- Early June saw the early summer appearance of the International Campervan / Adventure Overland Show at Stratford racecourse. I was there in the RUclipsr section, along with loads of others. There was cake and tea and lithium batteries galore.
If you liked the video and wish to leave me a tip, thank you!

Next up on Vandemonium.. David does an Aquavan conversion so his van can also sail the canals and the motorways! Ahoy and Cheerio!
We feel so honoured that we made it onto your channel 😍 Was lovely to meet you at the show. Your vlogs are simply brilliant!! Best wishes, Christiane and Dave
😀😀😀👍
I'd love to have one of those mini lime green electric two seaters. Unfortunately, I think my son would pretend not to know me if I showed up in one.
Haha yes, imagine doing the school run in one...
Wonderful, David. Just the right balance of chat, information, superb camera work, and your unique sense of humour.
John, Ontario, Canada
Thank you
that cake looks mighty tasty David
It was 😋
After a shitty day at the office (are there any others?), David's videos always manage to cheer me up. Hopefully we will experience the platinum jubilee of his RUclips channel together... 😉
After watching your vlogs, every time I take public transport, I look to see how buses and such could be converted into new age transportable abodes!
🤣🤣
Keep it up David! Enjoying your video's as always
Thank you David for reviewing the show. I know how it is when you have tantalizing options in front of you with money in your bank account. Very easy to loose the focus on what you originally planned for the money. Stay strong though, you can overcome the temptation. Have a good weekend.
True. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you got to see some fun things and still get out before the boat money could burn a hole through your pocket out for new thingamajigs or such.
Ooh, I really enjoyed this episode!
So many great camper vans and modifications.
Thanks for giving us a good look around.
Also, congratulations on your Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Wishing you all well, and continued good fortune.
Best Wishes
Thanks David! Wonderful as always. Rainy weather in Brittan, who'd have imagined that? Just remember "stationary house in a fixed location with a foundation attached to the earth" is what you're looking for. ;-}
Fun vlog …thank you, so good seeing The RUclipsrs I also follow.
"The wind was keeping the flags fluttering while the campers were keeping the beer flowing" Okay THAT had me chuckle quite a bit David :P
Wow, that was fantastic David. Thank you so much and best wishes
Looks like a trailer made of an old VW Jetta.
Agreed!
The cow car is a VW Jetta.
I only watch Vandemonium because I enjoy your narrations and the occasional rants which I really enjoy.
Cheers
I must say roaming radfords new can looks very smart
It’s all shiny!
Good to see you do your own stunts
Thanks for posting!
that trailer looks like a 90s VW Jetta, I believe the trend was started among the VW community about 15 years ago by a guy who had a VW Passat with a Passat trailer.
Always enjoy the show videos.
Ah that British weather! Love it when you do those shows and you think the campers are huge!
Those two classic, albeit electric, vans looked awesome! A word of advice for looking and dreaming about things you think you can "afford", take your mind off your money or someone else will be taking it out of your account. Looks like a fine time out there!
What a lovely video David. Thanks!
There's nothing better for a day out than shared enthusiasm and the promise of cake - pity about the weather though!
Fun time. I’m like you I really liked that van with the drop down bed.
Some interesting vans. Don’t spend your boat money on the motorhome! Your argument for selling your boat and buying your house surely applies to a motorhome too. Your van is great so when you get your house you’ll have the best of both worlds 😂😂
Yes, it absolutely does and I have to keep reminding myself of that!
"Good cupboards above, Vanman! That was a good episode!"
David I say do it!!! Get the Mileo!!!!
Oh my, so dangerous to have sums of money in the bank account! I hope you find the perfect home soon. Such a great event, thanks for sharing it! I think my favorite was the Scooby Doo van.
Tents look amazing.
Very interesting seeing all type of van. Thank you David, have a safe trip to Wales .
12 volts 216 AH, that's not bad! Thanks for an interesting video! 👍❤
Heaven forbid some rain and overcast turn away the British people!
Also, glad you guys have been having a grand time with the Jubilee for the queen. May she have many more happy & healthy years!
You had me at cake!! Your videos are always so fun! You’re a joy!
There is a range of options on the market! I would skip the 'ruggedized' military-style options in favor of extra interior space. In the United States, Ford makes a line of Transit delivery vans. Choose one as a donor and build it out as a camper.
What a surprise seeing north american school bus campers, they must be massive on your UK roads!
Yes, tricky in many places I’d imagine. Then again our regular bus services manage to get about town so it must be possible.
At 7:00 it is a second generation Volkswagen Jetta (84-92). Probably quite a late one, 1990 onwards as that's when I believe that style of back bumper was introduced. Probably more information than you needed to know but hey that's the kind of useless stuff I know lol.
Benimar very popular. We have a EuraMobil, an oldie from 2006. It’s sturdy. A lot of the new ones aren’t.
Great now I need an electric bike ... lol great video David!
Looks like fun
That was GREAT, David! Thank you! I am keen to know more about the miniature pick up truck that could run as much as 100 miles on a charge. I am also a big fan of the overland vehicles, though their costs are significantly higher than my actual (as opposed to my fantasy) budget can manage. I have found a compromise, of sorts, and have purchased a shuttle bus like one would find at a larger airport to take passengers to car rental agencies located off the airport campus. They will hold about 24 people vs. a school bus that can hold over 60. It gives you a few meters more space than the overlander but does not sit nearly as high. I am building a camper with a loo and shower and will then take it across the country to California and have it lifted. Not as high as what is called a “Monster Truck “ in the states but high enough to go further back in the country and up mountains than a normal vehicle can run. I will put a few after market gadgets like tire inflation and multiple cameras and lights and satellite Wi-Fi and security and whatever else strikes my fancy and have a wander around North America. My brother has decided that I have lost my mind due to the weight of it but I will also carry 200 gallons of water. It sits on a chassis that is a step above the heavier duty pick up truck but a step and sometimes 2 steps below an overlander chassis. It can handle 34,000 pounds and I am currently sitting at 13,000 and I cannot imagine topping an additional 5000 so I believe that I can carry 1,000 pounds of water divided equally but connected so that they remain in balance and will be mounted over the rear wheels. I understand his concern as he pulls at 1 man popup trailer behind his motorcycle and 100 pounds can be excessive. Between you and me? He will want to take it for a spin and he will enjoy it and though he would never admit it, he would like to have one. He CAN go back a bit further than a car but sticks to pavement out of fear he might get a scratch on his Harley. Oops. This comment is overlong and I thought I had quit doing that. Feel free to delete it.
Classic statement "not run many people over....", that made me laugh, thank you :)
Loved the vlog, David. And that van you've been considering is wonderful. Enjoy your time in Wales!
Make sure you by a house with that money. That is still a very wise thing. God bless you🙂
Most things at that show are for sale to lower your wallet thickness. That’s why there called Gadgets. I’m well aware you know this =). I live in Arizona . Very hot on the summer and freezing at night in the winter. I have lived in everything from a tent to 35 travel trailer. I live in a 1100 sf mobile home now and my electric is lower here. Go figure. Thanks for putting up with me. Cheers David
What a fabulous show. Great fun going around seeing them all. Weather doesn’t stop folk from having a good day out.thank you for taking us .
The Can Am cycle is great for towing a small motorcycle camper trailer , but you can also park them back to back and hang two hammocks (or one cozy double hammocks and mount a canopy tent whose legs bolt onto the bikes for stability
great vlog David, looking foward to seeing swanning about in a swanky new motorhome!
Vandemonium the European tour!!!
Gutted I missed you I was there Saturday you are right though it wasn't a pleasant day with the weather. Hopefully see you next time.
Thank God you have a new video. I need to walk for 20 minutes on the treadmill and this one and a re-listen to a Biscuits For One recipe will keep me company the entire time. Cheers!
Bit rude of Adz Ventures to shut the door on you, especially since it's you that introduced them to me. But then, they are stealth campers.
Ah, not really, I was standing in their shot!!
Thx for taking us with you!
:-D
Gimme that APC :D - Now that's a "Camper" for my taste (at least until I a) have to pay for it b) have to fill the gas-tank for the first time and start contemplating if buying a gas-station would be worth it :( )
❤️ Thank you
That looked like a Fiido D3 Pro Mini Electric Bike
(£519.57 ) you were riding.
Would have been perfect for nipping to the shops from your boat.
Not so much use in a campervan, but have fun in Wales.
Yes, that’s the one. Good fun but didn’t fold down quite as much as I’d like and the battery is not removable, which is a shame.
@@Vandemonium a stealth camper up in Canada has a camper made out of a Dodge caravan type mini van and docks a bicycle in the space he created by completely removing the front passenger seat , but if you don’t want to do that, a hitch mounted platform could be a good place for this little gem , but do you really need it if your whole house can go to market?
Well that was fun...
And I suppose we saw but a tidbit...
Thank you...
As to your possibly new van... imagine the cheese sandwiches 🥪!!😄
Ah, wet-cured bacon is wonderful. I have to go to MA, here in the US to get it. I found a place I can get black and white pudding, and bacon, so I'm not completely deprived.
That was very interesting, some weird looking setups out there...:) Thank you. Cheers.
Fun stuff! I had no idea that there were so many camper van channels on RUclips! But then, the only reason I noticed them at all was because there was this erstwhile ITV fellow with his own canal boat channel who built a camper van...
So many motorhome and campervan channels!
Ah, see, I was thinking Batgirl, not Batman. But perhaps that is due to my familiarity with Batgirl riding her batcycle in the 1960's TV series.
Great video again. Guaranteed a variety and informative too.
Awesome vid David 👌
I never tire of your presentations sir. Thanks for your passion and professionalism. The idea of roaming in a vehicle to where one's whim takes them, reminds me of a documentary I once saw about an Irish-American musician who spent a summer in a horse-drawn Gypsy wagon in Ireland, moving from town to town, pub to pub, and "playing for his supper" at each, not to mention meeting fellows. On my bucket list most certainly. Thanks for the reminder! :) Cheers.
Enjoy Wales! 🏴
Always!
Interesting versions over there! Thanks!
Looks like fun David
Nice one King David!
Cool sights at the show! Thanks for covering it again👍
Thank you for a tour of the Campervan show! Great to be able to peek inside. Have a great visit/trip. Love your vlogs.
The cardboard queen cameos are killing meeee
Great VLOG. David, I’ve often wondered if one could circulate water about the exhaust pipe, to heat water, storing it in a well insulated vessel, like the one shown, with an electric probe to keep it topped up? I’m thinking that one would ‘heat’ there water at about 30-40 minutes from destination, then park. I wouldn’t suggest running the engine just to heat the water, but rather as an attempt to capture that energy when possible. Thanks for another fun video
Yes, I meant to ask why they didn't do that instead as it would be even hotter than the air.
Normally, if you want to heat water while driving, you have a spice into the radiator hose. Then you add a circulating systen to your hot water tank from a unit put in between the splice.
@@Vandemonium even an heat exchange with the vehicles cooling system (assuming a liquid cooled engine). Most heat in such vehicles is done via a small radiator like vessel near the firewall. One could use that as a heat exchanger to heat fresh water.
I am so excited when a new video drops. Then I get sad when it over. Oh well till next time happy and safe travels.
So excited for this after seeing pictures on Instagram!
Looking forward to the next episode!
Nice to see you again ,David. 🙏👍🇦🇺
The bell tents are so cool! Not enough to tempt me out of doors but very aesthetic
Love the new van you're eyeing up. Go on? Push the boat out so to speak lol
The friesian trailer looks like the back end of a Mk 2 VW Jetta.
2:06 let poor Steve Radford live 😂😂 ratting him out
I’d watched videos from the usual crowd. This was the best of the bunch. Seems like your professionalism is showing. Stay safe.
Thank you
Go ahead and buy that van and then start a series on wild camping. Those would be some fun videos to watch.
Would love to see Dave roughing it in a little bivy in a wet wood!
At 8:41, a pack of Coors hiding under the seat? Cross that van off your list!
Cow Jetta campertrailor
'
Mmm, cake. 🍰🎂🤪
Squirty Cream should be used 24/7 on whatever or whoever you want! There are NO RULES! 🤣
I think you have good taste, sir. By your description it looks like you were looking at the 202, which looks good. My personal problem would be the fact that I could not trust the electric drop down bed to carry my weight and not break after some time - so I'd go for the 231 for its fixed bed myself.
If I had any money that is. Though, what is not can yet become and I've bookmarked the Benimar homepage just in case that ever comes up as a realistic thought. Thanks for that, and cheerio!
It *was* the 202! I am at a loss to recall exactly how it was different from the one I saw at the show, mind you.
Nice goin m8. Cupla goodies in there, thanks. Not sure I'd go as far as your Emily-Os, kinda still need mine to work for a crust-ish Pizza Deliv V-hicle too. But they are pretty kool! You and yours stay safe and well.
y'all would make good Texans, any chance for a good party. Great VLOG.
the pioneer valley in new england has electric assist bikes.
buy that Benimar motorhome.
Perhaps you could do a new build starting with a bigger vehicle? I much liked the vids you made about building your present motorhome, and I have full confidence in your capability to do it again, on a larger scale.
I would - if I had the spare money and the space to do it!
The curious trailer is the back of a volkswagen I believe David
Nice BTR (the 8-wheeled infantry fighting vehicle) Here in the States, not a few people buy surplus military Shop vans, on 2.5 and 5T chassis, to convert to campers.
Jetta.
👍
Do it, David--go induction! I'm sure I've babbled on about it enough already, but it would be great for a small, enclosed space like the camper van. Be aware that you may need to get new cookware, though.
What a pleasure, that is a pretty cool event. I see you buying some batteries in the near future. House! David, House! thats right remember the future, (old age) 😂.
So is Wales a friendly visit only??? I.E. no vlog. Well carry on my friend, see you soon
I could never survive in a little campervan, I would need at least the 9-meter one! The one I and my better half are looking is just short of 30 feet so you can go to National Parks
Enjoyed that! Whereabouts in Wales is your friend? You behave when you're over here!
