Market Fair: What to do? and Who to See?
Recently CI went to Fort Loudoun's Market Fair with our entertainment set up. Doing so lets us bring history to life by showing visitors historic ways to pass the time. While we were there we met up with many familiar faces who were vending and we wanted to share a little bit about them. So enjoy this video and remember CI is only able to do outreach like this thanks to generous donations and partnerships with our community! If you would like to contribute please visit www.paypal.com/paypalme/DonatetoCI or if you're interested in partnering with us email info@cimlg.org.

I’m an ICU nurse and have worked in a variety of of icus over the years, thirty years. Two years ago picked up a copy of ‘every man his own physician’ from 1756. While so much was outdated and some dangerous, there was a lot of advice in the book that after almost three centuries is still viable

I love wassail to, I have a convenient way to make it. You can buy wassail mix on line at Amazon, you can buy it in a can a carton or even packs of it in a box. I’am totally blind so that’s easy four me, all you do is poor the mix in to a cup and add water and stir and you have wassail, you can drink it hot or cold.n

If you eat the Standard American Diet (aka SAD), you will never experience the sweetness of natural fruit. Sugar dulls our ability to taste real food. It's so detrimental to our whole being.

Gender homogeny is not gender equality.

  • @the_eternal_student

I think it has been a long time since women who had children were mothers, since a mother could not accept bringing children into a slave economy. Perhaps, women in colonial times were closer to the mark of motherhood than current generations.

Even though the gender roles were generally not separate and equal, I am glad this video did not say that there were no gender roles in the 18th c. Originally, all roles in the family (gender, age, etc.) were separate and equal; the movement away from this was the rise of crime and war.

Only the wealthy & city folks were able to have charred cloth as it was expensive. Woods runners were not going to use their cloths to start a fire so they relied on natural tinders from the landscape, charred punk wood, cat tails, horsehoof fungus, chaga & the list goes on. Cheers & happy fire lighting

Lovely 1796 Pattern Infantry Officers sword. Does it still have it's scabbard? One further piece of information, the coat of arms on the blade is of the type in use from 1714 to 1801. You can tell by the three fleur de Lys in the upper right quarter and the lack of a shield under a crown in the center. This to helps narrow down the age of the sword even further.
