Moffet writing with Davies showrunning is a winning combo.
I dont think I could find the right words for how good this episode was. I may be able to drum it
I’d love a script written by Russell and Steven. Steven writes the Doctor and Russell writes the companion.
Jodie really could've used Moffat during her seasons. That man is a genius.
For as much as his era was at times hit or miss, and for as much as he needed to pass the torch by the end of season 10
Nobody would ever deny that Steven Moffat is a fantastic writer. When he’s able to focus and he’s not trying to do too much, he’s capable of just stunning work. I won’t even say Boom was my favorite of his, but it’s the first all time classic episode of who to add to the cannon since he left
I would argue Wild Blue Yonder felt pretty classic RTD era
@@thomashart22 actually liked the giggle, wild blue yonder, and 76 yards a whole lot (fully forgot about those and would say all 3 are also classics
Moffat got RTDs voice down
I love this man
Howdy!
@@theauthor1238 You're The Moff???? :O
What’s. Up. Every…body.
Look it's the ninety-first doctor who fan
Steven Moffat Boom is amazing. It's already one of the best episodes ever. EVER.❤❤
felt like an Eccleston 2005 episode along the lines of the Doctor Dances.
@@purefoldnz3070 For me personally I think it's better than Blink. So much to take in. Steven is at the top of his game with Boom.
@@user-ms1pg2ok4i Steven is better at individual episodes than as a showrunner. Glad to see Dr Who back!
Ncuti needs moffat, boom is his first great episode
Just don't let him run an entire season. Bring him in as a frequent guest writer.
@@personzorz Moffat's over-arching narratives are pretty mediocre in the way they're super convoluted, but his one off episodes are soooo good
@@johnderat2652He had about one top tier season in him, give him time to cook and he absolutely kills it
@@Jack-zz7bc Time is the biggest thing. Moffat had time to prep for series 5, got concessions to rejigger things for series 8 and 9, and had more time to think about series 10. And in the intervening time when he's also showrunning Sherlock and being with his family amongst other things, he still banged out The Day of the Doctor, Last Christmas, Heaven Sent, Listen, The Impossible Astronaut, Extremis, World Enough and Time, and rewrites of The Doctor's Wife amongst other episodes that might be mid-Moffat but would tower over most other writers' contributions.
I firmly believe people get too caught up in how good his first 4 stories were and ignore how strong the show still was when he ran it. Give me a timey wimey arc that might not quite make sense over the DoctorDonna or Timeless Child breadcrumbs any day.
The thing is, ncuti doesn’t need Moffat. Moffat is just giving him better direction whereas RTD has told him to act like himself which Ncuti has publically said. It makes me sad bc ncuti wants to play the role more traditionally
Fun fact: RTD said one of his phone calls was to Chibnall to ask him to write for the new season.
There is something funny to me about the fact that you call the person who just left to come back.
Like Deep Breath, but in real-life.
Moffat said he did the same to RTD.
I honestly feel that rtd moffat and chibs should work together throughout doctor who I think together they could do some great episodes
I mean, they are friends, and he did have Chibnall do an episode during his first time as showrunner
I personally did not like Chibnalls time on Doctor Who. I'm glad he didn't say he'd write something. I think it's more of a courtesy to call the person who just left to write something.
@@user-ms1pg2ok4iTbf, Chibnalls stories in RTD 1 weren't as bad as his series
Moffat understands the doctor better than anyone and he's much better at writing the odd episode instead of doing an entire series ark. He's great
Yeah, he understands it so much better.
That's why Matt Smith couldn't regenerate again, but season 6 and 7 showed he could, before his final episode where he said he couldn't lol
Steven was only basically good at horror-themed episodes, with the exception of maybe 5 or 6.
@@To-New-Beginnings. Better than the shit that's being served up now
@Moonlightgraeme How was it better? And don't use that sad old ratings excuse. Lmao.
I mean, Steven messed up all of season 6, he had maybe 3 good episodes in season 5.
@@To-New-Beginnings. It was more like doctor who for a start, instead of Russell planting his politics on the show and passing it off as doctor who. This current version pays no resemblance to doctor who at all, it's a mess
@Moonlightgraeme Oh, what like when Steve put his own personal opinion of Trump in a few of his episodes?
But yeah, Steven is fine doing it, right? Lol
What sort of world do we live in where Steven Moffat writes the dark social commentary episode and Russel T Davies writes the zany fun ones?
Both writers have always excelled at both styles. Moffat's very first episode was a grim WWII story (albeit with an optimistic ending) and RTD's second episode was as zany as they come
I think you need to watch 73 Yards!!
@@1funkyflyguy RTD is getting back in the groove!
Edit: Now that I’ve thought about it, Boom was a much more politically conscious episode than 73 yards. Boom took what could have been a sci fi action episode and turned it into political commentary. 73 yards took what could have been a very political episode like Turn Left or Years and Years, and cut all the potential commentary out of it besides for the threat of nuclear war. The slitheen two parter back in 2005 had just about as much political perspective.
Thoughts and prayers!
steven's impression of russell was on point
I think this TARDIS interior would've suited Moffat's era so well!
I'm still the greatest Moffat fanboy ever... 😅🤭🥰
Ever since Coupling....
Doctor Who
01:00 Did Russel say 'number one was bad wolf' ?
What does he mean by that if so?
(I know what Bad Wolf is in doctor who btw lol)
The production company they’ve partnered with was bad wolf!
It was actually created by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardener who left Doctor Who after Series 4, named the company after the series arc and they’ve produced loads of successful stuff since! Both of them are also now exec producers on the new era
@@NotAgnor Thanks!
Best Who show runner for me!
JNT > RTD
"That's a script that's been written by a scorpio" lol ncuti rocks
(Moffat is, funnily enough, not a scorpio.)
Boom was definitely the best of the new series.
Finally a good episode! First 2 were a shambles!
It's never the actors, only the writers to blame for rubbish episodes. Think where Jodie Whittakers Doctor would have been, if Moffat wrote for her era. She got short changed and so did the viewers.
@Sam-zu5mr This episode actually felt like Doctor Who. Ncuti felt like the Doctor for the first time since his first scenes with David Tennant. The episode was tense and dark and everything it should be. First 2 episodes felt like clowning around poor writing and too silly
Episode 1 definitely but number 2 was ok imo
@@Sam-zu5mr i agree Jodie is a great actress, Chibnall did her dirty
Good to see he hasn't lost his masterful ability of repetition - he's told that story about the email at least five times by now.
If you watch enough interviews with any person in front or behind the camera you’ll hear them regurgitate the same stories.
I mean, if different people ask you the same question, would you answer differently each time?
That's how interviews work. Watch every interview from anyone and they likely were asked the same question and gave the same answer multiple times.
Give him credit, he has spent the last three years having to cleverly not lie whenever he was asked if he was coming back. It's got to be a relief to just be able to blurt it out now.
Boom should have been a 2 parter, the lack of 2 parters in this series, or any sort of arc is a really bad move from RTD.
No ar....? Have you not been watching?
If Boom was twice the length it wouldn’t be Boom. Because there is no way you can stretch that plot out to 2 episodes and not fundamentally change the premise. The Doctor spending 2 out of the 8 episodes this season standing on a landmine would be the dumbest decision in nuwho! I personally think he needs to be running down more hallways! Lol
The season finally is going to be a two parter though.
I'm so mad we got bottom of series 10 Moffat rather than 5-6 or 8 Moffat
R.I.P DOCTOR WHO 1963 - 2017
Too true
If its been dead for over 7 years, then why do you have to keep coming back and saying it?
@@Einsteinium. it's really not true. Lol
@@To-New-Beginnings. It absolutely was. The last few episodes have changed my mind - specifically the ones since boom
@Einsteinium. I don't feel it was dead, but I do agree that the last few episodes have been better.
I personally thought the episode was quite rubbish
R.I.P. DOCTOR WHO.
Oh wow, you're watching all the clips on this channel to comment this? I feel kinda bad for you. Are you okay?
isn’t doctor who on for the next 5 weeks? And then on again in 2025?
You dropped this, Clown. 🔴
@NotRoyaleApple yup! A lot of people are spamming this in random comment sections to vent their frustrations, but the show is doing very well.
Dr whoke you mean? This show has gone to utter shit
Steven Moffat on returning to Dr. Who, waste of time and effort. With no audiance, Mr. Davies can play with the props on set!
I don't know who's been telling you that nobody's been watching the show, but they were lying to you 😁
Glad to hear you speaking for everyone when the majority of the reviews are positive
@@matthewlynch6658 Even the production team are allowed a tea break!
No one watched it! 😂 By the end of this season, the ratings will be in minus figures. Watching the death knell of this show in real-time is glorious fun. I can't wait for it to finally die. Because only when it's compost can someone replant the seeds of what it used to be and nurture it into something brilliant once again. RTD is a hack. Moffat is spent force and Chibnal was a troll.
Christ almighty, he’s onto Star signs. What sort of ting is this … le tchip
Also I found the episode mid - it was … fine. I mean, it was no Space Babies!
Moffat can be a good writer but was a lousy DW show runner. That said, DW is now dead. No one really cares anmore.
Yet here you are
@@ohbigstretchmore habit than passion and that IS fading
@@thomasloyal4525 certainly have a passion for talking about it. Feel free to jog on anytime
Then why are you here? Also glad to hear you speaking for everyone despite the last 3 episodes having positive reviews
@@novawolf_gaming I've lost track how many times I've been told in the last seven years that "true fans" are no longer watching the show. Always paranoid anti-woke wankers who perfectly embody the opposite of everything Doctor Who has always been trying to say.
