Gasol vs Horford really seems like a close matchup, until you dig a little bit deeper and find out that it is not. 1) So, when you look at personal accolades, you see that Gasol had 3 All-Star selections, 2 All-NBA and 1 All-Defensive. Then you compare it to Al's 5 All-Star selections, 1 All-NBA and 1 All-Defensive. So, seems pretty close until you add Marc's DPOY-2013 award that puts him noticeably higher in accolades comparison. Also, let's make a note on where the difference in All-Star games comes from: Gasol played on the Western conference, it was much harder for him to earn these selections. For 8 straight seasons Marc has been 16+8+4+1+2, 48% guy in a winning team (Memphis went to 7 playoffs in 8 years and had an average of 58% win rate during the run). Still, Marc got only 3 All-Star selections. On the East it would've been at least 6 selections. Basically, Al proves this statement with his career: he went for 15+7+4+1+1, 52% stat line in 9 years on winning teams (8 playoff appearences) and got his 5 selections 2) When you take a look on a team-level success, you'll find out a lot of similarities as well. Both of the guys took their teams to playoffs quite a lot: including this season it's 12 times in 13 seasons for Horford and 9 times in 12 seasons for Marc. Both have been on the same number of contending teams (let it be teams with 50+ regular season wins): 4 for Al, 5 for Marc. They are also pretty close in terms of series they won: 11 for Al, 9 for Marc. Both had multiple conference finals appearances: 3 for Al, 2 for Marc. But only one of them got a ring so far. And yes, Marc was not a star in 2019 Raptors edition, but he produced solid numbers in the finals series (14+7+3+1+0, 50% in the first 5 games of the finals) and provided great defense. You add his phenomal country-level success with Spain to this and, once again, he seems a pretty obvious choice. Overall, I feel like Marc is still sort of underestimated to this day. Which feels sad as he's easily a top-3 center of his generation (and of the 2010s), while Al is not.
Passed on Jordan, Passed on Durant, Letting Lamarcus Aldridge walk. Blazers are the only pro team in Oregon, havent won a title since 30 years before I was born. Might just have to switch to being a Lakers fan like everyone else haha
The OKC Thunder got rid of Jeff Green bc they thought they would need to match up with the Bigs of the Western Conference. Cole Aldrich and Nazr Mohammed wasnt cutting it so they got Perkins. Then the League starts getting smaller with 3s playing the 4 which made Perkins useless in the Finals. OKC had a good offensive small ball lineup before the league understood the benefits of small ball. Westbrook, Harden, KD, Green, Ibaka.
Drafting is hard rarely more than 1 bonafide super star in a draft sometimes there is none and on the rare occasion their is two a guy who can take you to a championship

Basically, Al proves this statement with his career: he went for 15+7+4+1+1, 52% stat line in 9 years on winning teams (8 playoff appearences) and got his 5 selections
2) When you take a look on a team-level success, you'll find out a lot of similarities as well.
Lillard was actually the Nets pick, so it's possible that they still trade Gerald Wallace for that future 1st rounder
Passed on Jordan, Passed on Durant, Letting Lamarcus Aldridge walk.
Blazers are the only pro team in Oregon, havent won a title since 30 years before I was born.
Might just have to switch to being a Lakers fan like everyone else haha
Noah is one of those guys that you would absolutely love on your team and hate him on the opposition.
I would definitely take al horford with the 2nd pick
God I love these. But only if bill is running them
The Oden call may be Bill Simmons' best ever...
Jeff Green had his life saved by the trade though.
Russillo: Do it.
Bill: So badly don’t wanna do it.
Russillo: you have to.
Russillo: Or you can do something else.
🤯🤯🤯
Horford and Gasol have about equal career's. It's kinda funny that they were both snubbed from the 2013 all star game.
My only T. Young memory is when Harden did that stupid step back- behind the back 3 and it went in
Here after Jeff Green dunked on Giannis and made everyone believe in him again for a second lol
More frustrating Green to root for as a Celtics fan, Gerald or Jeff ?
Jeff Green was intoxicating. I’ve never been able to explain it
Still enjoy watching him. He's a good role player on a team going all the way
Simmons said Conley won because he was on Gasols team how dumb does that sound, he was an excellent two way pg who could shoot
Never forget, Marc Gasol held Joel Embiid to 0 Pts in a PLAYOFF game.
Drafting is hard rarely more than 1 bonafide super star in a draft sometimes there is none and on the rare occasion their is two a guy who can take you to a championship
I was also on the Jeff Green bandwagon. I thought he could be the next TMac in a slightly bigger frame. It’s still not too late, right?
(Scratches neck) Hey Bill y’all got anymore of them Jeff Green takes? I just need a quick fix, Russill knows what it’s like to go on a three day Green bender.
Thad Young is a good player but I mostly like him due to the dynamic with him forced by the 2k series.
Afflallo was an occasional 5x5 threat.
lol they only picked Boston highlights even though his best years were at the end of his Atlanta run
this dude bill legit just drafts guys who either make kobe or lebron la or miami look bad and he loves to talk about it non stop like a jealous hater..smdh...hes always just bringing them up in negative light but never mentions them winning when he talked about them in oprevious videos yet talks about his 08 celtics like they won 4 in a row...smdh kinda am sick of it....seriously he does it all the time
no love for the chairman yi jianlian 😤
Corey Brewer was Alpha Dog A or B that game 6 depending on how you view Josh Smith
Mike Conley was defence first kinda point guard and gasol and zach Randolph was majority of there offence anyways and 18 ppg on 40% shooting I’ll take it
Shouldn’t you guys have come to an agreement of who is drafted at each pick if your doing it together or did I miss the rules
you gotta do more redraftables with russillo lol
Bill "Giannis will be a benchwarmer" Simmons
