I remember when those came out. Many people left them out in the rain and they rusted so badly, we used to see them at the dump at least a few of them per month. The bikes were only 2 - 3 years old at the time.
hi i am in the UK and in 1981 bought a Murray Baja for £116 it was metallic blue, it was considered by my local bike shop to be the first mountain bike in the uk, it was a better spec than the Raleigh bomber which was only 3 speed. great build brings back so many memories of riding mine over hills and moors.
i was surprised how steel wools work great in remowing minor rusts......cleaned my old bmx handle bars with steel wool yesterday......it is now installed on my mountain bike LOL
if im not mistaken the first time i saw a mountain bike in the philippines was in 1996......i can not forget that because i was like....what kind of bike is that
Nice build bro. Simple just the way I like it. Can you send a link to were you bought all the parts? I just came on the same exact bike and was thinking about doing something just like yours. Thanks 🙏
Thank you, all parts used are take-offs parts collected, wheel set from 80's. Mtb, bars are motorcycle motorcross, stem Huffy bmx, and so on. Good luck on your Baja build!
@@hoosiercycles6595 thanks bro. I just watched it also. Good advice one using the zip ties to hold the wheels in place. I’ve never worked on a bike so all advice is welcome. Thanks again 🙏
looks cool, i forgot about those pinched on rear drop outs that were on cheap bikes
Ball up aluminum foil dip it in warm water with dish soap then rub off surface rust on chrome.
Well done
very cool Bike

80's mtb's great souce for wheel sets, axles without quick release, although you can swap out axles
