- Get to know about the EDGE ZERO
The Edge-Zero has a sharp knife-edge for extremely accurate tremolo playing.
This tremolo also uses Ibanez innovations to keep string action constant and the bridge surface smooth. The specially designed arm socket prevents unnecessary wobble from the arm while providing full control over the arm's torque.
The ZPS3 is the next stage of zero point systems. Made of lightweight Duralumin, the addition of two outer springs makes the guitar easier to tune and provides much greater tuning stability. In fact, the other strings will stay in tune even if you break a string. If you prefer a full floating tremolo setup, simply remove the stop bar. Видеоклипы
5:30 "you want your tremolo to look like this" ZOOMS IN ON BRIDGE PICKUP
lol, this guy talked me out of a floating trem.
@@dwojcik1000 They really are wonderful things the tuning isn't an issue
Ibanez continues to improve their tremolos! Such an amazing company.
It’s been awhile since I’ve played an Ibanez. Been playing PRS & Gibson. I’m looking to get back into an RG and relive my younger years 🙂
I'm very new to Ibanez guitars and systems so i thought i'd learn about them.
I found this video very informative, thanks.
this video was very helpful. I was having intonation problems and I just solved them. And even the stud bolts were not locked but I adjusted them.
Thank you so much for this...i'd searched all over for this info.
Very helpful
Thank you sir! Very informative and extremely useful for setting up my Ibanez S770PB. This video is applicable to the EDGE ZERO II as well. Excellent!
Yeah. That only problem now is pretty much that both bridges suck compared to the original Edge :D
Looks awesome, would love to try it.
Thanks for the great explanation man...I was wondering on why I couldn't do that flutter thing perfectly no matter how hard and perfectly I try,Your video taught me that it was the sub springs, they were stopping it,I removed those sub springs and boom the flutter is perfect.... Thank you man, keep up the good work and also thanks for explaining the spring tension thing too, that rolling ball was confusing me,I didn't know which way to turn it..Thank you I know it now..
Awesome video. So glad I own Ibanez guitars. Thank you, Ibanez!!
Nice, simple instructions. Very well done!
it would be nice to get a video like this for the edge 2
Meaning its simpler to adjust but not that stable :)
@SmeefMemes I fucking hate the edge 2
Yes please
i thought the edge II was the brain fart idea that doesn't use a locking nut
@@hawkinthewind Edge Zero 2 has a locking nut.
AWESOME! Old but good content. THanks.
Great video man. Thanks alot for posting this instructional video.
This video is VERY misleading about how the tension adjustment works. I'm gonna emphasize the explanation so anyone scrolling through the comments might see this. YOU MUST RE-TUNE EVERY TIME YOU ADJUST THE TENSION KNOB IN THE BACK. THE ACT OF TURNING THE KNOB ALONE WILL NOT LEVEL YOUR BRIDGE. THE SUBSEQUENT RE-TUNING IS WHAT ACTUALLY LEVELS THE BRIDGE.
@michael wilson I didn't
Thanks!
Thank you dude
well I think it's something anyone could get, it's like when you change spring tension in any other floating bridge guitar (at least I didn't hear him saying it's not necessary).
This is so much more covenient than Edge 3 tremolo...I so freakin' want one!!!
I've had an Ibanez with the ZR trem for a couple years. Didn't even know what that knob was for, lol! Thanks for the info!
Man that is a true improvement!!! I really like that "Spring adjustment knob" tool!!! You guys ROCK!!!
good stuff, thanks , this sorted my intonation issue on string G which was annoying
Thanks,really healped.
this guitar right here is the best solid body for rock on my opinion
Thanks!.that's just informative, man👍I have a RG series and I'm gonna try setting it perfectly straight!..and SUBSCRIBED👍
nice presentation thanks
Great explanation! Have always wondered whats the difference between various Ibanez bridges!
This is really useful. My edge zero works well. And the "prestige tool" is a good idea too.
That was fantastic ....just got an S series Premium with an Edge 2 and the bugger wouldn't flutter lol! Thanks
best video ever made
4:40 Thanks a lot, that was a great, great help. I’m sitting here with my brand new Ibanez and was a bit worried because I didn’t thought it could be fixed. Do I just love RUclips, or what.
Love my Prestige, but I really like good old Bigsby trems.
@stefanoskoleniaris
Yes you would just need less spring tension because you have less String tension. Just loosen the springs until it is at the right level.
Thanks!!!
I feel like sneaking behind him and taking all those guitars.
This guy must be the strongest guy on earth turning this fckn spring tension thumb wheel like he don't give a shit
Great video. You should make a video about the Edge 3
i like how emmure became ibanez's opening music for every single one of their videos
lovely guitar ;)
@Krauser1226 Thanks for the details mate, I also have the ZR on my S470 and I think it's decent and very stable.
It's a rg 3570z lb. Great guitar. Have one myself.
This is a fantastic Trem, I have used it on quite a few occasions now; having said that, I still prefer an Original Floyd Rose system.
I have an RG1570Z Prestige with the Edge Zero trem. This video has fantastic information. I didn't understand what the intonation tool was for until viewing this!
My guitar was setup extremely well from the factory, but after watching this, I feel confident in being able to work on the bridge myself, when required, instead of paying a tech.
i want this guitar !!!!!!!!!!!!
gracias ¡¡¡
@Weston guidero yea after adjusting the height check the innotation
Hi
Ive got an ibanez universe uv70p. The trem doesnt seem to 'snap in' as you mentioned in your video and it goes very loose after using it, which means I have to keep re-tightening it.
Can you help?
Thanks
nice!!!
Nice video! Very useful, is it possible to lubricate the tuners in the edge zero?, i feel them very stiff, thank you!
3:45 “allows you to adjust your string tension with just a simple turn” proceeds to struggle to turn. No seriously my burning thumbs disagree
Yeah its not easy . I had to stick a alan key into the holes on the thumb nut to turn it
You got that right. A simple turn my ass.
I had the same issue and got fed up. I opened the cover and put a little bit of oil on the screw near the "diamond indicate thingy" and between the knob and the sheetmetal. Now it still is not the nicest knob I have ever turned, but alot better than before. I could barely turn it and my thumb was bruning.
Just got this trem and couldn't turn the knob was starting to get worried. Your comment shows that is normal thanks lol.
@@brandonknight4945 no problem. Forgot I made this comment and laughed. I will say it got somewhat easier over time if you kept using it. I still have mine to this day
@geartars It's on the side of the tremolo.
In the beginning , it's a song by Emmure.
I'm glad I've connected to the guru of Ibanez tremelos. So I recently got a RG350DXZ. And I'm finding unless I bring the tension to its lowest setting nearly on the bolt on the back, everytime I tune it all the other strings will detune by the time I finish. What does it sound like I need to do? Now that I set the bolt at nearly the lowest tension it stays in tune, but if I add any more attention it constantly goes out of tune as I tune it.
Hi very good tutorial. question, im going to set up my ibanez premium 920, with strings caliber 10, so if we take a look (view) in the back of the guitar, in the spring adjustment knob, to adjust moore or less tension to the neck, i ask in what precise "mark" (little line .. i think there are 6 little indicator lines, ...you mention something in time 6:24 or 6:25 of youre video) it has to be??? thanks, and sorry for my bad english im from mexico.
Great video chat lease can you tell me which way up the little plastic bush goes in on the tremolo arm and where it goes please.
Adjusting the two mwin pivot screws with tension on the will dull the pivot knives.
if i tighten the locking stud bolt, would that make it a fixed bridge?and then will it be easy for me to tune to whatever drop tuning?
Helo Ibanez... I recently bought my new ibanez premium Rg1070pbz I usually keep my action low but the problem is that I am having some string buzz problems on my guitar...could you please make a review on Rg1070pbz for a full setup including action height adjustments tross rod adjustment etc......
Hi everyone, good video. I am new to Ibanez's and playing. I have been playing for about a year now but on an epiphone SG400, but just recently got a Ibanez S670QM with the Edge Zero II bridge. My questions is how to change tunings? I tried to tune it to e-flat tuning, but it kept going out of tune as soon as I had finished. So I put in back to e standard, but took 4 times to hold the tuning. Any help, or another video as good as this one that explains the edge zero II and how to set up different tunings, would be much appreciated.
Just to let everybody know I just got a rg450dx and I just set up my guitar for drop c xD lol it not that hard. The only thing I noticed is when I do a dive bomb the tuning on all string will go down one cent and when I I pull up it goes up one cent which the human ear can't even hear. All you have to do is block of the tremelo in the parallel position with something in the back of it the tune the guitar with the nuts near the head stock off. Then after you tune it take the off the block then adjust the springs back in a parallel position it should come back close to tune. make sure you put the fine tuners at mid point. Then once you tune the guitar get a feeler gauge and press down at the first and last fret and check how much space is at the twelfth fret make so its in between .3-.5mm.Then if you needed to make adjustment check the tuning again.Remember we are doing all this while the tremelo is blocked off I'm a parallel position. Then go to the fifteenth fret and check the height on the first and last string. The first string being the smallest one needs to be like 1.3-1.5mm and the last string need to be 2.0-2.2mm if you have a thicker gauge you may have to up this a bit because bigger string vibrate wider. After you have check the height.Tune the guitar again and check intonation by freting the open note then going to the twelfth fret press it and compare it to the open note.If the note if flate you need to loosen the saddle screw for the string your trying to adjust,BUT MAKE SURE THERE IS NO TENSION ON THE PARTICULAR SPRING BECAUSE IT WILL GET PULLED FOWARD REALLY FAST AND MAY DO DAMAGE ALSO DO NOT ADJUST HEIGHT WHILE THERE IS TENSION ON THE SPRINGS IT WILL MESS UP YOUR KNIFE EGDE.What I did to get tension off of the spring was do a dive bomb and hold it there with tape.MAKE SURE EVERYTIME YOU RETUNR YOUR GUITAR DURING THE ADJUST MENTS TO BLOCK IT BACK OFF.It just make things easier trust me.
This is very helpful. thank you.
Where can I find parts for this tremolo? I need the arm, the arm holder and the locking stud bolts. Thanks
@comedybenj thos one, the edge zero II, the ZR's and the synchroniZR are. but theyre also the easiest to set up and use
@ibanez guitars does this bridge system allow for an EVH D tuna instalment?
Hi.. I have an Ibanez rg370dxz.. As i was re-stringing my guitar.. i removed one of the string stopper screw but the 'T' shaped structured which was supposed to get loose never did anything.. it remains with the same tension and i cant remove that old string.. any help will be appreciated.. THANKS
I forgot about the setup when I heard the intro xD \m/
Hey there. I was wondering it was possible to install a set of emg pickups in an Ibanez RG350MP? It has the Ibanez Zero II tremolo system in it. I think I'm gonna have to route the pickup holes a little more. is there room?
hi , I and my friends need a video on how to do a full set up for an ibanez sa series SAT Pro II tremolo bridge...thank you
Dude STUD LOCKS omg. You just saved a guitar here.
thanx mike......n i think da 950qm gud.....i guess i will go for your advice!!!.....thanx again
I accidentally turned the knob and now I have a ton of fret buzz and I have no clue where it was originally at. I removed the zps and put it back in but it’s still buzzing. Any suggestions?
5:05 I removed the two springs in order to get a more loose tremolo. The Guitar feels much better to play now, but it wont stay in tune and gets flat everytime i use the trem. Whats wrong?
Cool
i want that pink saber in the back!! its totally badass!!!
btw: i think it would be way cooler having to use only one allen wrench instead of 2 and, just like the screwed in thing on the top of the tremolo, have it put on the guitar somewhere easily accessible yet not lossable (is that a word?)
make sure that your nut itself is actually tight on the guitar... sometimes the nut can come loose on the guitar so you need to tighten the screws that hold it on.
it does stay in tune but only in the non trem mode
And lastly i want a tremolo system that can stay locked in a CGCFAD tuning after being dived bomb'd and pull up'd after a long period of time without having to tuning it everyday? What do u reccomend i do? My Ibanez trem on my rg5ex1 sux!
can you upload a a video on restringing a edge zero with heavier gauge strings
Ibanez = METAL.
Do I have to do anything before I add more spring tension or do I just do it mate
Great design.....one question....why the hell aren't all these designs incorporated in the Edge Zero II bridge....??
Even after tightening the torque nut my tremelo is free spinning...of my 2550z , 2012 model...what can be done ??
@kyusoon11 It's by Emmure I can't remember the song title though.
Alright I'm starting to understand since my tremolo was pointing upwards I need to add more spring tension. So I have done that before but after doing so it seemed impossible to tune. Do I understand that you can't tune one string at a time but you got to do them all up gradually?
Yep. You probably worked it out by now
does the knob in the back only have in the edge zero or in the edge zero ii too?
I have 2 questions
1. What is the guitar in this video
2. Can i get a video about ZPS3Fe
thanks now I know how to tune my axe right
does the bar get loose when you move it around like on an original floyd rose?
there could be slight differences, but, i have already had a RG920 Premium, and a yellow XXV 25th Anniversary, and the fine tuning screws (on the bridge), they begin to get worn faster than on a Prestige series :(
Do i need to loosen the neck bolts before i remove the Sub springs?
I'm trying to set mine up to play really low but i get a fret buzz do i need to adjust the neck angle to stop the notes from cutting out or do i need to file the frets
@LOMAZ5150 My locking nut is just tightened to the point where I feel resistance. About the string tension... I'm not quite sure. I can use the trem to an extent, but more than that makes the guitar go out of tune. Maybe it's the tension. I'll have a look at it, I think.
Hey guys i need real help, you see, i bought myself yesterday a Cort X 6 with the same Edge Zero system as in the video, except this guitar does not have the wheel at the back for adjusting spring tension. So I'm having problems like shown on 5:50 where the spring is actually lifted up. Any can explain me how to adjust spring tension on such model to get it to its zero point?
I just bought my first Floyd Rose-equipped guitar. Watching this demo it seems that the Ibanez system is a bit easier to manage. Not saying it's a better trem, just that it appears to be less of a headache to set up properly. Then again, I'm hardly an expert.
You're right.
Ibanez bridges are typically a bit easier, a bit, but Edge bridges are cheaper unless you go:
Original Edge (OE),
Lo-Pro Edge (LPR),
Edge Pro (EP),
Edge Zero (EZ),
ZR/ZR2.
These are sock solid & best bridges.
(above 1,5k$ guitars)
Lower/Middle categories are:
(up to 1,5k$)
Edge Zero 2,
Edge Pro 2,
Lo-TRS.
Cheapest possible starting from 299~799$
(you wanna avoid these, trust me) :
Edge III (E3)
Standard (SDL Trem)
Lo-TRS 2
You can always buy a cheap Ibanez and upgrade its bridge.
(Schaller / Gotoh).
Disclaimer : These cheapest zinc alloy/jelly bridges might be OK when new, but don't stand time.
@weston guidero I think you do that by adjusting those two front Allen by the knife edge
thank you. i maybe give that a try. would you know if i need to make any other adjustments before or after change the string height?
Could I install this system in another guitar? Or is the routing completely different? Would have to buy a guitar with this system already installed?
Okay am I reading this correctly? I need to adjust the bolt until it's nice and level on the front side? And then try retuning?
I need help guys...my rg2620z with tremol no. ..so if I wanna change tunings frequently will removing the zps system work for me?
Good👍👍👍👍
Is there a way to lock it if you want to disable the trem effects?
What if when my tremolo is at the Zero-point and is pointing towards the neck? It seems like it needs more spring tension but its sitting the the stop-bar piece. My strings are a bit loose and it is difficult to get the right strings and tension for tunings. I love the ZR bridge, but to make it have the same string tension as a regular guitar trem does it mean I'd have to remove the stop bar? Is the string tension thing and illusion? Am I going crazy? Haha Great video
Joel Louiseize possibly add another spring, or replace the existing ones with a sturdier spring.
@Ningirsutyr Fret buzz is most likely being caused by your truss rod.
The V-shaped plastic part "catches" the bar
It should be ROUND so it doesn't "catch" the bar
This causes tuning issues
Yo my Ibanez Egen has this bridge but why is my whammy bar so loose? Like it just spins around it doesn’t stay up where I want it to be. Thanks!
