  • Diamond Dallas Page was one of the few home-grown WCW stars during the Monday Night War period, along with Goldberg and Booker T. So when he signed to come to WWE, it should have been a big deal. And based on the crowd reaction the night he debuted on Monday Night Raw, it was... but stalking The Undertaker's wife and being embarrassed by Undertaker in the ring doomed him to fail. Solomonster rants on why DDP never stood a chance, how he should have been booked, takes Undertaker to task for his burial and Bruce Prichard to task for his nonsensical attempts to justify the company's terrible. booking.

I don't think Taker does. Cause he, even now, is all about doing what WWE asks. He even said if Vince came to him now, he'd do another match. He dropped the streak, came back time after time to make up the numbers for WWE and that's not something you can say he changed in this one instance. Vince and WWE creative told him what to do, he did it. It's that simple for Taker.

From what I've heard, the reason Undertaker buried DDP was due a big misunderstanding. DDP is known for scripting & planning out his matches & fueds down to the wire, so apparently he tried to do that with this one but Taker probably misconstrued it as Page trying to control the fued. As Bob Holley once said "Unless your Vince, You don't tell Taker what to do Ever" hence his unfortunate burial.
Also Fun Fact: DDP himself said he wanted to fued with The Rock when he came in to the company but he was talked into the Stalk angle unfortunately.

And it's messed up how the people who sat out, Sting, Goldberg and the NWO, got back in and with favoritism. They're 100% allowed to do that, but WWF/WWE could've done a variety of things, including hold out until all of them were allowed to show up at once or threatened those who held out by saying, "we're not bringing you on this show if you hold out." If anyone can name me one storyline, during the invasion, other than Booker T,who didn't wind up looking like an utter chump, from WCW,I'll acknowledge it but to be completely honest I cannot recall one storyline that resulted in that and to be honest the one with DDP was the worst! The absolute, gutter, bottom of the barrel worst! From jump it was flawed. You had a man who everyone knew was married to a really beautiful woman and he was pursuing this other woman, who wasn't half as attractive, and yes,at first it might've been to get in Taker's head but after a while it morphed into the WWE trying to convince people that Page was legitimately obsessed with Sara. To be honest, after the whole thing with Undertaker was over it should've ended right there but nope. Had to humiliate DDP more by having Sara pin him too. I had heard there were rumors that DDP thought he was more important than he was,Something I don't believe.,that Taker didn't like him,and that he came in with too many ideas and to that all I can ask is,"Can you blame him?" They had a chance to get him back to what he was BEFORE the Jersey triad crap and what not and they never did it. They made him look like a goof and for Bruce Prichard to say,"Well, the fans didn't know who he was?" Ummm...yes,they did! They knew who he was when he took the mask off and even all these years later,in AEW,the fans know who DDP is. This is yet another case of WWE not wanting to use a WCW guy unless it benefits them and it's sad. DDP could've been one of the focal points of the alliance and maybe been the leader who turned it around for WCW but one sucktastic match between Booker T and Bagwell and Vince blows it all upl. It really makes me wonder how interested he was in making WCW another bring in the first pace.

I never understood the heat between Taker and DDP. I don’t know if it’s just because of Taker HATING WCW or maybe some unknown incident that took place between them when Taker was over there with DDP but he straight up buried him. I always hated that about Taker more than anything. Hey Deadman, or should I say, MARK CALLAWAY, maybe you wouldn’t be in some much pain now or you could’ve extended your career and had better matches in the last few years; if you gave DDP Yoga a chance. I got so much love & respect for DDP. He’s one of the nicest, hardest working guys in the business. Not just with his DDP Yoga helping so many people in and out the business, not just with him taking the time to save some lives (Jake The Snake, Scott Hall) but the fact that at the age of 34/35, he wanted to wrestle and he worked so hard to get better every time he stepped into the ring and became as a big of a star as he could in WCW. Oh and a big FUCK YOU TO Bruce Pritchard. Like some of his podcast episodes but he’s such a Vince ass kicker. I still get goosebumps from seeing DDP’s pop when he unmasked on RAW. He was over at the gate and they ruined him.

The whole fiasco with DDP, the way he squashed and humiliated a young Kurt Angle on a PPV where the newer guys all went over, the absolutely sickening chair shot on Mr Kennedy, the burial of CM Punk...he's not as bad as Hogan (who is?) but Taker has had some questionable moments as well.

T paid crazy dues though (if ya think about it). When Soly' said the reason why Sting was hesitant to sign with WWE, it was mainly because how they treated Booker T. He would either be borderline top-card or upper mid-card, and made him a comedy act.
Dumb-ass supermarket brawl with Stone Cold, [from what I have heard] the cringe-worthy racism program with Triple H. Even that segment 15 years ago with VJ saying to Cena "What's Up, my n***a" (with T having this baffled look on his face). He didn't get back up in the top spot until about 06'; then 07' he splits for TNA Impact.

I agree with everything Jason said about how WWF treated WCW guys but I think this idea that WCW couldn’t create their own wrestlers to get over is kind of ridiculous. Ric Flair, Cactus Jack , Vader, Sting, Ricky Steamboat, Rock n Roll Express, Sid, Luger, The Giant, DDP, Ron Simmons, Goldberg , the Steiner Brothers, Harlem Heat, Midnight Express, …. I mean even guys like Steve, Austin, and Piper and Dustin Rhodes became national stars down south way before they were ever in WWF. Roddy Piper held the United States championship a few times and other championships before going up north. Steve Austin actually held every championship in WCW, except for the world title, Cactus Jack was not some nobody before WWF found him. It goes both ways. Wrestlers have always gone back-and-forth especially during the 80s and 90s. You can’t even say WWF made Hulk Hogan. If you really break it down on who created the only thing WWF really should get credit for is the undertaker.
