    In this video, we fully disassemble the brake system on a BabyJogger City Mini GT (the system is identical on virtually all BabyJogger models other than the City Tour). We explain the system, show how one would go about replacing the brakeline or other damaged elements, and also explain how one would replace the wire if measuring out the wire yourself using generic parts from a bicycle repair shop.

    Hi StrollerWorkshop! With the help of your video, I was able to clean up my rusted CityElite brake. Thanks!!

    The right wheel of my baby jogger city select got locked while the left one is fine. All a sudden, the break couldn’t get released from the right one no matter how much i tried. I greased the break system but that didn’t do it. This video helped me a lot to fix it. I only had to disassemble the break system the way you demonstrated, grease and assemble again and tadaaaa! Thank you so much.

    Hi there! I love your videos. Thanks for them. Do you know the measurements of the springs in the break mechanism?
    The break peg sticks out as the spring has shortened with the pressure. I am looking to replace it with one of the original size.
    Thanks in advance.

    Our brake handle came off or baby jogger city mini double. Nothing else broke off, the handle is still intact and I can put it back on the stroller, but I'm not sure about which way the handle goes, one way the handle is way too lose, the other way it's very tight, I feel like I'm might break the wire off. I'm looking for some guidance on what to do. Thanks in advance!

    Question: Can this brake be used to replace the brakes on the City Select Lux? One of the cables broke on mine and I've only been able to find spare parts for this particular brake shown in the video.

      @@vanessalemmerman2570 We ended contacting Baby Jogger via Instagram, and they told us that we could order the exact spare part through one of their resellers (in our case Baby World Sweden). So that's what we did in the end.

    Hey, great vid. Do you have any videos that go into great detail reference the centre mechanism that actuates the lefthand side on the gt? In terms of springs, pins etc...

      @BarnevognverkstedNo  5 лет назад

      we pull apart the lower central mechanism in this video actually, about halfway through, it's the same as on the GT :) Are you having trouble getting the left pins / springs to line up properly again during reassembly so that it brakes symmetrically?

    • @leetaylor1512
      @leetaylor1512 5 лет назад

      @@BarnevognverkstedNo it does but just not enough detail on the middle section for me. I've recently just sold ours, only to have it returned through ebay missing the centre internal parts that connect to the lefts side plunger and pin. I've been trying to find out what's inside the centre section regards to pins springs etc. Hoping for a home repair.

    Hi, the wire got replaced in our City Select but I can’t find a stopper for the other end...! The brake wire i can find in the bike shop comes with just a thin stopper. that’s not big enough to “stop” it at the brake handle end to fit in that round hole. Can I find a bigger nipple somewhere? A cylinder shaped one, similar to what’s on an uninstalled bike wire’s end. Thanks so much!!

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  5 лет назад

      Yes. There are many types of nipples. Take your wire to a proper bicycle repair shop, explain your problem (with parts) and they should at least be able to order something for you that will fit. Alternatively, Babyjogger sells a replacement brake kit. :)

    I bought my stroller used and it would appear that the plastic housing that holds the exposed part of the pin where I connects into the center piece broke off at some point so there is nothing for the springs to push against and that tire does not break. Any suggestions on generic part replacement?

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  4 года назад

      If you're handy with a Dremel, you can probably find plastic pieces to form into the right shape, but you'll need to attach your home-constructed piece properly with tiny screws or rivets (not glue). Alternatively, Babyjogger sells a replacement brake kit including the whole lower bar, just contact Babyjogger customer service (or, of course check second-hand markets for defective chassis). :)

    Hi, my city select is rattling due to the brake pins not fully retracting. The hand brake has some slop in it and I'm thinking that could be the problem (already oiled, disassembled and reassembled the lower unit). Not entirely sure how to adjust the hand brake cable, any advice?

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  5 лет назад

      there is an adjustment screw up at the hande. The wire sometimes gets in the way, so apply the brakes before adjusting. Most Babyjoggers have the same brake system, so just browse our channel for more tutorials, expanding your search beyond 'select' :)

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  4 года назад

      This video shows disassembly of the whole system, but the problem in this case, may not just be the wire, but rust / grit inhibiting the movement of the pins /springs. If you disassemble the system, clean and de-rust everything, check if you need to replace the wire, and put it back together - there's a good chance it should work. Worst case scenario, you can also buy a new brake kit from Babyjogger. In addition, if the pin is only poking out a little in comparison with the pin on the opposite side, you can just try tightening the adjustment screw up at the brake handle :)

    Hey I'm trying to repair my city select brake assembly, which looks pretty similar to this one, yet I can't pull out the part you're pulling out at 5:18 in the video (which seems to be the reason my brake is stuck)... I tried everything, it wiggles a little bit, but just wont come out. Did Baby Jogger locked the part in place, in more recent models, to prevent us from repairing it and force us to buy a whole new brake assembly ? Would you have any advise ? Thanks

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  3 года назад

      It's possible they've changed it, but it could also be rust. You did remove both screws, I'm assuming (large one that runs through front to back, and small one shown at 4:22)?

    • @olivierjobin16
      @olivierjobin16 3 года назад +1

      @@BarnevognverkstedNo yeah both screws were removed. Pretty sure it's not rust, I've lubricated it very well and tried to force it out to the point of almost breaking it (which is pretty much the only option I have left)
