      Not to make excuses, just pointing out a technicality, a ZL1 in a circuit track setting is down at least 50 horsepower due to excessive intake temperatures. It has two maps that pull timing based on downstream manifold and IAT temps. All stock on a track they pull around 6-10 degrees normally. That said reduced timing in a blown car like a ZL1 does not reduce lowend and mid range torque as much as you'd think so it's still got that stump pulling power out of the corners.

The ZL-1 1LE is my dream car and everyone know that the track advantage with the same driver goes to it, but…… I always wish it sounded as good as the Mustang and sometimes I almost think I would give the Mustang the advantage in the looks department if I wasn’t so smitten with the Chevy. I don't get those Mopar boys and their 1/4 mile times. This is so much more fun. Talking about those worn Cup 2's... Yeah, I've got a prepped 1st gen CTS-V and used to run a Honda Civic. That's the one disasvantage of high torque V8's on the track. They eat tires like snacks.

    There's no way a gt350r could hang with a ZL1, most certainly not a ZL1 1LE. The 130hp difference is more than enough to dust the Ford. Not to mention the torque advantage the ZL1 has.

    • @leggoracing8451
      @leggoracing8451  2 года назад +2

      It really depends (mostly drivers game), however the gt350 with it's "lack of torque" is able to get on power out of a corner much earlier and harder than the ZLE. The ZLE requires smooth throttle inputs for tight turns otherwise you're just drifting or spinning.

    • @dominicksforza3484
      @dominicksforza3484 2 года назад +1

      @@leggoracing8451 true, the driver must have his game on but as you mentioned, the gt350r can come out of a corner faster and whatever advantage that may give it the ZL1 has more than enough stones to negate that. The ZL1 1LE however can stay with the gt350r through the turns then dust it when things open up. For proof of that I read the ZL1 1LE dusted the normal ZL1 the Nuremburg track, much quicker due to the wing and fins and suspension tweeks. Exactly how much faster I don't recall but it was significantly faster.

      Less than 1% of Gen 1 5.2L engines had issues, and it was narrowed down to one team that had a trainee that came from the Chrysler plan down the road. So if you want to cherry pick, by all means, knock yourself out.
      Now, if we are going to talk about legit issues, let's talk about the ZL1 supercharger, and the problems that GM continues to ignore since 2014 that causes catastrophic failures, and it's not isolated to one issue, it's the entire build.
