I went when it was warmer lol ) .Again I havent looked into it but i thought the fur trade would have been more of a thing there.
I spent 5 years in SW Montana and very few people wore cowboy hats there. I guess mountain ranchers are a different breed than eastern MT ranchers. Not only did the ranchers not wear cowboy hats, very few people anywhere did.
I think people try and present these terms like “regular cowboy brim” as being more set in stone terminology than they actually are. Many of these names vary regionally or mean something different in different places. It’s a mix of marketing and just human nature to want to put catchy names to the shapes of these hats but it unfortunately does an injustice to the nuance and subtly of what the correct hat shape for your personal head and face can accomplish ecstatically. People end up wearing shapes that are incorrect for their head and face simply because it has a catchy name and whoever famous bull rider or whatever wears a cattleman with a George brim.. go to 3 different hatters and ask for that you’ll get three different albeit somewhat similar hats. This is an inaccurate and dumbed down way to describe hat shapes.
Because most of us that wear them all the time for work and grew up in ranches know that old school cowboys never switched to fricking straw hats. We wear our hats year round.
Felt hats stay on your head better in windy weather and turn water better than straws or caps, also warmer in cool weather! Wore them my whole life, in Oklahoma!!
Websites like Boot Barn occasionally have some hats at a lower price range. If your area has any, try going to a Mexican western wear store. Those stores sometimes have brands from Mexico that are priced a little lower than the big American brands.
What you're looking for, is a hat with a "CHL" (stands for Cool Hand Luke) crown and a 4.5 -4 7/8 brim. Someone said his hat is from Knudsen, but American Hat Co. Has several just like this in felt and straw available online. Also, it IS an older style of hat, but that crown made a resurgence in the early-mid teens, is super popular amongst rodeo folks, and regionally popular with working cowboys...oddly Walker seems to have real strong ties to Texas, even though everything about what he wears screams northern cowboy/buckaroo.
More fad stuff I have several Resistols that are probably older than most that watch that show. I wear them to keep the burning sun off my head. I don't have or want cable or satellite so thankfully I can't watch this show. What happened to all the backwards cap wearing wannabe DJs ? Is that fad finally over with? Ha Ha

This is the best video!!! Thanks I need to add a few more hats to my collection

Recently got an Ocho Rios by Resistol. Ordered from Sheplers, and was blown away by 2 day delivery to Europe.
I believe that Burns 1876 Shop out of park city also made a few hats for John and Beth that appeared in more recent seasons.
They did. I have one, wonderful hats
Oh thanks! I was wondering who made Beth’s hat.
Walkers hat is from Knudsen. More specifically the 7x if Im not mistaken. Id love to go and have a pure beaver hat made!
Informative video, appreciate it
I got the exact hat Costner wears from Greely its just going to take about 16 weeks for arrival.
Good for you!
How’s she treating ya? 🤠
Burns Saddelry started making hats for them in season 3. You can tell the difference in shape etc. the chocoalte John wears is the main one to notice.
I proudly own a hat from Greely.
We wear Greeley too.
You guys are lucky. It’s so hard for me me to get a nice felt hat here in B.C., Canada. I have to wait for a year to get a Stetson that will fit me.
MASSIVE delays in hats these days (even in The Wilds of Arizona) - so you're not alone, sadly.
That sucks ,seriously you dont have a fur felt hat manufacturer there , I am in Australia and even we have akubra and a couple smaller ones .

Would you give information on the hats from 1883 TV series? Please?
Lonehawkhats does Tim's hat

Jimmy wears an American Hat Co in recent season.
I like Jake's hat.
Another hat maker is JW Brooks. He makes Taylors
Actually my favorite character is the blonde. Guys strut around all tough but you could use her to light a match
I need a hat.
I've always preferred the Clint Black hat
No mention of Rip's hat style or manufacture?
@1:32 into the video.
I was hoping to find out about Loyd's hat which you didn't even mention
Loyds hat is easily the coolest in the show
Its an American and so is Walkers….How do I know? I got mine at the same place. The Best Hat Store in Ft Worth Stockyards.
@@OkinawaSurf82 American use to be all I wore, but can't find them in Colorado anymore, so now I wear Stetson.

I should clarify I enjoyed this video and my comments are more directed to how we think of these concepts in general and not the content of this video
Avery is buckaroo style hat
Why are they wearing felt hats year round in Yellowstone?
Did you go to their shop and have it custom measured?
Because most of us that wear them all the time for work and grew up in ranches know that old school cowboys never switched to fricking straw hats. We wear our hats year round.
walk up to any old cowboy and ask that same question

Jimmy's hat is Stetson
It’s an American Hat Co hat. You can see their logo pin on the band in a couple shots. He may have a second one that I missed, but his primary is AHC

So no any hat from Stetson?
John sutton sometimes wears a black hat made by stetson that is simply the Skyline 6x
Also burns cowboy shop out of Utah made Beth’s and the chocolate color john wears
Exactly. I was going to comment the same thing
The light brown hat looks like the Resistor George Strait Ocho Rios....

Yellowstone did for cowboys, what sons of anarchy did for bikers👎
Always interested in what actors, who pretend to be cowboys, wear for cowboy hats...not really...
