Lets say I have changed the strings for the first time. Then after playing couple of time the tune went to high or low. To tune it again , do I just loosen the tune lock nut and re tune or any other way ?
That´s a great question! Normally I´m using the fine tuners until I can´t turn them anymore (usually that happens at the high e-string first and then you can´t tune it higher) and then you loosen the locking nuts and retune all strings. i hope that helps a bit

Usually all the floating bridges must be blocked. This edge zero tremolo from Ibanez is the only one where you don´t need to do it. Nice that you won a j.custom! Have a great time with that beauty!
@austrianpickingpower im often using whammy bar so the edge 3 won't stay in tuned and i planed to change to Edge Zero 2 i heard the Edge Zero 2 manufacturers from china are the knife edge on edge zero 2 hardened steel or at least much better than Edge 3 trem?

Hey man I have the exact same j custom and same chrysocola color. I also have a jem 7v we have similar guitars. Have you tried removing your zps system in your bridge I heard from ppl that it causes more flutter. Thanks man. This is the first day I got it. by changing the string gauge you maybe have to adjust the springs in the back. Loosen them for lighter gauge and tighten them for thicker strings. The bridge simply needs to be in balance. I did that in a separate video on the charvel guitar
Hey it's my first time trying to restring my ibanez with the same type of bridge but I don't know why my B and e strings don't want to stay in place they jump from the bridge every time I try to tune it. I tried to stuck it as tight as possible but I've heard you can damage the system if you make it too tight so yeah any advice ? also I manage to sort of tune it but the bridge just went so high that I got scared of breaking the guitar and well the strings got off anyway lmao I'm starting to loose hope in restringing that guitar T_T
Dont worry! May you check the original thring thickness. The thicker the strings the tighter they are. Most of the ibanez guitars come with 0.9 gauge. If you try to restring the guitar with 0.10 or 0.11 you have to adjust the springs in the back. If you pull in the e- and b-strings straight and tighten the nut they should be fixed. May you also watch some other restringing videos on my channel. Good luck! You will get it!
Excellent stuff here, man. I don't get the fear of trems systes like this, I assume it's just the lack of experience/turorials. I've had two Ibanez (and S series amd an RG) with the Edge Zero system, it's now my favourite trem system, and I find it super reliable.
In my setup it is sligthly agled...you need to find out how it works best for you. Some people prefer to have the buttom edge parallel. For me it is somewhere in the middle
I’m trying to lower the action on my new guitar with Edge Zero. It seems that it has stud lock inside, and it seems that you have to loosen them turning clockwise (which is strange) with the 2mm key. But even after that, i have to put too much pressure to lower the action turning with the 3mm key clockwise. Why?
I´m not 100% shure but have you tried to downtune the strings until they are very loose? Normally you have to turn counter clockwise to lower the bridge. I hope that helps
@@austrianpickingpower i was thinking clockwise to lower the bridge, but yes i will detune the strings. Another thing, there is a little plastic bushing under tra tremolo arm cap. To in need to insert it all the way down into the cavity first?
I have a gio and I tried to restring just the thinnest string on the guitar cause it broke originally anyway paid 9.99 for a new set of strings only for the only string I needed to explode off the guitar on the second turn went back to guitar center and tried to buy a single string which they refused to do so I stole another set of Dadario strings… still haven’t even attempted to restring it

Wow that´s an amazing guitar - congrats for owning that limited edition...got very famous since Bernth played it. It is normal that the bridge an leans backwards when you cut off the strings if you mean that...Another reason can be that the new strings have a different tension. Hi Debnit 712! You can watch my other video where I restring the charvel guitar with floyd rose system. @@juanocybe it's the best floyd rose-style bridge ibanez made because it pivots on ball bearings instead of the knife edges on their other bridges, making it return to the truest neutral point and have the smoothest motion. there are no drawbacks to it compared to the other edges and floyd rose bridges on the market, only improvements. it is a shame ibanez did not shell out the $ to the patent holder to continue using the design. at the same time... there really is nothing wrong with their other edge bridges. countless players use them with great success
I 100% can't firgue this out! Everytime I tune it just pulls the bridge up then I tighten the back springs then tune again amd the same thing until the back spring bolts are bottomed out and it's still out of tune and being pulled forward.
@austrianpickingpower Yeah idk, it's my brother's the head was broken off years ago and glued back on and he never played it again. He only had it for a couple weeks if that. I looked up that if it's done right and the glues strong enough it can work. I found a burera v55 in the trash that works perfectly. I was so pumped I wanted to play somthing on it even though I can't play. I didn't wanna mess with his working guitars to much testing it out. So i firgued I couldn't harm that one anymore then what has already been done. Plus is was caked in dust and a little rusty it's crazy considering it never even got played just sat there. Anyway I took my chances after cleaning it up and yeah now I'm here. The head seems strong to me but it could be part of the issue. Maybe the screw in the neck idk. I only know what I try to look up and try on here. Putting the springs in the /|\ pattern and starting with the bridge all the way low and going slowly almost worked but still no. Also I know nothing about the string block positioning or how that works. It's alot to take on. I thought if the head held it wouldn't be to bad. I was very wrong.
I think the people who struggle with FR style bridges either have one of two problems going on. 1. they have a part that is defective. 2. they eat lead paint chips.
The great thing of Ibanez is, that the entry level also uses similar bridges and hardware. The quality is always good and you can use this as a guide as well. Keep on shredding!

thank you! I am not 100% sure. It´s better to block the bridge every time!
@@austrianpickingpower no problem, thanks!
What is that electric tool to wind the machine head tuners? I need that in my life
It´s called "string peg" from ernie ball. I love it :)
Thanks
thanks for watching
Great video, I went to try following the tutorial and unscrew the intonation screws instead of the locking one. It did cause lots of issues now trying to figure out how to fix it up :(
hope you will fix that
thank yoU!
🙂
thanks, you look like the guy who free solos mountains
sounds funny
I got my S prestige in 2011 and I have never changed its strings. couldnt even guess how many hundreds or thousands of hours on them. they sound like dogshit. but i am going to change them in a couple days thanks to you
That´s weird and funny :) but great that my video helps you to finally change strings!
Simply try it and you´ll see it is not dangerous and you dont need to be afraid...just strings :)
Im pretty sure your J custom has a Edge Zero, not an edge zero 3, just a ZPS3 system in the back
Thanks for telling me! Yes, you are right this is the edge zero. I was confused because I didn´t know that the ZPS3 is the thing in the back :I
I changed the title and description!
There is no edge Zero III bro, just I and 2 as far as i know.
plz correct me if im wrong.
Thank you! The edge zero III exists but that´s not the one in this video. Here it is the edge zero with a ZPS3 system in the back...that was the thing that confused me. Thanks for telling me...I changed it in title and description
@@austrianpickingpower what is your overall opinion on that bridge? (edge zero)
Yah I know that problem. Sometimes it takes a bit longer. Simply adjust in small steps and stay patient. You´ll get it!
My J custom is the best guitar I've ever played. I don't really ever have problems going out of tune even when I bend the hell out of it.
Awesome! Which j.custom do you own?
@@austrianpickingpowerRG8520 Sodalite Blue.
@@RogerBrenon Awesome guitar as well! congrats
I think the people who struggle with FR style bridges either have one of two problems going on. 1. they have a part that is defective. 2. they eat lead paint chips.
yahhhh that could be true :)
Very sensible backround for such an expensive guitar. 🤔🤨
even expensive guitars are just guitars :P
Yeah, buddy, I don't have that specific guitar. Mine is the entry-level guitar.
The great thing of Ibanez is, that the entry level also uses similar bridges and hardware. The quality is always good and you can use this as a guide as well. Keep on shredding!
@@austrianpickingpower Thanks for the advice
changing strings after 40-60h of playing? I guess your egde zero won't last long that way
oh that´s interresting! Why do you think so?
Ich hätte schon Angst, dass nach ner Weile die feinen Gewinde und Mechaniken einfach den Geist aufgegeben. Was sind für dich 40-60h? 1 oder 2 mal im Monat?
Put a TONE VISE SYSTEM on that nut!
You will never go back.
6 Hours in ... i guess i sell it
oh that sounds sad
access …
great!
the edge zero was not a hit with me! i will take the low pro or edge original over the zero any day
nice
stopped watching when he cut the ball ends lmao
That´s what you´ll need to do with bridges like these....it´s just a ball end - nothing special
