    1 correct slide size
    2 avoid bullet points
3 Topic + at least 1 support image
4 Choose a style that you like
5 Keep the text on the top
6 Show a "road map" (how far you've gone into the presentation)
    7 Use graphs and tables
8 Higlight the most important portions of your slides
9 Go dark during story time (take people's attention)

I have to say that when it comes to lectures and seminars, I actually do appreciate when the presentation covers all the key information and the lecturer makes it available for download or e-mails to all students, so I don't have to take notes for every single thing they say. I even print the presentation if it's extra valuable. I want to do this for my own students as well.

Just couple of things - first, after your dark slide, it is important that your next slide is not too bright. You don't want to blind people, especially if the room is dark. Second, Pat, it would be really helpful if you put any links in the description box so people can just copy-paste them.

Brother or sister, the kingdom of GOD is near, we need to repent and believe in Jesus Christ, so that our sins can be forgiven, and we can have eternal life.
If we don't believe in Jesus, we will die in our own sins.
Lying, Stealing, murders, evil heart, revellings, hatred, emulations, arrogant, strife, Envyings, commit adultery, seditions, bad words, porn, didn't honour father and mother, worship idol, homosexual, fortune teller, black magic, blasphemed GOD, claiming self to be GOD, calling a man as GOD, worship things made of gold, silver, wood, stone or other materials, worship animal as GOD, against GOD, did not want to repent and believe in JESUS, take the name of GOD/JESUS in vain and other evils things, these all are sins. If we did 1 of these things before, it makes us sinner. If we continue to do these things or sinning, we will die in our own sins.We need to repent through Jesus, to make our relationship with GOD good again, because There will be a judgement day 1 day, The people who believe in Jesus Christ and follow his commands will enter the kingdom of GOD, but the people who don't believe in Jesus and done evil/bad things/sinners will enter Hell.
Only Jesus can give you joy and real peace in your heart, only Jesus can forgive your sins, only Jesus can lead you to be a righteous man.
No other name except JESUS can save your soul and lead you to heaven.
This is about our eternal life and eternal death, so believe in Jesus and repent(Confess to GOD that we're sinner, stop sinning and follow Jesus teaching), to save our own soul and life.
Repent, and be baptized every one of us in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and we shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit/Ghost will guide us on how to become a righteous man, live and work according to GOD's will.
      Lord Jesus said:
luke6: 37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
You can read BIBLE online by searching it on google, you can start read from the book of JOHN. You can learn Jesus teaching from there. Here's one: www.esv.org/John+1/
If you have any stress, problem in your life, you can pray to Jesus and ask for His help, Jesus will listen to your prayer.
GOD is our Father, He is the ONE who made us and everything in this world. It's time for us to return to Him and acknowledge Him as our Father through Jesus Christ. Wake up people, return to your only ONE Almighty GOD and Father.

KISS - Pat shows that this formula works doesn't he? Keep. It. Simple. Stupid. (or perhaps; Keep. It. Supremely. Simple.)
Too often (and I'm guilty as charged) we use too much text, use it as a crutch, then read it off the slide because we're not very confident in what we're doing, and then lose the audience.
I intend to follow Pat's nine rules to the letter in future. It takes more work, and it takes more preparation, but the quality of what we present will be so much better!
Thank you Pat. Great presentation. :-)

Great video - subbed! Ditched bullet points about 10 years ago and never looked back! Also subscribe to the same visual impacts as you (large graphic and only 3-6 words). Another tip is to either use the “B” key or the screen key on remotes to blacken the screen as opposed to a black slide.... either way a black screen is powerful!

Really loved the video. But, could you show a video where you create a PowerPoint presentation on a specific topic? That would be better.

Thank You Pat for the tips. This video is very helpful. How did you get the numbers at the top of your slide?

This is my first time watching your content. I create slide decks for instruction purposes that are presented online, so it's a little different. Any tips for that? I'll also check out more of your content and thanks for the great tips!

Great stuff Pat...definitely sharing out to my audience.. What are your thoughts on animations or "building" slides to get listeners to focus?

    • @patflynn
      @patflynn  9 лет назад +1

Phil Ferrante I think there's a line Phil - you can definitely do too much animation. If it doesn't add to the value of the presentation I typically don't put it in. There has to be a reason for it.

This was great! I have a question for you, have you ever seen a slide that can be a interactive barometer?

thx for the video. Now, how do you make a video like you did? with voice over and putting in images/video clips, etc.? Do you do presentation first, then upload to an app like imovie or something?

Hey great stuff! Appreciate this can i ask 2 questions? 1. what do you think about using creative short video clips and if you think good where would you get them or have them created? 2. Where do you get great photos that make your point is there a resource library? Thanks
