My very first single record in the 1960s - a DECCA 7"! On the other side "Lets spend the night together" After all this years always a thrill to hear Jagger and his combo!!!
Keith's vocals here are beyond amazing. the harmony he creates with Mick on the chorus is absolutely perfect, and no doubt on the fly, probably just happened that way, knowing him
It was all he really did on the recording - backing vocals. This track was mostly Brian Jones - he played guitar, piano and recorder. Wyman played the bass.
@@chrisjames6327 The guitar on the studio version is Keith- and he played the double bass with Bill as an overdub. As for Brian playing the piano there is some dispute about that as some sources claim it was him, and others claim it was Jack Nitzsche. The piano playing itself reminds me more of Nitzche's other work with the Stones (like Let's Spend the Night Together) than Jones' work, so I'm inclined to believe he played the piano part. As for what else Keith did for the song- how about actually writing it?? If you listen to the chord structure of the song it is very similar to the ballad structure built around Am that Keith favours for slower songs (see also Wild Horses and Angie.) By most accounts Brian certainly helped with the flourishes like the recorder, but the melody and chords (and most of the lyrics) are all Keith!
She would never say where she came from Yesterday don't matter if it's gone While the sun is bright Or in the darkest night No one knows, she comes and goes Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you Don't question why she needs to be so free She'll tell you it's the only way to be She just can't be chained To a life where nothing's gained Or nothing's lost, at such a cost Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you "There's no time to lose, " I heard her say Catch your dreams before they slip away Dying all…
This has always been one of my favourite Rolling Stones songs, because for me it's a perfect combination of nostalgia, melody, poetry and a celebration of the bohemian lifestyle, and at the same time it reminds me of so many of the girls I met at rock concerts when I was young. It's so easy to imagine this Ruby Tuesday girl. Every time I hear this song, I have this image of this pretty girl dancing at a concert with flowers in her hair, and a big smile on her face.
We all had our own Ruby Tuesday. I was 18, she was 25. I wonder every day where she is. I hope she never was chained to a life where nothing was gained....

This song was written by , of course Keith, and Brian Jones, oh. They worked together on the song in Courtfield road, where Brian and Anita lived with Keith as a steady guest. And the credits go to Jagger/Richards.
@@philfrank9226 Marianne Faithful claims she saw Brian and keith working out the melody together on a piano. What she actually saw was Keith showing Brian the chord progression and the triad inversions for his recorder.accompaniment Since Keith wrote the song on the piano they were sitting at the piano. She was mistaken. All descriptions of authorship by Keith, Bill, Glyn Johns, Sean Egan and Jagger are that Keith wrote this song by himself. At the point in time when Marianne saw them sitting at the piano Keith had already written the entire song...Melody, lyric, chord progression harmonies and most of the arrangement. Keith is a decent piano player but not a fabulous one. So he had Jack Nitzsche clean up and embellish his piano composition for Jack to play on the recording. The recorder accompaniment Brian played was the last track added to the otherwise completed arrangement. I go by the account the guy who wrote this very personal song gives about it's creation, Keith Richards. Brian NEVER wrote anything before , during ,or after the Ruby Tuesday/ Let's Spend the Night Together, recording sessions. He just wasn't creative at all. Both arrangements on this double A single featured Jack Nitzsche's fantastic piano accompaniments as is credited by ABKCO. The only one spewing "rubbish" here is you, Phil.
Like the keyboard on this!!! Alot!!! The guys are really visibly sweating here!!! How long have they been on stage and how long is this concert??, Like this song and would put it on the song list for their upcoming European tour!!!🙂🙃😉🤘🤙👍

I'm not sure but at one point Keith sounds drunk at 1:38
It was all he really did on the recording - backing vocals. This track was mostly Brian Jones - he played guitar, piano and recorder. Wyman played the bass.
And the most amazing fact, it is that the song was written by Keith. A wonderful ballad.

Aren’t the backing vocals mainly another vocalist too!? Keith provides some during chorus but they have a proper vocalist. He sounds amazing too!
Love the Stones - always have - always will.
@Mike Barooshian and our lives
She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows, she comes and goes

Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
Don't question why she needs to be so free
She'll tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
Or nothing's lost, at such a cost

Ruby Tuesday
The Rolling Stones
[Verse 1]
She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes
[Chorus]
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
[Verse 2]
Don't question why she needs to be so free
She'll tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
And nothing's lost
At such a cost
[Chorus]
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
[Verse 3]
"There's no time to lose," I heard her say
"Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams and you
Will lose your mind
Ain't life unkind?"
[Chorus]
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you

i wonder which one of them came up with this number one hit???
Ruby Tuesday was all Keith. It was a very personal song about a real girl he loved who broke his heart.
He can play the drum patten live.
I mis the flute!!
The sound of that flute should play by handsome brian jones....

Interesting take. That piano is way to busy. They went for a rather baroque rendition.
