The reason your hair may have not been growing lately is the using of oils and/or butters. I was using any and everything 'natural' for the last 5 years and my hair would not grow. I had to take it back from when I was young and now just use a creamy leave in and hair grease as my moisturizer/sealer. And when I retwist some nights, I spritz with water and seal with just a little grease on each piece. My hair is now growing and stays moisturized. Oils and butters kept my 4b hair dry and brittle. I am a 61 yr old woman. Back in my youth we wore afros that grew like weeds and no one used shea butters or oils in our hair, strictly grease and not even leave ins. Don't sleep on grease, it was that you used too much. A combo of a creamy leave in then grease as a sealer and then maybe a mousse or gel for a twist out or wash and go would probably be 🔥 and may also grow your hair back to the length it used to be.
How often do you remoisturize your hair with grease in it before you wash it? I found that sometimes when I would remoisturize, it's like the product sat on my hair, but I was using a water spritz. I think I might need something heavier like a cream to penetrate it. I just started using a cream leave in I finally liked about 3 months ago, but haven't tried it with grease yet. Grease helped me break my bra strap length plateau to tailbone, and then I stopped, got boujee and went back to olive oil and other butter products 😑. My hair has been shedding like crazy, and it's almost like my growth is stagnate again. I was just thinking I need to go back to grease and wondering why the heck I even stopped. Smh, I get bored easy and want to try new things 🤦🏽♀️ especially when I hear it helps with growth and softening. I just need to stick to ole faithful grease and stop being boujee 😭.
@ Sometimes I'll remoisturize every two days because I have thin strands straight 4b HIGH Porosity hair which equals it drying out superfast. That was my same problem, using everything but grease and my hair would snap break and not grow much at all. And I also noticed I had been finger detangling and wondering why my hair was thinning even more. Realized it was due to my natural nails being like sharp razors and they were shredding my hair. So I had to stop finger detangling and go back to using a wide tooth comb to detangle. I also noticed that the tangle teaser is NOT MY FRIEND, that was also leaving little pieces of hair on the sink which meant it was also shredding my hair. I have had so many setbacks but I keep trying to eliminate things that aren't working for my FRAGILE AH hair. So far the LCG method has been the best and I've just started that in the last 4 months so for now I'm good. I'll keep going that route to see how much length I can retain. I also switched to regular Pantene Moisture shampoo and conditioner which doesn't have oils or butters so those are my go to for wash day. Good luck, I know it's hard.
@@user-eb5wq3vi2j Thank you!! We almost have the same hair too! I have fine strands also, medium to high porosity, and my hair ranges from 3c to 4a!! Fine, high porosity hair is frustrating because it webs and tangles on itself so easy! Also the ends always look sparse or thin despite not having split ends or damaged ends. You, and everybody else, thinks you need a trim but no matter how much you trim it like the girlies on the viral videos with the thick blunt cut ends, our hair looks the same, like we need a trim 🤣 and it keeps tangling on itself lol. I lost so many inches to useless trims not understanding my hair will just look like that! More fine, high porosity girlies need to speak out!! I do notice it weaves less & doesnt snap or shed as bad with grease though like you did lol. Just can't get the moisture back in without washing the grease off. Thank you for the tips & reccomendations!! I'll try them!
@ OMG! You just described my hair to a T! The other night I blew my hair out and said my ends looked scraggly and wanted to trim but remembered I just trimmed last month so I put the scissors away! And the tangles, they are never ending although I try to be careful when detangling. This is why I use grease, it softens so my hair isn't ripping out as much when I detangle. Good luck to US with this high porosity thin strand hair in 2025!
I went back to using Blue Magic a while back and added it to my girls hair. Keeps our hair from drying out so fast. I just grease the scalp. It makes our hair so soft
Girl, I am here to tell you that those products work! My hair is growing and becoming thicker using those products after washing my hair. Trust me! It works perfectly for natural hair.🤎 Don't use to much grease! You're only supposed to use a little around your edges and grease your scalp.
Yes back in the day, but my mom would twist or style my hair with them hard ponytails things. Just to wear out nope. Lol but you’ve beautiful hair and yes head will be sticking to the pillow case or bonnet
For those of you who want something natural you can use whipped Shea butter add your own oils and glycerin (for hydration) just remember no matter which grease / oil you use whether the store bought or homemade it’s still grease and grease can stain your clothes and be messy on your neck etc.

Yeah. I only use grease on my scalp and ends of my hair to seal the ends. Its works wonders doing that only.

I think women in Africa use grease too! When I was relaxed we use to put the grease on our scalp. I’m going to go back to doing that for the winter.

I love the benefits of #GREASE but cause they use to put so much in my head as a youngin ; like you did in your hair, I don’t like using it much now.
