Regarding the last video: sugaring is a waxing technique that actually works. But only when done in the right quantities and CAREFULLY. You're never supposed to put hot caramel on your skin. The fact that a content farm is producing that sort of stuff in a 'quick how-to' video is in itself just shameful. Things like sugaring need extensive explanation.
@@lilyawoodburn i'd say the main issue is that they suggest putting it on while hot and letting it harden, when you're actually supposed to use it while cool or slightly warm and it obviously doesn't get hard like wax. this video will lead to pointless burns and people who don't get burnt will still think they did it wrong because their sugaring paste doesn't harden.
My thoughts exactly. I never watch any of those videos and now I've got these vids to confirm I haven't missed anything but dangerous suggestions for things I didn't care about anyway.
I think this is a misinterpretation (by the video makers of course) of what this hack is actually supposed to do. This hack is not supposed to prevent the bread from getting moldy (even though that is what it shows in the video), it is to keep it going stale in a short period of time, which is what homemade loaves and fresh bread you buy from a real bakery will do. It will get hard and stale within 1-2 days. However modern store bought breads usually have dough conditioners and preservatives that keep your bread soft and fresh for a week or so. (Oh no! Additives! Look, convenience does not come free. Take the additives and preservatives in your bread, or go buy bread every other day, your choice.) So this hack was supposed to keep some moisture near your fresh bread to keep it soft for a few days longer as it dries out in your old school bread box. However modern plastic bags are too good at keeping moisture in, so instead of a little bit of moisture, you have way too much, for more than a week, allowing for molds to really set up shop and flourish.
This woman is a queen for consistently calling out all these dumb/dangerous food channels and choosing to ruin her kitchen for us. I see you and I support you as you clean out your microwave for the 5th time
Your version of the turmeric "hack" was so much cooler than what they showed though, why wouldn't they just do _that?_ It's a color changing shirt (in a cute pastel yellow when neutral)!
@@teresawelter7530 About that, you could do the shirt dyed in that same colour where there are chances for it to be sweat (like the armpits) and then make the rest of it with tumeric ! or have then entire shirt be dyed, but on the front have a text saying "sorry, just got out of my workout" or something similar !
As MUCH as I want to agree with you, RUclips already has a huge problem with censoring people they don't like. I wish I could trust them to just remove "harmful" videos, but who gets to decide what's harmful and when do they go too far? Please don't misunderstand, I COMPLETELY agree with your sentiment, but monkeying with freedom of speech (even if that speech is stupid and dangerous) can get us in a real bind. Hopefully by supporting Anne and sharing these videos, we can spread more knowledge within the RUclips cooking and crafting communities.
Nah, they offer things like teaching kids to raid their parents' alcohol cabinet! And to throw molten hot caramel all over themselves and anyone standing nearby. What do you mean those are both terrible ideas?
The turmeric one would be cool for a diy paint gun kinda theme, like shirts dyed with it, and water balloons with baking soda, and if you turn red, you’re out!
I suppose, but that's more, or less limited. Still a lot cheaper then actual paintball ammo. Not to mention it's less painful then getting shot with compressed paint pellets, I know vests don't cover everywhere, and its happened a few times after-all not everyone has good aim, or sometimes devilishly good aim.
Cool Idea but it'd take a lot of set up each time, since they dye doesn't stick you'd have to re-dye and dry the shirts before every round. Something to do if you're really, really bored on a weekend I supoose.
The problem with the wax is the fact the sugar never cooled before they applied it to the skin, so in reality that hack would cause severe burns. Gosh imagine the poor people who tried that one...
This is insane and so many diys are DANGEROUS. Imagine a child attempting to put foil in a toaster... Imagine a child stealing vodka to make skittle vodka...
Both already happen. Unfortunately, both ideas have been around for a while; the foil in the toaster for probably decades because I remember seeing something with that when I was in my early teens more than fifteen years ago, and candy infused vodka has been a gourmet cocktail additive for probably close to twenty years, if not longer. The foil in the toaster is dumb and dangerous, but that's what the Darwin Awards are for. And the candy flavored vodka is intended for adults, was created for adults, and the reality that it's now being peddled to kids is something the older bartenders have actively spoke out against because some of these videos are stealing footage from other channels and cropping out the watermarks. It's wrong, but between taking the issue up with the advertisers, it's also a parent's responsibility to actively parent their children. Dangerous, dumb, and adult things have been on the internet for a long time, but here most of us are in our 30s now without having attempted these dumb things because we either knew they were dumb when we first saw them (like understanding metallic things shouldn't go into a toaster because we were taught how to use in single digits) or asked our parents about something we saw (like the candy vodka) and were either told no or given a kid safe alternative like candy flavored Sprite (which is usually disgusting). I'm not sure what's more upsetting at this point; that parents are so completely handing over the raising of their children to being sat down with a device to watch videos on RUclips and/or Facebook, or that people genuinely believe it's entirely the responsibility of creators to not showcase stupid and/or dangerous things. I absolutely believe everything should come with a standard disclaimer AT THE START of the video and roll long enough to read it (just like old TV shows had spoken disclaimers when a craft or cooking project required adult assistance) and that brands featured should actively file for damage to brand value in court when these scammers feature a product without any attempt to hide the branded product. Should the platform shut down these content farms? Per RUclips's own guidelines, absolutely yes. Facebook will never care until multiple lawsuits go very public because they won't even consider changing until they're forced to do so. But both will keep allowing these content farms to keep utilizing their platforms because kids watch for hours upon hours and advertisers keep buying ads for them. An active boycott of the advertisers may make a difference, but it would have to be a nationwide or international boycott process that actually affects a quarterly earnings statement. No one is organized enough to pull that off at this point, so it's just not likely to do anything. Other than parents blocking these channels to stop views worldwide, nothing will change, and it's pretty clear a large enough section of parents internationally just don't want to put in the effort to parent, so old phones with RUclips and Facebook are doing the work. Parents have to be parents and stop access to this content, but it's not happening.
@@KatieCottingham Exactly. The problem isn't that these things have been around for so long and that people try them, the problem is that there's so many kids who aren't parented. Their parents just give them a device and say go away so nothing they watch is ever regulated. I was watching another video and a 19 year old said that she's learning to adult from RUclips Because the Internet is a better parent. It's so true like my entire generation and all of the kids underneath me are learning to live through the internet because our parents don't care. It's not our fault that we are obsessed with our phones, that we play video games for 8-10 hours a day, that we can't live without screen time, it's our parents that are letting us do that and teaching us that. If the older Generations didn't hand a four-year-old a Kindle and say go away go watch a video this wouldn't be an issue.

That is something that could be fun for an elementary school science class-since its easy and non-toxic it'd be fun for teaching kids. That's kind of the point, though, isn't it? We're trying to keep our kids away from alcohol (with a few exceptions) and giving alcohol to kids without Mommy's permission is illegal (among countries in which this video will be seen, with few exceptions), so naturally the video intends to have kids running up to Mommy saying "can we have some skittles and vodka, Mommy?" to which the answer will likely be no, for many reasons.
No one under the age of 21 should have alcohol, because their brain is still developing, so the damage will be worse. The only time wines, vodka etc should be used near kids is in cooking, where the alcohol evaporates.
I love how Dave helps you in your channel. He knows he can trust you not to give him harmful food. But at the same time, I love how you two interact. Lovely family channel.
Nun Sarah it’s simple you see, get the kids to make it and then you do the responsible thing as a parent and drink it. I’m kidding of course. The targeted kids content on RUclips is a huge problem. To the last one: As someone who did sugar wax before: It's supposed to cool off. It'll be a little bit like soft caramel and is supposed to be applied by hand. If they do it like they did, it would be way too hot and cause serious burns!
@@anushrees4981 I've used it before and it works great if you do it right, but it is super easy to mess up! Like Yasmin mentioned, you have to let it cool down a good bit first, but if you overcooked it, then it will just turn to a solid sugar block rather than the texture you need. Not enough and it won't solidify at all. And finding a good ingredient ratio can be tricky too.
if u apply hot sugar mixture immediately to ur skin first it will not feel good and second it will not come off/peel off ur skin .. but if u let it cool and then apply it it works,,.. u dont even need to make it at home its available in markets and maybe some beauty shops .
@@anushrees4981 The wax can last for a while if done properly and there are different types. It's useful for some people because it rinses off with warm water and doesn't stick as badly to their skin (oils maybe?)
I have used sugar wax before and thankfully you solidify it first then microwave it in a glass container so it isn't too hot, but theirs has way too much lemon juice!!! The most lemon juice I've seen in a recipe is one tablespoon in a 500ml batch so that the acid is weak enough that it doesn't burn your skin.
If you insist on waxing use your instant pot as a wax warmer. Set the tin of wax on the trivet and fill the pot with water just below the rolled rim of the wax and set it on low slow cook with no lid. Wait until the wax is melted then use it. It works with both hard and soft wax. Forget the lemon juice and hot sugar unless it is in a cup of tea.
Just in case my comment is lost somewhere, here’s what I wrote: As a practitioner of sugaring, I’d like to say there is a hair removal technique using sugar paste which literally made out of sugar, water and lemon. However, The sugar paste and technique shown in the video by blossom does not look right and it’s misleading. One of the benefits of sugaring compared to waxing is that it doesn’t burn our skin because we practitioner keep our sugar paste at a max temperature of 45 degree C (still rather close to body temperature). The sugar shown in blossom’s video looks way to runny which indicates that the sugar could be at a pretty high temperature, resulting in burns. I would never recommend anyone to try sugaring as shown in blossom’s video. You can either go find a sugaring practitioner or if really want to do it at home, buy sugar paste meant for hair removal online. Cheers!

I've tried the vodka skittles thing. it tastes like vodka but has a texture like someone shoved a bunch of skittles and they disintegrated in the vodka. you're better off just food dyeing the vodka. or ya know. just drinking the vodka and not bothering about the color like most people who drink vodka.
leebeez79 Then again, that would be a slightly gross but very neat science experiment. A kid soaks a shirt in Turmeric and wears it for a day, and the sweat patches that develop show where the majority of the torso’s sweat is concentrated. Then they take a picture of both sides of the shirt before washing it for the next day, and then wearing it the next day to repeat the experiment. Obviously, do not use underwear for the experiment as that’s WAY too gross and disturbing. The goal is to visually show where the body sweats over the course of a day, and relating those sweat patterns to the daily activities and noting the differences. Last but not least, when the child is ready to present their findings, they can bring their freshly laundered turmeric shirt along with a common base and a common acid, so they can demonstrate the color-changing properties of the shirt, why acids and bases change the color of the shirt, and why the active ingredient of turmeric causes the reaction that causes the color change. Then they could have the pictures of each day’s use of the shirt as well as a summary of the activities they did that day, and they can talk about how the body sweats differently depending on the activities they did on those days (or maybe how the body’s sweat remains consistent regardless of activity type or level, depending on their findings). That, I think, would be an excellent science project!
@@boomkruncher325zzshred5 wow, you put way more though into that than the channels put into their entire videos! And it does sound like a neat fun experiment for kids - maybe I will do it with my little cousins

On the end of video waxing: Tried basically this exact thing with my friend when we were in Highschool, my friend went first and got a second degree burn and has a nasty scar still today. This kind of "hack" is pretty much marketed to young girls (can't afford professionals, still feeling the pressure of societal beauty "norms") and is absurdly irresponsible of the companies that produce that content.
Sorry to hear your friend got badly burned, it's shameful that these videos mislead viewers and cause such harm. Making sugar wax isn't as simple as "boil the sugar and apply", I've done it before only after lots of research, and it's scary they can lie like that.
I've done a similar "hack" to this, and it does work, but you have to be extremely careful not to burn yourself, starting by waiting for it to somewhat cool off, then testing on a small patch of less sensitive skin. Just saying "make some caramel and put it directly on your skin" is hugely irresponsible.
@@jadedkratos5528 only a brainless fool would be so rude responding to a personal example comment on a video about how misleading those hack videos can be. Clearly you missed the point.

But you're right, let's have lots of Darwin Awards distributed to the idiots and one day we might, just might, have a world populated only by intelligent people. Mind you, I think my intelligence is average at best. But at least I have the common sense of trying to educate myself whenever I can, which people who believe in those hacks don't seem to do.
@Gobblarr I have to say, I think it's incredibly ironic that my comment was all about how she was honest and factual without being insulting...and then you proceeded to be insulting. Look, I get that these videos 'hack' are stupid and ideally it would be common sense not to engage in them, but i'm just not on board with the whole 'ppl stupid enough to believe this deserve to be culled off because evolution', even if it's as a joke. I get that the state of critical thinking in our current society is pretty low, but self-mastubatory intellectual condescension is unproductive, obnoxious, and borderline ableist. The existence of So Yummy and the societal factors that allow it to be so succesful is aggravating, but shitting on random ppl in a RUclips thread does zilch to fix it.
@@alexandresobreiramartins9461 If you and @Gobblarr approach the ppl who believe these videos with anywhere near the amount of condescension you both wrote your comments with, then it isn't surprising to me that they insisted on not believing you. So this hack was supposed to keep some moisture near your fresh bread to keep it soft for a few days longer as it dries out in your old school bread box. However modern plastic bags are too good at keeping moisture in, so instead of a little bit of moisture, you have way too much, for more than a week, allowing for molds to really set up shop and flourish.

Seriously these channels need to be removed. They offer nothing to anyone.

What do you mean those are both terrible ideas?
smartroadbiker actually they do...PROBLEMS!
@@jessicazimmer8910 These channels waste resources. They're a danger to humanity.

Something to do if you're really, really bored on a weekend I supoose.
The problem with the wax is the fact the sugar never cooled before they applied it to the skin, so in reality that hack would cause severe burns. Gosh imagine the poor people who tried that one...
FR
EVEN WAXING IS SAFER THAN THIS
This is insane and so many diys are DANGEROUS.
Or the one that says to use bleach to dye strawberries white

To the last one: As someone who did sugar wax before: It's supposed to cool off. It'll be a little bit like soft caramel and is supposed to be applied by hand. If they do it like they did, it would be way too hot and cause serious burns!
Does it work
@@anushrees4981 I've used it before and it works great if you do it right, but it is super easy to mess up! Like Yasmin mentioned, you have to let it cool down a good bit first, but if you overcooked it, then it will just turn to a solid sugar block rather than the texture you need. Not enough and it won't solidify at all. And finding a good ingredient ratio can be tricky too.
if u apply hot sugar mixture immediately to ur skin first it will not feel good and second it will not come off/peel off ur skin .. but if u let it cool and then apply it it works,,.. u dont even need to make it at home its available in markets and maybe some beauty shops

I just love putting molten hot sugar syrup on my sensitive body parts 😂
Don't forget! It also has lemon juice for that nice painful feeling of acid as you burn your skin off!
Yes! Absolutely love that feeling 💗
Just in case my comment is lost somewhere, here’s what I wrote:
As a practitioner of sugaring, I’d like to say there is a hair removal technique using sugar paste which literally made out of sugar, water and lemon.

I like how they lied about the tumeric one when the end result is a COLOR CHANGING SHIRT! They could have made that an actual hack that works
In the late 80’s colour change shirts were all the rage. I always wanted one... just not one that would show literally all my sweat patches
leebeez79 Then again, that would be a slightly gross but very neat science experiment.

@@alexandresobreiramartins9461 If you and @Gobblarr approach the ppl who believe these videos with anywhere near the amount of condescension you both wrote your comments with, then it isn't surprising to me that they insisted on not believing you. They should listen to the facts above anything else, but humans aren't primarily logical beings and they *will* get defensive if you approach them in a way that clearly shows you think they're stupid. Condescension and lack of understanding is obnoxious.
Gobblarr stop with the virtue signaling already! If you want to convince us you are a smart person or a good parent or that your children are clever then I might suggest you make your own debunk videos or something else positive, but this insulting of others to make yourself look good is the kind of bullshit that snowflake SJWs engage in. No one ever succeeds in building themself up solely by tearing others down.
Gobblarr I feel like the people that fall for these the most are teens, and some of them seem possible to someone without any real good cooking experience.
“...And making sweet, colorful, alcoholic drinks for kids... that they can have fun consuming afterwards.”
This bit had me crying laughing for 10 minutes straight, I don’t know why...
I think it was the way she was staring at the camera.
Imagine telling children to put tinfoil in a toaster. WTF is wrong with these channels
i mean i did that on my own when i was a child
@@aebhel damn really?
This is from a channel that promotes vodka for kids. Yeah they don't care.
Yup. Reminds me of my dad, or uncle can't quite remember which one of them did it, once putting a fork into a toaster as a kid to get a piece of bread out. If I'm not mistaken he had to be pulled from the toaster. Seems to have turned out fine but putting metal in a toaster is as big of a no no as putting it in the microwave, if not bigger. Can't believe there are channels putting crap like this online.
And remember all of the microwave and burning stuff hacks, one I remember too well is when she used the took a toothbrush, put on a hot ass glue from a glue gun and brushed her teeth with it
17:58 as someone who makes large quantities of lemon curd on the regular, them stabbing a single hole into a lemon and then just having essentially a bottle of lemon juice the next frame, made me irrationally angry 😂😂
Lol that magic lemon just spill out a water like a faucet

RUclips: demonetises channels that play 0.01 seconds of copyrighted music
Also RUclips: promotes channels that encourage underage drinking
Like ikr wtf
Hey kids, look at the fun alcoholic candy drinks.
That’s just messed up
True
I know I just watched a video that got demonetized because the girl sang 10 seconds of a song she parodied with her own words and imagination. Like it was a Christmas song that she sang that had nothing to do with Christmas
Imagine being Dave, and being married to a woman who is, just, an immensely talented baker, fully capable of making amazing food, and, yet, sometimes, chooses to subject you to this. That is what we call relationship goals, and we stan.
Wait. You’re telling me I can’t simulate the immense heat and pressure from deep in the earth’s crust with peanut butter?
Lyrich T No sorry they’re wrong in the video it’s actually strawberry jelly. Only strawberry or it won’t work.
Lyrich T what ;~; why ?!!? ;~;
🤯
Not to worry, she's just kidding.
Right...?
That's what the diamond industry want you to think
The most bizarre part is there are ACTUAL ways to do all these things, and yet they make fake videos about it. I think people would be more interested in seeing the REAL way to do it!
Exactly, turmeric and a LOT of laurel leaves boiled for hours w salt make a great deep yellow dye that lasts( use vinegar rinse) . Why mess around w pretending it will make a red that stays red?
I think they could get more positive comments on their videos if they gave actual hacks and not content farmed ones
@EvilBill The worst thing is that there are people repeating that stuff and getting seriously hurt.
Leaving bread on the counter or in a bread box = fast result to moldy bread.
Put that bread in the fridge! Too much bread? Freeze and defrost. Stiff/stale bread? Add a little warm water mixed with a tiny bit of honey 😊
To much effort. So much easier to photoshop you know
I'd just like to offer my sympathy to Dave and let him know that there is a way out of abusive food relationships.

it is possible to eat the selfmade shuggar „wax“ that isn‘t actual wax.
lemon causes acidic burns
I looked at that “custard” and I was like oh good sounds like a fun way to make marshmallow scrambled eggs and destroy your microwave while you’re at it
I made a savory variant of it and to do that don't microwave you have to steam it

If mold is caused by moisture how is adding celery, that is mostly water, supposed to stop molding?
because it's fresh duhh
Exactly.
Tell me about it. Adding cotton makes more sense, but who wants lint on their bread?
You're trying to keep it fresh maybe, but maybe you're supposed to change the celery periodically.
Add a silica packet instead. 😆

As someone who struggled through Chemistry for 4 years, seeing some of the stuff in this video hurts me. It hurts a lot.

“Tannins turn the water pink” my ass
Honestly though the clothes acting as an indicator and changing color is 100 times cooler than their obvious fake dye jobs.
IKR!!!
I thought so too, the thought of having a color changing shirt was pretty cool.
Right? I never imagined using indicators for things other than chemical reactions
I thot the dye hack was super cool
Its not a permanent dye comeon its natural dye not chemical. She washed it properly with detergent and said it doesnt last
I mean is it a huge brain twister that food stains/colours dont last on clothes and can be washed
Until you start to sweat but still cool
“Excuse me waiter, I didn’t order the baby spew” needs to be on a shirt

You know, for kids!
To be fair, in history kids drank beer because water wasn't considered safe.
Also if one's kid has access to full liquor bottles it's the parents fault for being fuckups and not securing their booze. People need to stop expecting everyone else to raise/shelter their spawn.
