been playing Starfield on a 6800xt this week, and have zero complaints. no crashes. no dev errors. no screen tearing and a solid 70-100 fps at 1440p, and ive got it set on mostly ultra settings. i tried the 4k fsr and got around 60-75fps max settings. looking forward to trying my 7900xtx next week when i get to my ny house and dont gotta work down here in florida heat lol

Fabio, first of all, congratulations for the excellent quality content.
I just gave up playing this game. I use an R9 5900X, 64Gb RAM and an RX 6800, and in the city of the first planet, even in the 1080pUW preset Low, just increasing the rendering scale to 80% (FSR active), there were moments when the FPS dropped to around 40~ 50. I can't believe the game is really that heavy to be at this level. I can only think of an optimization problem anyway. When I see patches that fix this, maybe I'll give it another go.
In comparison, on this map in the first part of the video, the FPS was above 120. But on the first planet (New Atlantid, or something like that), and on Venus, the drop was monstrous.
I can only imagine 1 point besides the bad optimization, which is the fact that my monitor is UltraWide. So 1080pUW would be close to 1440p Widescreen in performance (due to pixel density). But even considering that, the performance is still terrible. Compared to other titles, even on day 0 I played TLoU P1 above 110 fps with everything on High.

I tried Starfield yesterday on my system.
I run a 5800 X3D CPU and RX 7900 XT GPU and just let the game decide what graphics setings to run.
It ended up at 1440p Ultra settings with FSR2 enabled.
The Adrenaline software reported an avarage of 135 fps but I haven't got very far into the game yet.
I was pretty happy with that to be honest but I may play around and see what I can get in native.

5800x3d with 3600 cl15 memory and 7900xtx fsrq 85% though at 3400x1440p and you probably found out already but you will be getting less than 80fps probably less than 75fps if your memory/CPU isnt well tuned.

thank you so much for making this video, as im getting tired of people thinking "no gpu can play it" as ive been hearing. i personally use my 6750xt and it does fine with the right settings at 1440p. but i truly think 1728p or 1800p is the way to go for most people who want a bit more performance but not go as low as 1440p or upscale. :D

I played some Starfield today. I made it to a completely different star system using a gravity jump and landing on the next planet before calling it quits for today. My current setup runs between 40-60 FPS at 1440p low. My current setup is an MSI GL65 laptop with an i7 10750H, 16GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM and RTX 2070 connected to a 32” 1440p 165Hz G-Sync/FreeSync Premium monitor.
    The PC I’m building will be a massive upgrade from what I run now. It’ll have a Ryzen 9 7950x, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM, and a Sapphire Tech Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX.
I’m also planning on upgrading my monitor to the 45” Corsair Xeneon Flex 3440x1440p 240Hz Ultra Wide OLED monitor, getting the Bigscreen Beyond VR Headset, a HOTAS, and a steering wheel setup. As I’m planning on getting into DCS World, and I already play American Truck Simulator using as simplified controls as possible on an Xbox Controller. As I can’t even use standard automatic transmission settings let alone a manual transmission until I get a wheel setup. I also have an interest in iRacing.

All ram at 3600mhz and they all push 100 fps in 1080p and 1440p no issues. Had some crashes here and there with the 7900xtx combo on Ultra/High setting, everything enabled except motion blur. I noticed my ram utilization jumps up to 85% in the dense city parts. Crashes and hangs as well were upon loading in and out shops/ship and running with amp aid while over encumbered in open map. Frame rates dropped to 60-70fps in New Atlantis coming out of train station, spaceport, and in the well.

Awesome video as always, Mr. Ancient Gameplays, informative and entertaining.
I have a question that's more related to your previous video. So, regarding the shade cache problem of the last two driver versions, you recommend the 23.5.2., however that one caused one of my fav games (Far Cry 3) to crash midgame, which didn't happen with 23.4.3. Is 23.4.3 as good as 23.5.2 ?

    • @AncientGameplays
      @AncientGameplays  10 месяцев назад +1

check your OC stability in the first place, if its not the OC, then revert to 23.5.1 or 23.4.2

one random crash can just be a game bug, and a repeatable crash can also be a game bug. Repetitive random crashes are a sign of a hardware or driver problem.

@@marsovac I had regular crashes in this particular game. When I reverted to 23.4.3 problem was solved. Currently I'm on 23.8.1 and haven't experienced a crash either (so far). It's weird with drivers, isn't it? But I heard Nvidia users experience stuff too.

Could you try testing the game if there's any actual difference in performance with 32GB/64GB RAM versus 128GB RAM? It seems Buildzoid noticed that this game is somewhat reliant on Memory Bandwidth. The faster the RAM the higher the performance in huge performance percentage jumps. I'm wondering if having more RAM capacity helps too since there's more RAM to dump the data into while the bandwidth is utilized constantly by the game. Nobody seems to want to test this at all.

I see my gpu usage about 80-90% in that area. I undervolted and tweaked PBO setting for my CPU. Can this be the case why I lack that 10fps difference? Also, I am not using EXPO, games start crashing randomly, this can occur every hour or even not crash that evening at all, so I just set 5600Mhz speed for my ram. Should I use XMP maybe?
