Video footage of a double shooting in Newport News, Virginia has been released. The video caught a shooting that took the lives of Cadre Gray and Quinton Kelly. Both victims were found inside a van on Wickham Ave. in January 2016. A private investigator was in the area, doing surveillance on an unrelated case, when he caught the crime on video. In the investigator's footage, you can see what police have called a robbery in progress. A few minutes later, one of the suspects runs away. The other suspect, later identified as Laratio Dantzler, leans into the van and opens fire. He then also runs away.
"I hear a gun shot, I hear a gun shot," said a neighbor who called 911. "Oh my God, they shot them in the truck." Police body camera footage shows what happened as soon as the police arrived on scene. An officer jumped from their patrol car and began chasing one of the suspects. The officer ended up shooting Dantzler and taking him into custody. He was later sentenced to life in prison. The other suspect, Stephen Hayes, has been charged with robbery. His trial is set for April.

I don’t know every situation but I know I can’t stand when they ask questions that don’t matter at all and repeat the same ones over and over. There may be a reason or whatever but a lot of it is a waste of time. I’ve had them do it to me while I was watching someone break in to my truck and I ended up just telling her the address and saying to show up or don’t and hung up. The majority of videos that include the 911 operator are filled with the usual “should be fired” bullshit and critiques yet don’t understand 911! 911 operators aren’t supposed to be friendly and comforting, 911 operators are there to relay EXACTLY WHO WHAT WHERE AND WHEN! They are there to get raw information, they are purposely assertive because every second counts and every single detail directly correlates to what kind of response is needed. They drill the callers for information, and then send the information to a dispatcher, who then sends the information to the officers attached to the call, and then determine how the necessary response code to the designated officers, who then is coordinated by the attached responding units. Remember that video of a black kid hanging out with his white grandma had officers doing a felony traffic stop because they thought he was robbing her? That’s because a black teen was robbing an elderly white grandma at the same time but 911 operators didn’t get enough identifying information relayed to the officers dispatcher in time.
Also just look up 911 operators training material, it consists of listening in real-time to children being beaten to death, women being raped, elderly being slowly murdered, and the occasional hysterical family calling about a dead family member, AND THATS THE TAME TRAINING! They listen to vile disgusting people and hear families being ripped apart, SOMETIMES LITERALLY RIPPED APART, and you want them fired because they distance their attachment and empathy for every caller?

Don't you get that adrenaline when the camera switches to the police officer? You see the crime being committed and a witness crying and feeling powerless in front of cruel people, and the moment you see there's a person, someone who is putting his/her life on the line to go and rescue, to help and protect everybody regardless of who they are. How come people don't realize how PRECIOUS this fact is? You take it for granted because you grew up in this society, so it's common sense, but just stop for a second and think: how crucial and fundamental is it? When the bad guy targets you, you'll need someone to reassure you, to keep you alive, and that's a police officer. Assholes screaming ACAB and hating on police, don't really know the feeling of having their life in danger, realizing it could be their last day on earth, the panic it comes to your mind, and the sight of someone who came there specifically to help you out and save you. This is so extremely important, many people fail to realize it.

Dispatchers are trained to calm down the caller so they do not make irrational decisions or act hysterical. That's why when your annoyed the dispatcher asks "what is the address/who shot who/who is doing what" it's not because they aren't paying attention, they are trying to ground the caller back to reality so no one else gets hurt
