If you've ever had a bike land right on top of you or you've got tangled up trying to get back on your pedals, even the resi and your pads can only do so much. At least guaranteed to have a few bumps and bruises the next day.
Go back to the when you were a kid and tell yourself that 1 day, BMX riders would be able to do a 1080 bar-spin back flip and a ton of other mind-blowing tricks. Back when I was a kid, doing a 360 spin was considered an amazing trick. Even by professionals. The world has come so far in bmx, and biking in general, it's truly amazing to watch cycling sports continue to progress well into the future. I get excited about extreme sports the way football fans get excited about football.
Yeah, I hear you man!!! - I very well remember (after lots of fails) successfully landing a ramp to ramp 360, was a great feeling...I need to get a bmx 'cos I've a friend who doesn't believe I can (well ...could) easily do a 180 bunnyhop (my absolute best was 270) and I know that even now aged 49 I've still got a good 180 bunnyhop in me..(doubt I'd nail it first go, but a few attempts I would for sure)... Absolutely loved riding BMX back in the day, just making crappy ramps out of whatever we could find was ace fun. Modern day kids just will never know the fun they missed out on!
I still remember going to Tony Hawk's Boom Boom Huck Jam! I still remember waking up to The X-Games and Dave Mirra (RiP) landing the double backflip in competition along with Tony Hawk landing the 900... If I'm not mistaken Shawn White was the only one doing 1080's and 1440's lol... Those guys paved the way for the go big or go home style... BMX definitely took that too the fullest and is still getting way more technical!!
I can totally relate - when I got my first dirt or better dual slalom (a discipline which isn't even around anymore) mtb Timo Pritzel just brought the basic backflip over from BMX riding and 360's had been a rare sight in mtb dirt, alongside straight supermen.
Every single one of those tricks were insane. Any of them would have been stuff you could only do in Dave Mirra videogames. Now I am watching folks SURPASS videogame tricks in real life. Mad respect.

Back in the late 80's I was really into BMX type bikes. I remember when a movie called Rad came out in 1986. In the movie one of the riders does a single back flip on a bike. And we were just astonished at how bad ass and epic that was. Can you imagine if someone were to show us this video here back then? There would simply be no way to comprehend what we were seeing. Our minds would literally blow a gasket.

Bro Sam Gibson did a 1440 frontflip and the commentators called it a 1080 😭 if he had landed it he could’ve got first… Check 3:10 and put it to 0.25 speed. That was insane that he even tried a 1440!

Has anyone tried doing an entire run on the back wheel? Talking one wheel down the ramp, transition, up the jump, dealers choice in the air trick wise but land it on the back wheel till it's time to hip check the airbag... Naturally once mastered the next step would be Front wheels? We don't need no stinking front wheels. Another EPIC year all!! I haven't had a BMX bike since 1988 so I have to vicariously live through the Nitro World games. It's WAY too late to start jumping again. My signature trick would be the OHHHHHHH as that's what the fans would be yelling till the ambulance left the stadium taking what's still left of my ass to the ER....

After watching the comp from 7 years ago the 1st nitro best trick its a damn shame the judges scored it so low because we are seeing how the sport never progressed past that insane comp.
