The real reason vampires don’t have a reflection is that mirrors were made out of silver. Silver is a “pure” metal. So, a vampire would be able to take a photo. Modern mirrors are backed by aluminum, which would allow vampires to have a reflection.

The joke is that they're wolves and they have a lot of babies. If they're not werewolves in the traditional sense as in humans that turn into werewolves and are just...wolves (as the movies are suggesting) then Wanda would be pregnant every 6 months or so.
No it's more like a play on wolves having a big pack.(it's like nobody ever watches a nature documentary that's a sign that you have a good pack if you can have that many wolves.)

One of the best lines ever
A few more sins I would have added:
1. Johnny is a terrible husband and father--he respects his father-in-law more than his wife, blatantly lying to Mavis so that Drac can put Dennis, JOHNNY'S SON, in danger, and never seeming the least bit concerned about Dennis's wellbeing
2. Winifred (I think that's the baby werewolf's name) appears to be the same age as she was in the last movie, despite this movie taking place five years later
3. Drac is flat out abusive at points. He doesn't respect boundaries, he insults and lies to his daughter--who he was very affectionate towards in the first movie--and his love for his grandson is clearly conditional
4. Mavis's whole character arc in the first movie was about her wanting to leave the hotel and explore the world, and she never did. Drac's arc was about him learning to let go of Mavis, and he instantly reverted back to overprotective/abusive parent in this movie. Johnny was meant to be Mavis's portal to the outside world, but he seems to value his friendship with Drac over his relationship with his wife, even putting his child in danger to prevent Mavis from moving away from Transylvania and doing the one thing she's wanted to do since the start of the franchise. What I'm saying is, all of the character development from the first movie got nuked from orbit.
Rowan Procter Winifred probably ages slowly. We are led to believe in the first film that mavis being 118 is the equivalent of being the human age 18.
True, but, to me, that makes a lot more sense for Vampires than werewolves. I've never seen anything indicating werewolves live indefinitely (except… maybe this movie? How old *is* Dracs friend? He seems to be aging) So it makes more sense for them to follow a more human aging convention. With vampires, (I'm beginning to realize how weird it is to think of vampires having kids) it makes sense if they are immortal to age more slowly in some regards. Of course, Mavis and Dennis appear to have grown at similar rates for the first few years too. I am beginning to realize how little we know and how inconsistent things seem here. Anyways, even Dennis is past pacifiers and such, while Winnie is still using them 5 years later.
mentaya11 in some lore werewolves are just as immortal as vampires.
Winnie was practically 9 months old looking in the first film so she'd be 4 or 5 in the second film and some parents who don't know the dangers of a pacifier and teeth won't take it from their kid. It was probably just used to make her seem more innocent and cute.
she'd be at minimum 5 maybe as old as 8. I am curious where you have seen an immortal werewolf. Not saying it hasn't or couldn't be done, but I don't think I have seen it. It doesn't make sense to me either. Given a werewolf is still ultimately human, to make them immortal seems strange to me.
Dracula's motives may appear selfish and honestly he does love his grandson unconditionally which is why he does not want him to go away. He wants his grandson to have fangs so he will stay in Transylvania because he knows Dennis is happy there and would be sad if he had to leave. Also Johnny does not really agree with his wife on this and does not think the move would be best for his son. This is why Johnny wants to help Dracula. Mavis desire to leave for the outside world has made her naive while Johnny knows that Dennis would be unhappy. Mavis does not realize that what she wants is not exactly what her family wants. Really both Johnny and Dracula are looking out for their family and trying to do the thing that would be best for Dennis over what is best for Mavis. Mavis is too naive to really see the bigger picture and that staying in Transylvania would be best for her son.

1. 2:28 it looks like Mavis' height chart is branded into the wood.
2. 4:03 this actually goes back to an old myth about vampires. To protect your baby while they're in their crib, cover the crib with a net, and then sprinkle birdseed around the crib. It was believed vampires were *SUPER* OCD and that they'd first what to count every single seed, and then try to untie the net. But before they could finish these tasks, the sun would come up and kill them.
The Dracula 2000 sequel did a funny bit with that. Pretty much the best part of that movie.

That's still considered a monster, a human with deformities. You should also see monster high, in which one of the monsters is Cleo Patra, who is human, just from ancient egypt and I don't think she has ever been considered a monster. I don't know much about her, I dunno if she was supposed to be evil or cruel but I know she isn't a monster, she is human, without deformities.
It is probably a reference to the Anne Rice book The Mummy.
If you think about it, the Invisible Man and Quasimodo aren't monsters either, but they both appear in the movies.
Hell, in the 3rd movie, it shows the Invisible Man with the group in 1898, implying he is much older than a human should be.

On of my initial problems with this movie is how Johnny and Mavis didn't change their looks....like at ALL. It makes it hard to see them as parents when they look exactly the same as they did when they were dumb "teens". Like I know Mavis is actually over 100 and that parents don't look a specific way but couldn't you change their looks a BIT to make them seem like they've matured?

I've never seen these movies but I'm assuming Mavis and Jonny were really in love, so why shouldn't they be together? They made the choice to enjoy the time they'll have. Even when humans date other humans, it's very rare for them to die simultaneously.

I hated the ending of this movie. The whole thing was about Dracula learning to accept having a human grandson and letting mavis finally leave to have a family.
But no in the end Dennis is a vampire and mavis decides not to leave and a whole movie of character development gets thrown out the window

It was believed that vampires had an obsession with counting things. So to keep peoples houses safe, the people would leave bags of bird seed, or grain outside their doors.

I think the idea is that his father is Vlad Dracula, while he is … Dracula and his daughter is Mavis Dracula. They seem to treat it like a family name, saying things like "She's a Dracula, she'll be fine." I think we just don't know Drac's first name. (Or at least I don't remember it being mentioned)
Vladislav Dracula 2 (aka Vlad the Dragon) was the father of Vladislav Dracula 3 (aka Vlad the Impaler) the basis of vampire Dracula
Just a little correction and more context:
Vlad II (father of Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula) was known as Vlad Dracul (without a) which meant "Vlad the Dragon". Now, his son, also named Vlad (so Vlad III), was called Vlad Drăculea, meaning "son of Dracul". Then, Vlad III became a ruthless prince (voivode) getting the nickname of "the Impaler".
Now, Vlad the Impaler, being this memorable figure it was, inspired the Bram Stoker for his novel, who, for some reason, thought it would be cooler to change Vlad's title to a count instead of a prince/voivode and to use his original nickname Drăculea, which became Dracula when anglicized (he perhaps just wanted to separate a bit his Dracula character from the historical person).
Vlad III (who we usually think of as Dracula; also called Vlad the impaler, Vlad Tepes, and Vlad Dracula) had the same first name as his father. His father was Vlad Dracul, or Vlad II. However, Vlad Dracul was never considered a vampire, so that part's incorrect.

Well..to be fair..not all werewolves are the same. From movies, TV shows, literature, and even original lore..werewolf forms and transformations vary greatly from the stereotypical transforming during the full moon. For example..more original lore says that werewolves can transform at will..while there are even movies like Ginger Snaps that write the werewolf transformation as permanent. *ding*
If you believe in different KINDS of werewolves, that can also make a great deal of difference. Some werewolves are cursed, others it's hereditary, for some, they'll do anything to gain werewolf powers. It really depends.
Mr. Cool but this movie is parroting the classic movie monsters and turning them into lame old dads. which means realistically mr. Werewolf should have a human form but doesn't because of comedy and animation cheapness similar to Scooby-Doo and The Ghoul School.

Actually, something you SHOULD'VE sinned is how Johnny got hypnotised. In the last movie, he didn't because of contact lenses. If he was hypnotised THIS time, he would need glasses to see, they became lazy (lazier) or he's blind as a f***ing BAT right now, and he probably wouldn't have been able to identify the bird seeds.

About the thing about the vamp fam appearing in pictures:
Actually vampires dont have a reflection in mirrors, not BECAUSE they are mirrors, but because of the silver in the mirrors. And since film does not use silver anymore, it makes sense why we'd see them in pics like on heir profiles pics and shit. And maybe the "cutesy tucking you hair behind your ear" was either something easter egg-ish of the creators or its just something that Mavis really does.
Only problem with that is that they had Mavis and Dracula not appear in a picture right at the beginning of the movie. What you say makes sense, but it is still inconsistent with the movie.

it's understandable budget wise- when they move they REALLY hecking move and getting that kind of stylistic look is probably pretty expensive. not to mention that the juxtaposition of ridgiditiy and fluidness really works well here.
That's the style of Genndy Tartakovsky - the creator of Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack and the whole Hotel Transylvania trilogy. It is still a smart way to reduce the budget.

Love this movie and channel, but there's a glaring issue. Vampires would have no issue showing up on digital cameras. The origin of the idea that they don't show up in anything but paintings and other similar pictures comes from vampires not having a reflection in mirrors (and possibly silverware via the whole "look behind you with a spoon" thing) because it was extremely common for mirrors to be lined with silver, a metal considered holy, during the times of early vampire literature and the times those stories were set in. You could probably thank Stoker for this whole debacle, but it isn't his fault for silver not being as commonplace in the future. So, while you're sinning the inconsistencies of the "only show up in paintings/no reflections" rule, you should be sinning the misconception that came from the original rule of vampires being rejected by holy objects. +1 sin for the movie getting the family photo scene wrong which led up to the profile pic sin. +1 sin to the video for not knowing vampires. Side note: This is a Sandler movie, yes, but this is probably some of his best work that was intended for all ages.

Well, if we're just going with vampire reflection not being visible in mirrors, if they were using an SLR camera for the family photo, they wouldn't have been visible as there is a mirror in the camera for it to get to the sensor/film, but cameras in phones (for the video call/contact picture) don't have mirrors (afaik) so they would still be able to see each other.
