Throwback photos show Merseyside's Pontins holiday camp as it looked 50 years ago.
Last month, Pontins in Southport announced the decision to close the holiday park with "immediate effect". The post read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Pontins Southport Holiday Park. After assessing the future viability of the park, we have come to the difficult decision to close our doors.
Built in 1970 at the height of the British Holiday Camp industry, these brilliant photos offer a glimpse into Southport Pontins half a century ago.
Over a decade ago, a Pontins brochure from 1972 was bought on eBay and uploaded to oldcolorimages.com's Flickr account and the ECHO previously shared a number of images featured.

I remember as a kid growing up in Britain in the 1970s having some golden wonderful holidays at pontins , it was a magical place , full of excitement, noise , and colour,....but sadly Britain is not the same place i grew up in ,.. its become an haven for crime and disorder,....its become dirty and broken,...those golden times of summer holidays at pontins in the 70s , are just fading memories now,....but the fun and great times we had , were golden , and will stay with me forever....
