I don’t think he’s pissed off at all. He’s focusing on his instrument. Rhythm guitar in Mastodon needs a lot of concentration. The parts are complex with tonnes of signature changes and fret wizardry. This isn’t straight forward metal, it’s some very complex progressive metal at times
Troy is the fucking man! I wish i had half the voice he does. The whole band is just pure awesome and sleeping giant riff is one of my favorites of theirs. Wish I could see them live, on that Opeth tour woulda been outta this world!
There are more people that say that they never disappoint them in their shows... I think it's more about their energy at their shows... Brann's unbelievable drumming, Brent's passion chaneled through the guitar, Bill's ear-crushing growls and his headbanging and Troy's crushing stage presence, interaction and charisma (it's like, he doesn't have to even say a word through the whole show cause it's even more awesome that way)
I never realized this band had so much variety to their music until I started listening to them. I heard Colony of Birchmen and thought what a terrible band, then I heard Steambreather and thought "what? This cannot be the same band. They are a really good band.
@@thattypicalslimy8548 exactly that gave me the hurt...blood mountain, leviathan, and crack the skye are my go to albums right now but that'll change soon
For those of you who say that Mastodon doesn't put on much of a live show, from this video, I would agree with you. In fact, I would agree with you when I saw them touring with "Dethklok" or whatever. But I saw them a couple of months ago when they opened for Opeth, and they have really stepped up to a whole new level. Everything was much tighter musically. Vox were spot on from everyone, and all of their stuff just felt, deeper, for lack of a better term. It was awesome.
Seriouslly... don't clap at a metal concert. At church it's fine, but not at a Mastodon concert. Nice video, thanks for uploading. Not bad quality, steady camera with good shots of the guitar work.
I can't believe he really not only uses 3 Fullstacks live, but that these 3 FSs are one Marshall, one Diezel and one Orange... that actually impresses me much more than a wall of only one of those, because since all of them are miced up it is actually for the sounds sake. The sound is really fine tuned. And they are mucho better singing wise.
i was at the koncert in the first row right in front of troy and brent... i waited 3 hours to get into the front pit... TOTALLY WORTH IT... IT WAS AMAZING, I WAS FUCKING BLOWN AWAY... and even though they do the vocals a bit different it's good... i'we seen them 4 times and they have never dissapointed me :)
Mathias thanks for the post. Excellent sound for being so close to the fronts. The vocals from blood mountian stuff always sound great live. I think that is their natural range. On CTS with that producer I think they just went for it in the studio and were doing like6 or 8 tracks of vocals which are near impossible to reproduce live. Should have got a keyboard player who could help on the vocals.
idk what it is but i was listening to mastodon before they did the theme to the aqua teen hunger force movie and now when i here a song from them i have to play Cut you up with a Linoleum Knife, that song is heavy and fucking hilarious! the link if you haven't or want to here it!
I'm gonna try and see em live soon. I hope they play stuff like this and not all the hunter. The hunters badass, I just wanna hear shit from all over their catalogue.
@asd68576: Yeah, looks awesome. You can make them build one for you too, but I guess it's brutally expensive. I just wonder if it's heavier than a standard wooden guitar....
@anormalnick Mastodon have been around for a lot longer than this decade (which is just in its 2nd year). One of the greatest bands of the last TWO decades is more fitting :P
@oneloveman98 My guess is since they are Mastodon, and it's Brett Hinds; they didn't have to pay a dime for them. Look at Bills setup; Gibson Les Paul and an Orange and Marshall stack... easy $20,000 for the commoner!
@HideYourKids100 I see where youre comming from... I personally like it, but it doesnt have the consistency their other albums (especially remission) have had :(
@Koffling Of caorse you listen to sludge metal, Koffing... Now, i will battle thee and yu will be MY Koffing... but, how did i run into a poison type here?
I didn't know that the point of metal was to be as heavy as possible on every song. It's not a fucking competition on what band can go harder than the rest of them. Music is an art form, but clearly you missed that detail.
Bill is constantly debating with himself "keep playing guitar or kill them all.."
I never knew Bill did the leads for this
Matt Tritton I didn’t either! he sounds exactly like the album but better!
Neither did the camera man apparently
I hated that song when they opened for Tool in 2006 (I was 14 then), just wanted to see Tool. Now I love it.
You, sir, are a criminal.
What a line up!
Infinite path carved with unrivaled skills.
0:31 Bill looks really pissed off that they're actually clapping to this track, lol
Ikr
MarcusAurelius to be honest he always looks like that
Yeah God forbid people are actually enjoying themselves.

Cuz clappers suck
Best concert at roskilde by far. God it was amazing. Wanna see them live again so badly!!
This song is so freakin awesome.
"I cant decide which one of these amps to buy man." "Fuck it, buy them all."
I need to see them play this song at some point
Jesse Lapham * Were your eyes closed during this VIDEO ? 😂
Troy is the fucking man! I wish i had half the voice he does. The whole band is just pure awesome and sleeping giant riff is one of my favorites of theirs. Wish I could see them live, on that Opeth tour woulda been outta this world!
This band has gotten so much better live they're amazing.
love mastodon. hope to see them live some day!

gudalpesanz how could you hear colony of birchman and think they are terrible. That is one of their best song imo.
They're crazy. Got everything from brutally nasty sludge to 70s style prog pop.
@@thattypicalslimy8548 exactly that gave me the hurt...blood mountain, leviathan, and crack the skye are my go to albums right now but that'll change soon
Music for meditation.
This song is awesome

Their vocals have improved so much
simply perfection.
just saw em last night in KC and man were they AWESOME! One thing I noticed was Troy had a very screamy voice. It's intriguing how he gets that voice.
great video man! quality is great both sound and video
2:50 some DB sticks his dumb head in front of the cam and Bill walks back into view like a BOSS!!!
my favorite song!
NIce video! This was a great concert!
Seriouslly... don't clap at a metal concert. At church it's fine, but not at a Mastodon concert.

goddamn mastodon is epic

0:32 Bill's face "really guys? you're gonna fuckin' clap?"
Brent's vocals actually very good here!
no one could've predicted mastodon could sound like this.
i was at the koncert in the first row right in front of troy and brent... i waited 3 hours to get into the front pit... TOTALLY WORTH IT... IT WAS AMAZING, I WAS FUCKING BLOWN AWAY... and even though they do the vocals a bit different it's good... i'we seen them 4 times and they have never dissapointed me :)
Imagine Tool coming behind these guys being like "how tf do we compete with this?"
they opened for tool at one point 😂
@@zvyh.322 thats what i mean 🤣
They opened, so they were first... now Tool is behind them going HOW TF DO WE GO ON NOW AFTER THAT?!?! 🤣🤣🤣

έπος!!!! Μόνο Mastodon ρεεεεε!!!!
I'm glad Scott Hartnell quit hockey to pursue his dream of being in Mastodon.
Jonathan Garcia Hahaha holy shit. Now I can't stop waiting for Brent to fall over so I can scream "Hartnell down!"
WTF? Mastodon opened for Opeth? was that when they played in Sweden or something?
they are so high!!
It was a US tour. Saw 'em in Washington D.C.
idk what it is but i was listening to mastodon before they did the theme to the aqua teen hunger force movie and now when i here a song from them i have to play Cut you up with a Linoleum Knife, that song is heavy and fucking hilarious! the link if you haven't or want to here it!
@asd68576: It's a custom lucide flying V from the Electrical Guitar Company. One of a kind... :-(
Brent's vocals have gotten much better live.
Sick.
Please could you note what kind of recording device you used in there ? Sorry if it's written somewhere.
@br0neck yes its an egc electric guitar company. Google it.
@yprs thank man, this guitar is great!!!
@blackadder3 Its an Electric Guitar Company guitar. Super dope
I'm gonna try and see em live soon. I hope they play stuff like this and not all the hunter. The hunters badass, I just wanna hear shit from all over their catalogue.
what is the model of the Guitar that BRENT is playing here??
I fucking dig mastodon.🤯🧐🧐
Jamen, er det ik Johannes Møllehave på lead-guitar??
I was there. Great fucking show
@asd68576: Yeah, looks awesome. You can make them build one for you too, but I guess it's brutally expensive. I just wonder if it's heavier than a standard wooden guitar....
wow does Brent has same guitar company as Buzz from Melvins??
Bill looking metal as fuck in this vid
Bill needs to do more leads!
Buy Orange or the Marshall JCM800 wich they use! ^^ orange thunderverb serie's a good opition.. and it's quite cute.
@anormalnick Mastodon have been around for a lot longer than this decade (which is just in its 2nd year). One of the greatest bands of the last TWO decades is more fitting :P
@br0neck
was my first thought, too!
@oneloveman98 My guess is since they are Mastodon, and it's Brett Hinds; they didn't have to pay a dime for them. Look at Bills setup; Gibson Les Paul and an Orange and Marshall stack... easy $20,000 for the commoner!
Diezel, Orange, Marshall? Need some more variety up there.
@SnackNapper Metal= Heavy Talent. Mastodon=Heavy Talent. Metal=MASTODON.
@TD2243 It's from Eletrical Guitar Company. They make guitars with aluminum necks! Check them out!
They alternated opening and headlining between the two
@timetravelcaptain
Aren't very heavy? Hehe you haven't listened to much Mastodon, have ya?
You know there is a whole world outside of death metal.. Right?
youtube made me endure a 30 second gaga advert! FUCKING DO ONE. mastodon and red fang rule
THEY ARE SO HIGH
@HideYourKids100 I see where youre comming from... I personally like it, but it doesnt have the consistency their other albums (especially remission) have had :(
@timetravelcaptain Listen to Leviathan and the rest of Blood Mountain. Those will change your mind.
good thor in the bass.
Zach Galifianakis on the right side of the stage playing guitar LEGENDARY lulz
Either they sound terrible
Live or it's the camera's mic being exploded.
Like why cant you zoom out a bit and show them both...
@Koffling Of caorse you listen to sludge metal, Koffing... Now, i will battle thee and yu will be MY Koffing... but, how did i run into a poison type here?
@timetravelcaptain One word...Leviathan
Ohh yes because to be good you have to be heavy. Please tell me more about how hardcore you are...

@markowens88 I want to see people try to clap to Dillinger escape plan

The sound was really bad at Roskilde ):
They can't hear you man!
Nice troll, mate. Now go and listen to Call Of The Mastodon & Remission and report back with your findings.
Cry more.
I didn't know that the point of metal was to be as heavy as possible on every song. It's not a fucking competition on what band can go harder than the rest of them. Music is an art form, but clearly you missed that detail.
[stop clapping]
oh... :-/ damm.. xD anyways! xD
saw them at rock am ring '11 the sound was so bad...the concert was great but the sound...urghs
mmmkay.... i was looking for a ''sleeping giant'' (the band) video, this is kinda disapointing.
¿Mastodon gay? wtf dude.
