Ann you are so right about this and I also think it's wrong to do what they do
Hi anne
🌲🎅🌲
ur accent is so beautiful💕
I hate that your having to cut down to every other week. If I could I would definitely give to your patrons.
When ever she said “there’s one more step to this recipe” and poured in dry basil so many shots were fired.
You gotta love her she's the best
I couldn't stop laughing at the one with the basil 😂😂😂
The better version is when she made Charcoal ice cream and said “they forgot to mention the last step and that’s was throwing in the sink”
😂
I would argue all the shots were fired >.>
i love how she is nicely and sarcastically roasting them in the nicest way ever
Yeahhh !!
Hahaha i was really laughing hard with her sarcastic but nice moves
Ikr'
I was about to say the same
She may be part Canadian

This channel should become a cooking channel instead of a baking one, because Ann already does so much roasting 😂
Best comment ever 😂
Lol that’s a good one

It’s called how to cook that! Not bake that - it covers the roasting.
🔥🔥🔥 BURN 🔥🔥🔥 on all those fake channels she is DESTROYING!

As a Chef, I see so many recipes that don't make any sense and still have so many views only because of the nice end result that shown to the viewer and the satisfaction of the RUclips Algorithm.
I am really not surprised that these type of creators don't want their faces in the video that they create.

@Didi Sadieh that's pretty much what spilling the tea means 😉
@Didi Sadieh mine neither... much love 😁
What really bothers me about the gummy bear one was that it didn’t need to be fake. They could have just done it with jello
I think it is because candy seems more appealing to kids because a kid would usually be like "ooh candy" rather then "ooh Jello" but I agree
yeah but less clickbait-y and we can't have that 'cause $$$
Ikr
Yeah but for this channel it needs to be like "oh wow i didnt know i could do that". It needs to be viral and it to basic to use jello
You could still make it with gummy bears... but you would need to add more water and some softener like monosodium phosphate dissolved in the water to give the gelatine in gummy bears that pectin-like feel.
JELLO IS STILL BETTER !
Doesn't anyone really love Ann's background music in this video that totally reflects what is done on-screen?

Yes. I love Johann Strauss II's dance music. It is so much fun to listen and dance to.
The worst part about that gummy bear hack is that box jello would be so much easier to make than melting gummy bears 😭💀 like there's no point in faking that..
I feel like "So yummy" and the likes are baking channels for people who do not want to bake. Instead it´s for people who just passively consume cooking content, thinking:"hey that´s a good Idea" only to never try and and not find out it´s fake. Or worse yet, some beginners may try and get discouraged because the bullshit recipe did not work and they blame themselves for lack of skill while in reality they are being conned.

That is the right (scientific) way to do it.
Honey, if you know anything about cooking, it's OBVIOUS they're fake.
+Komkwan It's great that she did that for the audience, but you do not have to do an experiment to know that melted gummi bears will HARDEN when they cool off. Or that ice cream won't magically become poofy again once it's melted.
@@Serai3 She probably did it for the people who are/were watching this video and do not know these things, not everybody is that smart/educated or knows a lot about cooking in general.
The best way to show people is by doing these experiments, so people can see with their own eyes that those 'cooking tips' shown on that stupid channel are fake.
you do not even need to test a single one of so yummys so called "recipes" to know they wont work.

As a gardener, the herb part really hurt my brain. You cannot dry herbs on high heat. You have to use the lowest heat for a very long time in an OVEN.
never dried herbs before but even my brain was screaming - OVEN!
good to know its low heat long time. If I ever get the chance I will definitely NOT wing it and look up recomendations first ^^
@@Nolascana That is what I did. I looked up many methods. One girl showed how she does it in the microwave by turning down the power and also using different settings on it...however I don't understand then the point of going through growing your own herbs if you're gonna torch it in a microwave, microwaves change the cellular structure of foods. My favorite and only used method now, is preheating the oven to the lowest heat, while it's heating, lay out the herbs on a cookie sheet face up (Basil shouldn't be flat to sheet because air won't get to the underside.) It would even be best if you had a metal grate that fits inside the cookie sheet so the warm air gets all around the herbs. Stick it into the oven and then immediately turn off the oven. Keep the door closed and the herbs typically are dried within 45 minutes to an hour.
Awesome, thats handy to know ^^
Can you use a dehydratator to do that?
@@CherokeeBear all coming changes the molecular structure of food. Microwaves cook food essentially the same way everything else does.

I rewatch the video just to hear the joke again bruh
The basil one made me feel like they were insulting my intelligence. As someone who grew up with fresh herbs, I know it takes a while for them to dry like that. However, if you've got fresh basil, why on earth would you instantly need some dried basil for a recipe? The fresh is tastier, you only need to dry fresh herbs if you want to preserve them for the off season, so the long drying time isn't a problem as you won't be using them right away.
I also the basil one particularly egregious. They're lying, plain and simple. And why? Because it doesn't matter if it's true or if it works. The only thing that matters if people watch and "engage" with it because you get paid by views and subscribers, not by likes or even quality.
@@Fragenzeichenplatte It's downright shameful :/
Ikr?! I'm insanely interested in cooking and baking, and any cook worth their salt (haha unintentional pun sorry) knows fresh herbs are almost ALWAYS the most ideal!

As someone who did not grow up with fresh herbs I know it takes a while to get anything that dry. And probably a drier of some sort, or an oven, but definitely not a microwave.

The gummy bear thing was such a weird thing to fake.... like just use instant jello lol it’s still a cute idea
it's because they did it wrong. I have seen this trick at least a hundred times since 15 years ago, but it's the first time I've seen anyone just melt the gummies without adding any liquids to it. You are supposed to use the gummies like gelatin, so you need to add water, juice, milk or whatever liquid to it to make the jello...
Yunshan Gao And so yummy didn’t show that.
Kirby Fun yeah by they I meant so yummy did it wrong... sorry if it wasn’t clear. And it was such a dumb mistake
@@yunshangao6971 I love this concept, let's add something to gummy bears to make the jello instead of using jello! XD
@@ewelinaewelinka2306 I don't know who invented this trick, but back when I saw it for the first time I read it on a Chinese magazine for children, and 15 years ago, in China, it wasn't very easy to find gelatine or jello mix in ordinary grocery stores because Chinese people didn't make those kinds of sweets at home. (I think agar was easier to buy, but they usually came in bigger packs.) Gummies (we call them QQ candy) could be found in every small or big store, and they were cheap, came in small packs, easy to work with, and had different flavors. So, yeah, it made perfect sense to my 8-year-old self XD

@@Fanible It's basically fancy clickbait (like a new round of "And you won't believe what happens next!") combined with flooding social media with their different channels. One other point is that sketchy social media accounts often use bots and other deceptive tactics to accomplish the latter. Some are based on artificial traffic by fake accounts / subscribers. Others are fake Facebook accounts that share videos into various groups (who's gonna say no to the sweet grandma profile pic that definitely wasn't snatched off of Google?). After a while, herd mentality takes over (sometimes led by grandma-bot) where people begin sharing these things without testing them at all -cuz the result looks "cute"- as they don't want to be out of the loop of something that appears to be popular.

These videos and COMPILATIONS get so many views for a bunch of reasons and one of the major ones is that they serve the short attention span that has recently developed in people by means of social media. Basically, every 10-15 seconds there is a new setting and a new video, the dopamine cycle is fed and these videos do numbers.

Honestly, the only issue is, RUclips is tweaking the algorythms in their favor.
They promote channels that vomit out short throw-away content with the way they do recommendations, rather than recommend different types of content for different tastes.
Their algorithm certainly killed off most of the animators....
dari is cool Yeah, that’s why it’s called RUclips.
*cough* tseries *cough*
That's why a lot of people are hoping for some sort of alternative to RUclips. A lot of great content creators, not just cooking channels, are getting their content demonetised, comments disabled and strikes for things they either didn't do or simply voiced out their opinion on a certain topic. For instance, TheJapanChannel, an extremely friendly content creator that never uses profound language and only makes little videos about living Japan, had their comments disabled because in one or two of their videos they talked about children in Japan - how they generally grew up in Japanese society, what the kindergarten and school system was like, entirely informational material they wanted to share as a local to anyone interested in Japanese society.

She will get hate mail from the alt-right now, for dissing big channels, and being female. Brie Larson all over again. So Yummy will appear on Fox and fight back, lol.
@YourCommonLoser It's crazy how people bring up politics in ANYTHING
Lol same!

**you reached that milestone now**
Thanks for sharing Ann, this is a real eye opener. I have stopped looking at 5 min crafts and so yummy and anything else that resembles them because of you. I came across your channel when I wanted to know how to temper chocolate and have loved your content whether it is decorating a cake or a so yummy burn ever since. Hope the family is well, keep safe.
This isnt How To Cook That.... This is How to Expose That 🤣
How to roast that
Guys stop your making it worse
Gymnastics Trey how it was a joke lmao
She’s created a new way of roasting people: THE POLITE ROAST(tm)
Canadians do it to
Passive agression?
Alright that's the best one
Darnit it’s been trademarked
Idk mate, Bernadette Banner's done some very polite roasts
Anne:RUclips recommends good quality videos right?
My youtube recommendations: *The day Barney Died*
Is it weird that i actually enjoyed the B-roll of all her hard work at the end? Great way to sarcastically roast them xD
Also I’m definitely trying the Jell-o and pudding trick, seems like a fun party treat! I would love a video making cute party foods, especially ones that are easily separated like the glasses for a socially distanced party!!
5 minute crafts: *is worst channel on RUclips *
So yummy: *hold my strawberry ice cream*
my strawberry ice cream "frosting"
Vero Glz “ice cream”
I think 5 minute crafts' glue toothpaste hack is the worst
All three thousand tubs of it
@@KGGIMP Every thing that 5 minute crafts makes is trash because they just tell lies
I love how she just casually makes a delicious looking cake just to prove the ice cream frosting hack wrong
yea same
Wow. I didn't even think about that. Making 4 different cake flavors and making a checker board cake just to make the same thing So Yummy made. That's a hell of a flex. Like she could have just made the frosting and shown that it didn't work. Now I wonder who eats all these full-sized desserts she makes.
Kindred Toast Definitely Dave he deserves it after all those debunking videos 😂😂
ann reden : wow this is so fake
so yummy : we literally made a volcanic stone cake just for this frosting
ann reden : aight time to replicate it exactly
Why do we even watch fake hack videos we’re just technically giving them money sorry if my spelling bad
So we can make videos telling people to not watch them
I'm so glad I found your channel. You know I almost bought my Mom a Tasty Ultimate Cook Book last Christmas, I went with something else, but It looks like I'm not getting her that this Christmas either. #gladisubbed
"My spoon can't get into the gummy bear part... Because it's like a... gummy bear." Statement of the human condition right there.

Indeed
my heart hurts thinking of all that wasted ice cream
It will save much more from people who see it not working and don't waste theirs 🙏🏻
Unless you mean the original. That causes more wasted ice cream
While you say one of the most popular baking channels on youtube and show your channel it's funny, but the reality is at this point you have 4.39 million subscribers and they have 4.5 million subscribers. the REAL difference between you two is that you publish real videos and work hard for your subs and our dear friend So Yummy here puts out fake content do drive hardworking channels out of business.
thank you so much for the recommendations to other cooking/baking channels as well! its true that good ones are SO hard to find with all the content farms you gotta wade through :c
the "ice cream" frosting is literally pink buttercream..
@Matt S That's exactly it. "Whoah! I didn't know you could do that!"
Well, you can't, but it makes for some content in a "cooking hacks" video.
That's sad
They must have used some very high butterfat (read:expensive) ice cream. So, probably only worth it if you think your Häagen-Dazs is better as icing than as ice cream. Basically, not worth it at all. It's faster and easier to make icing from scratch anyway.
It's was probably buttercream all along, the frozen "ice cream" in the video even looked like buttercream.
Yea, I'm gonna make a designer cake after watching this video. I don't need any stinking recipe or ingredients list.
Best quote of the year:
This doesn’t even look like it would work!
.... I’m gonna try it.
That is a beautiful attitude right there
Most "icecream" barely even have any dairy in it. They get away by calling it frozen dessert. I did not realize that for a long time

You're right, the how-to category has really been affected by RUclips's algorithm 😕 This has been a transitional year for many individual creators, as I'm sure you've seen. I've also joined Patreon and tested different content on my channel but at this point - I'm so done trying to please the algorithm 🙄
Hi Sea Lemon, yes I just wish that the decision-makers at RUclips would listen! Obviously RUclips is making more money or they'd switch back to promoting quality content ... but personally I think they are trashing their own brand in the long-term. Hopefully we can get through to them!
How To Cook That Agreed. We survived Adpocolypse, I hope we can make it through whatever this is 😅💪
Absolutely NOT using Patreon. Absolutely not.
omg you here
Sea lemon you taught me how to make my own books thank you so much!
2:30. I love that piece of Classical music.
So do I. Just in case you did not know, it is Tritch Tratsch Polka by Johann Strauss II.
love your videos and the hard work you put into it! I see these vids every night before I go to bed 🛏️🥱😴
She's Burning them in the nicest way ever.
If they burn easily they must be fake 😉
@@somebodycooliguess1597 Nice one 😂
Not just burning, she's cooking them
@@detaaditya6237 not just cooking..she's roasting them xD

I literally went and found every genuine baker you listed on the screen at 9:15 and subscribed to all of them
Thank you! I was looking to see if someone else posted it or else I was gonna!
She forgot Yolanda from how to cake it
Lol same!
@@dgpgllcofficial6168 omg I came to just write that. Yolanda came to my mind too
Another nice one is Nikos kitchen he cooks many things. Real genuine recipes. :)
That jolly music comes on and you're just absolutely destroying them and that's the most satisfying thing I've ever seen, thank you for that, what fun!!
