Awesome pedagogical approach ! Demonstrating with a beginner gives a lot of understanding of common errors and incremental improvements of the techniques. It's a great way to let us understand the fundamentals of the technique. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge !
You should do more of these "teach-a-beginner" videos. Sometimes you can know something so well that you don't even know what you're glossing over until a white belt is doing it in front of you.
Just found your channel, I'm from brazil and I've been working hard to get my judo brown belt this year, thank you so much for your videos they are helping me a lot
🤯 I wish you were my Sensei. I have loved judo since I was a kid and it's never been available to me to train. I settled for Brazilian jiu-jitsu which don't get me wrong I love.... But Judo has my heart. I love your stuff keep posting please
Great Video! I enjoy watching you bring back some of the basics. Like the new demonstrators. Maybe a timeline video of a white belt's journey in the future?
I used to hate this throw in high school. A friend of mine used to bust me with this all the time. We used to call it the " ouch you mother" That was 50 years ago. Last week when I talked to a friend who was in the club with me ,i said " you remember scrappy, he said yeah the uchimata dude " I was always afraid he'd hurt my nuts when he used it.
Thanks for the uchimata intro! I''m at the same level as Alina here, do u have any tips on how to use my height as a taller judoka? I'm 6"2 but skinny and have a hard time with judokas with a lower center of gravity than me Love your vids, much love from the UK
Suggest trying a higher lapel grip, even behind the neck of your tori. You'll have better control and easier time loading them on your hip. If uki backs away, use your longer legs to change direction and combo with ochi-gari.
@@killersalmon4359 😂 I’ve trained at one judo club. Aside from when I was a white belt when I was taught a couple throws without much explanation there was zero technique explained. Only when a white belt arrived was there some kind of explanation of o soto gari and perhaps o goshi. I had to rely on videos etc.
Sensei, I think a good idea would be to show us Judo for the street, the real one, the way Jigoro Kano created it, not for tournaments. Thank you very much Sensei 🙏
@@mauricematla1215 just keep it simple as white belt. My coach is Mark Huizinga, 2 times olympic medalist, thinks i am pretty good with uchi-mata by the way
@@Freko2011 How far did he ever get with the carp fishing ? Totally unrelated. But at least wondering if he is still at it ? That is nice but again it avoiding the question. I was asking how well you did at the same stage meaning a beginner with just a few classes ? I doubt your first attempts were worldschockingly better. I would agree not really a beginner throw on the other hand is there really such a thing ? O soto gari is mostly (at least in The Netherlands) the first or one of the first we teach can we really call it is simple ?
"arms don't do anything in judo" - help I'm dying
Started judo 1 year ago, at the age of 34. Then covid😡 cannot wait to get back on the matt
We can understand you. I'm also waiting for restart training. I started in 1981 with judo and really missing my friends there.
Feel you bro, same for me :(
I was 38 when I started two years ago
Still you can do lots of uchikomi.
I stopped 23 years ago. I am blue bel karate shotokan and green judo. I want to black belt both before dying

Lara: oh sure let her be the tori
Higashi Sensei just casually introduces Uchimata to a beginner as though it were an acquaintance he wanted her to meet. Well done!

"...2 to 3 times bigger than you..." she just called you fat Shintaro XD

I actually really appreciated watching another beginner learn the technique in real-time. Hoping to join the school once the pandemic isn't a thing!
Great episode. As a beginner myself I have the same confusion she had regarding the sequence of movements. More of this please.

Thank you - a great demo of my favourite throw. The white belt practicing reminds me we were all beginners once.

What a wonderful demonstration!
Poor thing pulling all the white belt jokes on her lol
Such a great & positive training atmosphere!
The subtitles at 2:55 are disturbing
Wuajajajajaja just noted hahahaha.
Nice... You make look everything easy.... Are there more of these "for beginners" videos?
I really like Shintaro... this guy is awesome!
Very nice! I know what we will be working on class today. Have several white belts who this would be a good one to play with. Thank you very much.
Most awkward intro, ever. :)
Thanks for the video.
I think it was great.
A minor note/suggestion for beginners: try to be sure your reaping leg is going up slightly to the right (or left) of uke's center line... 😬.
Beautiful throw sir
Awesome teacher!
Started Judo recently my teacher taught this throw day one. We used belts grips and a forward weight shift tho.
thanks for explaining so easily!
Shintaro's first throw looked a bit more like Hane Goshi

Small tip from across the Atlantic. Look away from uke ,the "victim" whil you throw him.
YESSSSS I said to myself i want to learn uchi mata!!

Go for the leg Uchimata, there is an example in this channel and others.
You don´t need to go as low as some japanese players do it.
英語上手いですねー。うらやましい!

More of these vids for sure! Maybe get Laura in these as well?
I sub'd and like the 'baby mama'...... I am an RN too... cheerrrs. Where's your studio at?
Thanks
I training judo 4 months I wanna do uchi Mata
😊
She’s so talented 😀❤️
Me Gusta El Judo Excelente
💯 like videos with real beginners so I can see how you adjust their technique.
Is it common to teach technique during classes?
Gentlemen, gentlemen, please, no teaching techniques during class!
What?!

Really bad execution of the uchimata from the white belt
I bet you did it like the next olympic champ at that stage ?
@@mauricematla1215 I was 6 years old as a white belt, but pretty sure we did not started off with uchi-mata. Not realy a white belt throw imo.
