BMX Chair Araya Wheel Set Baja Murray Build
You did not waste money. I wasted $150 on a new Communist Chinese bike has bad welds and bad wheel bearings. It probably end up at the scrap yard in three years.
That’s a nice build. Love them straight forks.
Nice !
Just go with 1.95 tires
That means $ if I were smart your right.its a budget build. Appreciate you watching
@ I salvage and sell discarded bikes for 20 years. People like new tires. They can be had for decent price. I would not be comfortable stretching the frame myself. Cruiser tires can be a tough fit and I hate tight tolerance in the drop outs so I buy new tires
Really nice bike, big enough for me. I have hard time finding big enough frames. I'd tear it down and go full rebuild. Get a LaPrade seat post and new seat, black wall tires and hit the frame with some automotive tire shine. Don't change it around too much.
Like the suggestions. At minimum I'll give a good cleaning put something on chrome to keep from rusting.
Come on! Where do you live? $50 is high end enough for me in Cali 😊
PNW WA. Don't run across deals like this too often. Offerup isn't as popular as FB market
$150 os a killer deal
I couldn't believe it was still available
@hoosiercycles6595 cheapest complete one I've seen in my area . but not as nice as that one is $600
Built on my 3rd birthday!
Super dope color scheme. Love those grips too
Sweet klunker!
150 is a good deal too
Im 26 and i love these early mtbs!
Sweet find.
I like that bike and those tires. Black wall cruiser nobbies I run those on my back up bike. I been rebuilding junker bikes left on the street in San Francisco for a while now. I'd really excited to find that bike. Take off the tires and put some automotive tire black on them, makes them look really sharp.
If the saddle is a Brooks, it is an OG saddle.
It is a brooks! I remember the saddles being Schwinn avocets, believe that is what my 83 had
cool build
Gotta say when you have a vision and apply it ,it's just perfect. I'm a fan will follow buddy
Appreciate the kind words
May as well get some Giant decals. LOL
Yep I took all my decals off too. Love to see these bikes.
Late to the party but.. Awesome build!
@@los_rubos thank you
are you at the shooting range?
looks cool, i forgot about those pinched on rear drop outs that were on cheap bikes
Do you think the bike could withstand doing tricks on it without breaking?
Wheel set questionable only 3/8" axles singled walled rims
Can you please make a video on installing pegs on the Highland?
No longer own bike. The axle nut holds peg. Need deep 15mm socket and an extension to install pegs
Good job. Looks pretty nice. Good riding.
Ball up aluminum foil dip it in warm water with dish soap then rub off surface rust on chrome.
Can you do wheelies on those bmx bikes from hiland because i might get a jet fuel bmx bike from hiland
I am sure you can but not me
Sorry but the hiland customer service say's to me the top tube is 22.13" 🤔
My measurement is from center line head tube to seat tube maybe they are outside the tube?
How did you remove the stickers
They peeled off than used denatured alcohol to remove residue finally clear coated with clear rattle can
@@hoosiercycles6595 does the bike come with pegs
It did come with pegs
Did the pegs come on the front wheel because I want to put it on the back
@@hoosiercycles6595 did the front wheels come with pegs and if they did how did you remove them
Looks nice man, have a 2001 RL360 from when I was a kid I’m restoring.
They are getting harder to find at a bargain
@@hoosiercycles6595 I was actually pretty surprised how much my “old bmx” bike was worth haha. Loved riding it everywhere as a kid -even when my parents got me and my bro new mountain bikes for Xmas. Got some nos bar/frame pads on the way right now since mine got so beat from use. It’ll be a garage queen since I haven’t rode it in years at this point and just bought a supwr73 e-bike to ride around.
Excellent job on a great looking bike. Why the choice of rim brakes over a simple coaster brake? I wish I had your skills , instead I bought a modern klunker from State Bicycles and changed out parts to my preferences.
I go back to childhood bikes all coaster brake always wanted a freewheel! thank you for kind words
Gorgeous bicycle,cool style
It's all about getting the right color of cable housing. You nailed it.
Nice builds.. do pre war frames use a 7/8 seat post also?
believe 13/16" Schwinn used thru the 70's
@@hoosiercycles6595 dang it.. thats what I keep reading and everyone keeps telling me the same but the 13/16 wald seat post that im trying is loose in seat tube.. ive shimed it with soda can tin.. but Im not liking that set up much
now Schwinn didn't make every frame, believe they used other manufacture to keep up with production, if you have a co-op bicycle shop that sells used bike parts they'll have post you can try in your frame. good luck sourcing a post @@pisto_run_cycling
@@hoosiercycles6595 thank you ill keep looking i did find one on line that measures 20.7 a 13/16 measures 20.4.. hopefully that will do it for now
to get my seat post to fit on this build I used a round file to clean up inner seat tube, I too was confused why the 13/16 wasn't fitting but it was 40 years of surface rust gunk didn't take much it slide in nicely @@pisto_run_cycling

Wheres the pegs
Not from that generation didn't install wouldn't know how to use them other than skin up my shin
Cool Bike!
Thank you! I switched video editor still learning to use
I ordered the brake kit for the front, but they are too big. What size are yours?
Too big? meaning the reach? Pad dosen't adjust to rim. The length of caliper brakes I used are 1000mm. Mx1000 by dia comp
This help?
Thanks. I overlooked the pads adjustment. lol. I am happy I installed them all right. Yay!
Thank you wish I could find more like these at $30
Just go ahead and build it as s OG Mountain Bike. Now that would be cool.🤘🤠🤘
I have a schwinn king sting 5 speed building next.
looks great
does it come with pegs?
No it didn't
fanzy crank - shiny bike - nice build bro
Thank you bro
I like it. BMX bars better?
Thanks. I sold it wish I kept
For $20 I’ll take the SE.. you get what you pay for. The weld on the Black Dog is Amatuer hour
Very nice Build, with Classy Components 👌🏽
Thank you
I'm a purist but that single blue chain-wheel in the front looks fantastic !! I believe the mongoose ATB might be the strongest bicycle ever made. It was the first production bike designed for mountain biking and they seemed to have over-engineered it. The brake levers were designed to withstand a direct hit of a nuclear warhead and or tree-trunk. It feels like riding a tank but in a good way 😎👍
Pork Chop bmx repop mongoose style chain ring fits perfectly
@@hoosiercycles6595 Pork Chop is awesome !! 😃👍
Mine got taken out by a Ford Ranger in '99. Bent the hell out of the frame and the rear wheel set after a 30mph impact.
I do like the cranks on this restore - match the frame nicely.
Do you happen to have a parts list/ breakdown for your build on this bike
I don't, frame fork original headset original bottom bracket generic euro came with 2 piece tubular Crankset porkchop sprocket 42, original dia-comp cantilever brakes, sr flutted seatpost, avocet seat, wheel set from 83 schwinn Sierra, bull moose bars vintage
Needed a 7/8" seatpost.
Unfortunately I moved bike along, no longer own, thanks for offer
Do you think this can be a cheaper alternative to a se bike for wheelies?
Definitely cheeeaper but I would not put SE and hiland insame sentence.
