Yea, why was anyone surprised Jack had powers when in the first movie they should have learned that he had powers near the end of the movie by the babysitter's voicemails and Jack Jack turning into a metal demon baby in front of them
@@Christian-be6eg To be fair, that fight with Syndrome was really high up so they couldn’t see what was going on except that Syndrome was flying erratically. The voicemails though…I think Elastigirl didn’t think to wonder if Jack Jack had powers because she knows Kari is kind of a nut which is probably why she seemed against the thought of her babysitting Jack Jack again because of her reaction to Violet telling her who she hired to babysit.

I decided to make an edit and say this is an exaggeration this applies to not all movies and this was just me assuming stuff, do not attack me, but pls prove me wrong
My favorite are still the bonus rounds.
I would add at least 10 sins to part where they find out jack-jack has powers. I mean they knew in the ending of first movie right? after saving him from Syndrome

I think the coolest thing about this movie is that when I saw it in theaters, most of the other people were young adults, who normally don't care for animated movies at that age, yet the first movie was such an important part of their childhood that they came back 14 years later to see the sequel.
Same reason I thought it'd be good, and even tho there's a few alright moments, the plot is stupid.

The fight between violet and void made me absolutely giddy. So many clever visual gags, yet still a believable fight with character-motivated action. So much going on and yet easy to follow and understand. Absolute masterwork

ALSO they had super suits for the kids and had them in random day to day life. Looking to the cops like they actively encourage the kids to break the law and put the kids in dangerous circumstances.
there is no way this looks good for the incredibles.
Edit: In fact if they hadn't gotten involved in that one scene then the entire rest of the movie wouldn't have happened. Now I don't hold them responsible for Evelyn's actions but imagine you are the cops, these costumed bastards show up trying to help and make things worse THEN some other super powered bastards show up causing problems just because they don't like the heroes. Well you will see why they made supers illegal.
It is literally better for them if the supers just don't do anything and don't show up.
He didn't take a sin off for Violet spurting water out of her nostrils - the highlight of the movie, I might add!

8:39 Okay, so the thing about the setting of the Incredibles movies is that Brad Bird INTENTIONALLY wanted to make it indeterminable by mixing nostalgia with futuristic elements. Hence, the ambiguity of the time in which it was set.
Winston's gotta be my favourite major character. He's a great guy who does great stuff for supers, and unlike what any other movie would do, he dosnt turn out to be a baddie, he's legit.
Not only that, but when he does get betrayed he doesn’t sit there dumbfounded like other tropes would have you believe, he actually does something about it by freeing the other ambassadors and supers to get them to safety

they all do. A shit ton
I had 2 big issues with this movie.
1: Like you said, a lot of the same issues that were resolved in the first movie were redone. The kids weren’t allowed to use their powers, the family was divided, a rich person they barely know ends up being the villain
2: Bob was heavily underpowered. A lot of things that he seemed to do in the first movie were impossible for him in this one, and he struggled a lot more than he should have in a lot of fights
The moment Evelyn appeared on screen I KNEW she was the villain. No dialogue, two seconds of screen time, I immediately knew. I felt cheated out of a good twist.
Some guy working on the villain: Ok we got the design and is pretty interesting.
Pixar or Dinsey exc: Ok GREAT! We’re gonna replace that.
That same guy working the villain: What?
That's probably on you for putting the pieces together too quickly, saying you were cheated is a bit harsh

Her goal was to make the public hate superheroes, in a country where it's illegal to be a superhero, because the public hates super heroes. In order to do so, she gets a super hero, puts into action a plan to make the public like superheroes again, and then sabotages that plan so it will fail. I guess just to remind people why they hate super heroes.

@LeadFaun of course the production crew cared about this movie, the film was supposed to come out next year but Pixar decided to release this one a year early so they can release Toy Story 4 next year. Considering how rushed production was for this, I still think it's a pretty solid sequel.

Wowee the movie "over the hedge" was my early childhood! Watched that movie, finding Nemo, and coraline on repeat for about a month (no TV) when I was a kid. Missed the hedge times...
Barry the Tone I was at the stage of middle childhood when Over The Hedge came out (being 10 years old exactly).

Another sin is the fact that Elasta Girl apparently couldn't stretch because the temperature - but rubber expand when it get colder, and contracts when it gets hotter. If anything, being in the cold would've been advantageous to her. Even if we were to say that her being a person and not full on rubber factors into the equation, I don't understand why that wouldn't factor into every other instances where she uses her power instead of just the one time it's convenient for the villain. It would've just been better if they just said the cuffs had some sort of power suppressing ability.
Did you even go to school? Rubber contracts in cold and expands in heat. Put a rubber band in the oven and tell me rubber contracts when heated. Put a rubber band in the freezer and tell me rubber expands when chilled. DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND THE LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS?!?!
But that is assuming her body is made of rubber, she might just have hyper mobility on a SUPER level and so it would actually depend on her blood flow and strength so if she was in the cold and not fed or hydrated it is believable that she wouldn’t be able to stretch as far

The first movie starts in the glory days of the supers, which took place in 1947 according to newspapers. Theb after the supers get sued, it cuts to 15 years later

i think he wanted more specifics from the fact that they have opposite signs on their outfits, one being positive and other being negative. Like they could be like Mas and Menos from DC where they are super fast albeit their costumes being electricity themed. Do their powers work together/ require one another? why have opposite signs if they have the same power? like that stuff. Don't judge a book by its cover basically...
@@danieltsiu7383 There are multiple examples of the positive/negative pairing in character design. There are actual comicbook heroes with that, and there are Pokemon that share the same characteristics. In every case, either the positive/negative is used because some of their powers rely on the pairing, or they use it to symbolize their bond.
His complaint was that there was NO indication as to what their powers could be. What did he need, a neon sign saying "Our powers let us do stuff with electricity"?
Their costumes involve symbols only associated with two things in popular culture: Math, and Electricity. Their hats have lightening bolts on it. Their costume colors are ELECTRIC colors (one dude literally has electric green hair).
"Don't judge a book by its cover" wasn't the sin he tacked on though. What he said was that there was NO hint as to what their powers could be. The other two were fine, as Crochet Man could have any power really, but those two are literally a pair wearing electric versions of colors, with lightening bolts on their helmets, and signs that indicated electrical charge.
He didn't say "I don't know their specific power". He said that they showed the twins "without giving us ANY clue what their powers may be", which as I've already stated is completely false.
Well, apparently their names are Shock and Awe, sooo...
@@ThePurbleKing What makes that not so simple is the fact that as the other guy said, the suits could mean anything. The Flash is covered in lightning bolts, his powers have nothing to do with electricity.
Plus there's already an electric dude as a villain, so it'd be interesting to see what makes these two different from him. Not a big deal, but it would've been cool to see powers from the background Supers.

That's what your comment translates to. Again, he wasn't saying that it wasn't specific enough. He literally said the movie gave us no clue at all, but there are multiple.

What you're claiming he meant is the exact opposite of what he said. There can't be "multiple examples" if there are no examples. Again, he said "No clue" not "multiple clues" or "too many clues".

I see people saying they loved how Incredibles 1 showed the loyalty of Bob, checking Helen's safety before his own, being friends with Frozone and hanging out together.
Not cheating, though all the signs showed he was, etc. etc. Helen was a tad-too-jealous wife with a slight over-concern for the baby and she was, to some people, someone that needed to have her youthful energy re-awakened by the superheroe-actions of her husband.
And then people got upset about Incredibles 2 and said it was too feministic and it displayed the wife having the upper hand, being the cool and tough one and fighting to save the world.
I don't get it.
Strangely on a recent rewatch of the first one[im 37] all I could see for half the film at least was nagging wife bs

13:15 My explanation for the glasses is that they can work either way, with the limiting factor being Evelyn's attention bandwidth. With the pizza guy, she was only controlling the one slave, so she could focus on him entirely, making manual control feasible. But in the later stages of the movie, when she had a whole bunch of screenslaves to juggle, she had to rely on semi-autopilot mode so she could split her attention so many different ways at once.
That makes a lot more sense

What about the fact that there’s a time break in the movie? Violet’s date was on a Friday, the same Friday that Bob stayed up to learn how to math. Then, the very next morning/day, the kids are at school.

What bothered me the most was that they never dealt with the Underminer after he got away. Like... after a decade of waiting for this movie we waited for him only to get away never to be seen again??? Unless i missed that they did catch him? If not, do we have to wait another decade for the next movie to find out if we see the Underminer again?
that's the point. in the current system villains can get away "the banks were insured.....all of this would have been avoid if you just let him go" we can assume the heros went away but not the villains

I have aquired a super power
The problem with the whole "collateral from superheroes is bad so they're outlawed now" plot in general is that it requires that villains also cease using superpowers or technology to commit crimes. On a logical level, it doesn't make sense unless there is a proven way to deescalate the crime side of things as well to match the decreased activity from heroes. Otherwise you just have a power vacuum on the side of the everyday citizen and villains are basically able to do whatever they want unimpeded.
I'm not saying that realistically the average person wouldn't try to sue heroes, (hell, especially in the US our legal system allows for people to do that sort of thing or for criminals even to sue their victims if said criminal got hurt while committing their crime), or that the government wouldn't want to try and control or end vigilante heroism, but in a world where super powers are a natural occurrence, you have to maintain some method of stopping the people who will use them for criminal activity.
How about add 20+ sins for the fact that no one learned anything from the first movie and Helen is playing double standards in this film?

I was honestly hoping that would be the plot of this one. Do a time skip where they fight Jack Jack as a teenager or young adult.
Any human outrage over superheroes attempting to stop villains resulting in public mass damages should just have the superheroes say, "Fine. We won't do anything. See how you save your own asses from cars falling from broken bridges, and monorails derailing onto streets. I'm sure the high mortality rate will be worth it."

@@aidanzuzenak2416 There actually aren't, apparently, in the Incredibles universe. Every supervillian we've seen on-screen is a normal human with a ridiculous collection of weapons and gadgets, especially Syndrome of course. It's as if the super gene comes with an instinct for heroism.
Maybe there's supplemental material of dubious canon to the contrary.

I'm still pissed that this movie opened with the Underminer fight, seeing as there was a video game that covered that whole event. We really were robbed of this movie being set in the future.
I think they did it because that game was only on the PS2, which is no longer being made and is from 4 or 3 console generations ago, so most people wouldn't have played or remember its plot.

It's not only the mask bit it's also coupled with the fact they can be SEEN putting on the mask so even if the mask that covers just a tiny bit of the face worked it doesn't make people looking at them forget. Like Violets BF he saw them anyone else looking will notice as well. Being honest the glasses aren't that much of difference either speaking as fellow wearer as well. No one especially fukking Lois Lane who chases Superman for a living should be fooled 24/7 while working with him and sexing him because of glasses.
