- A special treat for Christmas Eve. Our video of making Wassail!
Wassail is both a phrase and a drink. In old Norse it means “Go in good health” and over the centuries wassail also became the name of this apple cider punch.
Our wassail uses:
2 gallons of Cider. If using sparkling cider it must be allowed to sit out to go flat.
A cup of Port
A cup of Madeira
Several orange slices
Two sticks of cinnamon
A tablespoon each of clove, mace, and nutmeg.
Finally, a cup of sugar.
Mix this all together in a pot and heat until warm and the sugar is dissolved.
Serve in a wooden bowl with some baked apples and enjoy!
Have a safe and Happy Holidays!
Love!
A great video gentlemen. Wesowy Swiat! (Polish Christmas greeting)
Thank you for posting this video. When you say port what particular beverage are you referring to? Thank you so much.
Now the cider is that as it is known in the US, so probably not alcoholic, or as it is known in the UK when it is always alcoholic?
I love wassail to, I have a convenient way to make it. You can buy wassail mix on line at Amazon, you can buy it in a can a carton or even packs of it in a box. I’am totally blind so that’s easy four me, all you do is poor the mix in to a cup and add water and stir and you have wassail, you can drink it hot or cold.n
I'm thinking a great way to get more eyes on your YT channel would be to team up with Townsends channel. Your institute is a critical tool to bring desperately needed education on 18th Century America. I think the pairing is perfect.
Yes I just found their page but I've watched Townsend for years
