The 9F won because it’s stronger than the 6MT. After all, the 9F is a 2-10-0 and the 6MT is a 4-6-2, so more driving wheels means more strength. Smaller driving wheels also increases tractive effort(pulling power) over larger ones. And seeing the 9F’s driving wheels are smaller adds on to it

Shorter drivers definitely do increase tractive effort, but more drivers don’t necessarily increase tractive effort. Having more drivers simply allows for better weight distribution, along with longer frames to allow for a larger boiler
Even so, just being bigger, heavier, and having more wheels doesn't necessarily make a locomotive stronger. A proper size boiler makes a huge difference. The AA20, a 4-14-4, with a weight of 733,935 63 inch drivers only had 71,940 flbs. On the flipside, it's inspiration, an Union Pacific 9000, a 4-12-2, with a weight of 807,099 lb and 67 inch drivers had a tractive effort of 97,664. While the AA20s main problem was just being way too long and heavy for USSR rails, a big problem with it was her poor steaming and low quality coal. Still have to have plenty of steam to power these locomotives.

@@blackbirdgaming8147 No, but it does also mean more adhesion to the rails which helps with pulling power. And of course the 9Fs boiler is more then capable of providing its mechanisms with steam.
Hey lazer, Those big guns on the back of the train were made by the british for WW1 and WW2. You can buy these online as 00 models as well!
Idea: put both the 9F and 6MT together against the Big Boy
+ those tanks on the flatbed cars were Churchill IIV’s and Cromwells.
And the railway gun is British and used to shell the coast of Germany from Britain.
Your train is ww2 themed.
So Big Boy would have Stuarts, Shermans and M1 Howitzers?

Those guns are essentially battleship guns mounted on rail carriages. Im pretty sure the british intended to use them as general long range heavy artillery during the world wars, but they would've mainly been used to target heavy static fortifications and big targets that dont move. Some of these guns could even shoot across the channel, though Im not sure if the ones seen in this video could.
The 9F certainly did better than last time with big boy. And you're right Lazer Jet it is a magnificent steam engine. Apart from the GER Class A55. Do you think you can do a video on that engine next video?

Very good video! I was thinking of a race between around 5 of the same loco (preferably a tank engine) with 1 coach each, all coaches must be different and they all have to be a Brake Third Coach and see which coaches are the heaviest or lightest, just a thought :)

The big boy won't even struggle if you have watched some older videos in TS17 you will see that bigboy is pulling more trucks than what he has shown.

I saw Black Prince run at a preserved line, and it was frankly comical: a 9F running maybe three miles at most with 12 coaches, I doubt the crew had to drive that much differently to if they were running light.
The guns are called Railway Howitzers and they were used for long distance shelling during WW2. I've heard they could hit a target from 18 miles away!

I only recognized the Cromwell and the Churchill tanks and yes it is called a barrel.

Those guns were used to fire massive bullets(shells) at Germany during both world wars.
the gun on the back LAZER, is of taking down war planes of other countries like for example german war planes.
The Guns were used to shoot things, from buildings to tanks.
Do a strength challenge with American steam engines and then do a vs between 🇺🇸and 🇬🇧
BTW, the BR Standard Class numbers are also applied for power class numbers. Example, the SR Q1 Class 0-6-0 locomotives have a power class of 5F.

@@person_1473 they could only shoot at range though so unless the plane was directly in their line of fire then it would be impossible to do that, they could only fire straight

I don't know the strength of the 6MT, but I've heard that the 9F's were the strongest steam engines on British Railways so my money's on Evening Star.
the guns were a German super weapon in ww2 it was called the schuwer gustav and their were four that were made and only one survived the war and i think its in poland

Those guns are for long-range artillery look up on RUclips the Gustav it will tell you more. I think it made a shot 14 km I think I can't do metric sorry but and like 11 miles down under the water and blew up a concrete bunker that had concrete like 4 ft thick.
