- For those of us who love driving (with our arm out the window), winter is a bit of a bummer. Removing snow safely is crucial to avoiding a major compound and polishing every spring. Take the extra 10 mins now to avoid a full day of compounding to remove the scratches from quickly wiping the snow off the paint without the proper tools or PATIENCE! -L

Leaf blower at 6am before work
Miguel Andres Lopera anduhhh7
I bet the neighbors love that!
Larry the type of guy to wrap his knife and fork with microfiber cloth to avoid scratching his plate
Underrated comment
hahahaha
A Google User. Punctuation needed!
The after-taste of fiber is worth the shine on those plates. 😏Hehe.
You are a legend
I like using flamethrower because it didnot touch the paint
big smoke Then you put the brats on the hood and make lunch. Lol
I just put my car in a paint booth and turn on the oven
Good idea
Don't forget to make sure your exhaust pipe is clear of snow and ice before you start the car. Common sense for many, but also many of us don't see this much snow very often.
next on AMMO how to safely drink coffee inside your car
mcmc bought Contigo mugs when I bought my car with light colored interior.
I'm waiting for the one on "how to avoid jizz stains on your seats, and how to clean them"
Easy, you don`t:)
5 hours of cleaning drivers seat. THEN coffee. Repeat process after coffee to assure no coffee dripped. Shower, shave go to work.
The best and most safe way to remove snow is waiting till spring 😂💦
The Rock Or build a garage 😂
Very true! lol
I got a laugh out of that so true
So yeah, Boss, I uuhh can't make it to work for the next few.... months. Yyyeeeahhh.....
Lol
Step 1: Find the "EXTREME BASS SONG" from RUclips
Step 2: Set your device and car speakers to full volume.
Step 3: Watch your car shake it off
Lol
Didnt realize you still had the impala, we havent seen it since your early videos. How about an update on it?
Came here to comment on the Impala too - great to see it again!
none of this would work for a gainfully employed person....as you would constantly be late for work....and imagine being that neighbor that uses a leaf blower at 6:00am in the middle of the damn winter
Keeping your wipers up isn't good idea. Springs are getting stretched, and stretched springs looses strenght. This may cause your wipers won't work properly. Better idea is to put a cardboard under the wipers and put plastic bags on the wipers. Simple, effective and safe. Sorry for poor english ;) Greetings from Poland.
Katerina K dude, your English is perfect, and you wrote much better than many native English speakers.
great idea!
Clever! I like that idea.
Katerina K Excellent suggestion you ever thought of destroying your life by doing a RUclips channel? Lol The English is perfect and Super Greetings from Pensacola Florida home of the Blue Angels.
I have never had that problem. Always put my wipers in the upright position in Sweden during winter = every day for 4+ months every year. Actually never heard of anyone with that problem.
I love how you bring it all back to the principal of using lubricant and avoiding touching that paint. And, NO, I hadn't seen/heard the stories of ice flying off and being a hazard. Not having lived in a snowy region before, I thought it was untidy-looking, but had no idea it could be dangerous. HOLY CRAP!
oh it is very dangerous, so many ppl will do the bare minimum cleaning and I've had very close encounters with ice chunks and other crap almost hitting me...
So glad you ended the part at the end because at the end of the day safety is paramount over everything else!! Well done Larry great video.
You know what, I’m just gonna scratch the paint a little bit
😂😂😂😂
Thanks Larry, I never knew the proper way...I really appreciate the information
As someone from New Hampshire, I NEEDED this!!
This man is the definition of OCD
Don't you mean call of duty
@@NittoNba44 lmao he didn’t say COD
Thank you from a Canadian who has always been concerned about this exact issue!
I've never even seen snow in my life, but im still watching this video.. for some reason its satisfying, thanks for the great video larry!
In Soviet Russia, snow removs you from car
It's true.
I love this channel and everything you teach, but your wife is right your crazy.😀
Why am i even watching this... i live in Dubai xD
Climate change is real. You better get ready for everything.
yeah global warming can do it
ahhhh lol
AMMO NYC yay you replied!
Larry needs to do a video on sand storms
No idea how bad the snow storms are there as I live in the tropics but damn that is an insane amount of snow!
Muhammad Wafiy You don't know what real living is until you've had to shovel a sidewalk or use a snow blower. Buy a Fatbike and go ride in upstate NY.
It snowed this year in Houston for the first time since 2009 and everyone was freaking out. It was probably less than an inch
Glad to see I am not the only one who is crazy enough to use a leave blower! The few times I have had to leave my 06 GTO outside during the snow storm I have used a leave blower to blow off the snow.
Total time to do this process : 1.5 hour. Im sure that Every car enthousiast have time to do this before going to work...wtf
You've completely missed the point.
Where I live, I would have spent more time cleaning the snow off my car using this video's advice than I would have during my post-winter paint fixing within the first 2 weeks of winter. We get snowfall over 4+ months where I'm from. No way you save time overall with these methods.
He said something along the lines of, "If this drives you nuts, get a tent to keep the car in to avoid removing snow from the vehicle all together".
Then get a garage. It snows where I live between November & April, but it isn't snowing every single day.
A snow garage is nice at home but you rarely have access to an underground parking everywhere else (job, shopping etc).
Now THATS how you do a good snow removal video. Thanks for the info ^^
Ive been using a snow brush for years, I brush right over my paint and have never gotten any scratches I couldn't just buff out after, too much work for me.
To attach the microfiber towels to the snow broom without cutting them, you can also tie them on using velcro cable straps.
I will have eat that snow it looks so good ! During winter I always eat many bowls of snow 🤍🤤
Same 🏔️❄️☄️🍦⚪⬜
Larry, great video as usual. Your advice has been super helpful for me and my family's cars. Do a video on how to wash a car with very little water, ie in South Africa or another place with water constraints. I would love to hear your method for doing this. Cheers.
Haha I laughed so hard at the tent. Keep up the good work Larry!
Thanks for your videos I regularly watch them to improve my methods 👍🏻✊🏻
It’s videos like this that make me appreciate the warm weather of the Caribbean.
Thank you Larry yeah you are right about the snow and with more coming our way it's going to get crazy
If I had a Lamborghini or a really nice car I would store it inside. I would leave the crappy cars outside and not worry about paint
Thank you Larry!!! Love all your videos...products... etc! Hope your not getting completely buried with this 3rd Nor Easter
Finally the video I've been waiting for from Larry 😀😀. I don't know if anyone can relate to my situation tho but being the only one with a truck in the household sometimes I'm not given the time to "safely" remove the snow off my truck. Just last week my girlfriend last minute called me to pick her up from work and I had to be there before they closed up and locked her out so I had to rush the snow removal.
YES I have been waiting for this!!! Thanks Larry!
Thanks for sharing I live in New Jersey , I'm leaning towards wrapping car just because of the snow we deal with.
Larry. Gotta say I lived in N Y. Long Island for 47 years. I moved to Texas. 8 month ago. Great show. But don’t miss the snow 👍
Greetings Larry!! I live in Buffalo and I know snow, all kinds of snow!! LOL You WILL get a ticket here for not cleaning off your car as well!! Great video as usual. Can't wait for spring!! :-)
I have been waiting for this!! My mom likes to use a broom and I’m always worried
I used a leaf blower all winter to good effect. And it actually doesn't take THAT much time.
I have the exact same foam broom Larry. I'll do the towel thing next. I never really had frozen stuff to deal with this winter, which is surprising actually but its common here.
Nice advice.
nice job Larry.
Thank you for your content.
Larry, go to the HomeDe-pot where they keep the exterior window washing equipment. Look for the washing fixture that comes with a removable mircrofiber wrap. The best one is UNGER Model # 963920. There are also telescopic aluminum poles to connect to the fixture. The 963920 is the softest and the safest. Just make sure the microfiber wrap does not get wet then freeze causing scratches.
I did something similar with the past two storms in CT! I ended up just using safety clips though.
what are your thoughts on those various snow car covers like lanmodo awning style vs windshield + side view mirror covers vs full body covers? also thoughts on finding a way of using warm water through a hose for added lubrication?
Finally! I've been waiting for this video!
Great video!
I just subscribed because you have the 94-96 Impala SS 😂😂 but all jokes aside you have very informative videos i love detailing my cars just like you!
Hey Larry, do you think a waterproof car cover would work good for snow? I live in PA so we do get a lot of snow and I think it would be easier to get it off a cover than the actual paint.
how are you going to take the cover off?
Was waiting for this video. Thank you
Your product line is stellar! My car has never looked so good! Man she looks good at night! Thank you!!!
We had a pretty cold spell in the UK a couple of weeks ago. Got the snow off with my Bruhl 2800 blower. The warm air had the snow fly off!
Yes! I requested this!
Quick question Larry,
I have a problem with the front of my windscreen fogging up. It seems to be a constant build up of moisture on the inside. Is there something I can do to prevent this?
Great video as always 👍🏻
Longy1986 maybe you have a leakage.. there are cusions that absorb moist..!
Hi from Spain Larry. I have been a subscriber for quite some time now and have been very interested in all your videos for cleaning, maintaining and protecting the paint in my cars. I have an issue with one of them that, I believe, hasn’t been covered and I keep of waiting to see if it ever comes to one of your videos. I have a 964 that has spent almost 20 years at a paint garage, until I bought it. Now that the car is restored only thing that bothers me is that the front windshield is lightly scratched, you can only notice it at night with the lights of incoming traffic and in the evenings when the sun is setting in front of you. Is there anyway to remove those scratches (they look like if someone ever removed paint from it using a scotch brite sponge) or I just have to live with it until I replace the windshield?
Many thanks
Great video. What is the name of that tent you have in the driveway?
Gary, or to give him his full name, Gary the Garage Tent.
Off to buy a leaf blower, will watch the rest of the video later!
Great vid again Larry, thanks again. But what’s wrong with a couple of buckets of warm water over the car?
Great video, thanks Larry
Kind regards
Emdad from England
Just put it in the microwave for 1minute.
Omg what kind of microwave you got. I can't fit my car in the microwave plus is also above the stove.
ObesePuppies make sure it does have metal on it 😉
Someone should totally make a snow-melting microwave defrost gun!!
If you live in a country where there is a lot of snow during the winters, then I'd suggest getting either an electric interior and motor heater or a gasoline/diesel powered heater, both of which are very common here (Finland). The heater will melt most of the snow and also heat up the engine, so you don't have to start it cold.
Great vid. I see this up here in Canada all the time - people obsess over their paint in the summer time, then take a broom directly to their paint in the winter. "Why didn't my paint correction last?!!!"
For snow removal I use the metal brush from the bbq. Come spring, I then buff out the gouges🙂
For removing ice off the windows, I pour boiling hot water on the glass. Works like a charm. Come spring, yup I replace all the cracked glass. My way of thinking is if I replace the glass every spring, I never have to worry about pitting. 🤔
Im so fxking smart! 😋
Great video. Re-post this in the fall of 2018... :)
Realy great video, thanks for your work.... Ceep Scratch Free !
Thanks Larry thanks 👍🏼👍🏼
My friend, I've been with you since the beginning. I hope you upgrade to 4K 60fps soon! Pleeeease.
When there is a snow storm during work hours, it sends shivers down my spine watching people clear off snow in the parking lot st the end of the day. So many people dragging snow brushes across unwaxed paint at once, errrrk!
Honda civic does care scratches fer day. Keep the goood work
As a very keep it real person without a leaf blower, especially after leaving work after a blizzard, i have to have a smart compromises all of the time.
My method is a bit risky, but i think most appropriate in everyday situations.
1. Warm the car so bonnet is warm and snow-ice starts melting and slides off easier with water lubrication.
2. I use like 5-10 Eur brush you can buy everywhere. I use it very gently both on the roof and bonnet. If there is ice stuck to paint i dont scrape it and leave it there.
3. I clean rear window and lights and just around the doors so snow doesn't get in.
4. I leave sides and bumpers in bit of a snow since i know its going to get blow off in first couple of meters.
Its like a compromise. I love saving paint, but i also need to to some what practical and fast so i prioritize which parts are essential Of Course, usually its a lot less snow that in your video haha.
I have that exact same Husquvarna blower!
Thanks for another great video. Can you link the car tent? I rely need something like that.
As a Canadian, this video made me laugh.
Love the obsession !
Finally a video with the 95 Impala
Good advices... For someone who doesn't live in Canada where it snows everyday and where we have ice everywhere.
Hi Larry, Im looking to purchase some products next time im in the States and was wondering if you could do a product summary video of the items in your store, especially on the kits.
Thanks!
Hi Larry, great 👍 video as always. 👍🇦🇺
@ammonyc is the a old school pioneer Indash flip out tv. I had one of those too.
I’m from ct and you’ll be suprized how many people still drive with 5”+ of snow on the highways. And we just got 14” and last night I had to clear my car before work and was gonna email you asking what would keep my car safe.
This comment to the top. Great snow removal tips!
hello thanks for this vid. from what I saw ice is not that good for paint. which products could be good for protection?
@AMMO NYC
Does the Tent work really well? Does it collect to much snow? Where can I find one like that?
I was cold just watching this video! Great info though!
5:03 Larry is joining the drift scene. Lol
so what do you recommend for clearing a car when leaving a parking lot after work?
Just get a snowbrush. Maybe you can find a delicate one that has less of a chance at scuffing your clear coat. If it snows more than 4x a year, you're not going to save time using these methods vs. just using a snowbrush a fixing your paint once post winter. I would have spent more time cleaning the snow off my car than the length of my post winter paint care within the first two weeks of winter using these methods.
It may work for some if you RARELY see snow or rarely need to clean snow off your car.
exactly. You think we brush snow twice? lol. I brushed twice just going Tim Hortons lol
Honestly the first few weeks of snow I do this, but after a while you just want to go to work.
Hey Larry, I love the vids but can you do a video about cleaning the engine and the engine bay ?
You have one but for some old deluxe car, can you do a cleaning for everyday, modern, average joe car ?
My Mum uses a window scraper on her entire car lol nightmare. No amount of words can stop her
My neighbor just did this to her Golf. I cringed so bad and died a little inside. The whole car, the bumpers, everything she scrapes the shit out of it. I scraped very carefully to divide the panels in sections so they slide off by gravity. I didn't do this because I was pussy btw, it's just a car to me, a tool. But I want to avoid scratches as much as I could that can turn into expensive rust afterwards.
My WIFE doesn't wash, compound or wax. I DO. She looks at you Larry, laughs hysterically, points and calls you crazy Larry. "Sigh"
ARPHOTO I could but then I'd have to eat my own cooking, that scares me.
zeroproof smh at your wife 😂!
im laughing too, this is for some paranoid people
in texas looking like i might not be going anywhere lol
Hey Larry, can you tell me where you got the tent and what to look for when shopping for one?
Wooow..thnks 4 share ur ideas.....
..
Im from warm Australia and we dont see snow at all unless youre in the hills, but ill watch it anywhere 😂
blew it
snowed today in Michigan and I brushed it off with a broom, but not hard
Does that count?
Glad for the upload though!
What do you think about getting a car cover for when it snows?
I just moved to Connecticut from Puerto Rico. Had to dig my car out of the snow for the first time ever last week. I guess I'll add leaf blower to the list of stuff I have to get...
