I hope she is working with an ED treatment team (RD and therapist who specialize in ED.

@@Marz859 tbf jazz said she wasn't eating and her sister "confiscated" the bowl and ignored her, saying repeatedly that "we're not eating now". if the sister had have just listened in the first place and said something like "okay, put it out of the way/put it in the fridge/put a lid on it", it would have been better. you can't help someone without communicating with them at all. jazz wasn't an arsehole at all in this situation.
@@Marz859 I don't really see how Jazz was being an ahole. She only asked where the butter was, and Ari just flew off the handle and started yelling at her about eating. It escalated pretty quickly. Then somehow, it became Jazzs fault and she was required to apologize. I wouldn't have.

@@Channel66678 trans women are women, so he's straight, that isn't being bisexual, and although it's unusual for someone so young at 5 to have been diagnosed it's not out there for a kid to know themselves better than their parents, jazz seems to be happy as a girl and has been living as her preferred gender, the real shame of their parenting was not controling her eating habits enough and teaching her nutrition to the point that she needs all this external help to lose weight

Jazz’s eating disorder is one that no one in the family understands. This isn’t solely a weight loss journey, this isn’t solely about food. If anything, it’s barely about food. It’s about emotional compulsion and comfort. I recovered from anorexia myself, and went through a large phase of binge eating a while after being recovered. My experience with my eating disorder was never really about hating food or being really obsessed with food, it was about a toxic connection to food in my brain. I’ve been in Jazz’s spot and I feel for her.

If I were Jazz, I’d be crying after that. I know the family wants to help, but they are being so controlling, and downright mean sometimes. Why did Jazz need to apologize? She does, asks Ari for a hug and Ari said “like that will change anything.” I wish I could give Jazz a hug - I feel so bad for her. I’ve always fought my weight, and it’s embarrassing and very personal - I can’t imagine everyone around me policing me all the time! She’s obviously a strong woman, though, and she’s handling it all very well.

My ex boyfriend (at the age of 68 (me) and 70 (him) measured my food with his eyes as I’d take my plate…then said “you gonna EAT all that?!” It made me get up after he’d fall asleep and go try to find something sweet. I’d call him the “food police” and he just didn’t get it even after I told him many times how it made me feel. We weren’t even living together, and there’s no way I ever would’ve married him, in fact it was huge reason among many that I broke up with him after two yrs of him not stopping his annoying habits of irritating me. I’d rather be lonely than irritated! By the way, after we broke up I lost 55 pounds all by myself. 45 more to go, and no one here to stress me out over something as simple as the size of the items on my plate!

Lol I have been their , boy have iv ever and it's not fun..... A week after delivering my baby my family started hounding me because it was the first time that I was ever overweight. Well one day Durning a family dinner I stood up and screamed " what am I a monster ,thats how y'all make me feel". No one said a thing so I picked up my baby and went home. Nothing more was said about my weight ever again and I loss the weight on my terms, when I was ready ....

Poor Jazz. This isn’t the first snippet that I’ve seen where her family is being completely overbearing and just flat out mean about what she eats. It was so upsetting to see her whole family gang up on her and then make HER apologize after Ari treated her the way that she did. I understood what Jazz was doing, I would have done the same thing as well if I wanted butter on my portion. Ari was being the jerk and should have absolutely apologized. Nobody was listening to Jazz and instead just ganging up on her and making her apologize for something she didn’t even do (and even if she had, who cares?!). I hope she realizes that she did nothing wrong, but the hug tells me she blames herself :(
In the kitchen Sander stood there, giving Jazz orders and monitoring them to make sure they hug, then laughing when Ari said "like that will change anything" making the camera look away. In the kitchen and during dinner the mom first steadied herself, just trying to process the fight, then during dinner looked a little shocked after her brother, sitting next to her, started playing with her food and making comments about it. Despicable. All of them. It's one thing trying to change and failing, because you will get there with trial and error, and it's another watching that person, not helping but instead just wanting the right to complain, adding fuel to the dumpster fire.
Jazz was totally in the right. I haven’t seen much of this show but her siblings seem so rude in every clip I’ve seen. I really wish she had a kinder support system.

Making her feel guilty about wanting food won't change the behaviour, it will just stigmatise it further and make her feel worse. If they weren't constantly policing what she ate and reminding her that she needs to lose weight, she could focus on something else and not have food on her mind all the time. The worst thing you can do to someone with an ED is constantly reminding them about food, it just triggers them to binge. I hope Jazz can work through whatever she is going through, she needs to find something that makes her happy and stop trying to please everyone else.

It UPSETS me to see how everyone is dismissing why Jazz is mad and not realizing whats going on. She had a bit right to be upset. Also for her brother to say that her sister is "in charge" of her meals is absolutely unhealthy. He said the word "in charge" meaning she has control. This makes Jazz feels like she has no say in what she can eat. Also her sister for not even letting her take a bite and making her wait. This is mentally unhealthy and triggering to see that they dont realize(more for someone who struggles mentally with food). You have to let Jazz have some control or have a say. Instead of controlling her, they should be guiding her and not push it

I truly feel for Jazz. She’s lectured by all of her family. If you watch you can see it. They push blame on her for her unhappiness when they have a huge hand in it all! She needs to get away from them for a bit and get her breath. It’s so difficult to live under their thumbs.

It's honestly crazy to me that this has been filmed for this long and publicised for the world to see. Jazz is going to have some real realization of a huge amount of trauma if the film crews can ever stop following this family.. Never liked family channels or publicly documenting kids to start, but this is next level. Her parents are so abusive. Jazz seems like a very strong and amazing woman though. I hope she can get away from the cameras, and get the help and support she needs. ❤️

Despite all the negativity from the family, I have to give kudos to the grandparents. I know it must be tough to try and understand some thing that you don’t necessarily agree with, but they are doing a wonderful job at being accepting.

Atleast what they have showed us about her binge eating, it has to do with her mental health. They don't seem to give her a say in her eating. Poor Jazz has been exploited and used by her fame hungry mother and idiot father. The child made a decision that she was unable to make, while in front of the world. She became the poster child for transgender children and was held up as a role model. That kind of pressure and responsibility is too much for most adults. Imagine a child/ teen. They are lucky she is only exhibiting her discomfort with an eating disorder and not sleeping pills or a gun. She is building a protective layer around herself since her body and sexuality has become a money making spectacle. Is anything in this world private and not for sale.

I think Jazz's eating disorder stemmed from transitioning to early, causing her to stress eat.
We can't say for sure why her eating disorder developed, the fact that it did after her srs could be indication that maybe that's not what she truly wanted, maybe it was the trauma from the complications and needing a revisionist surgery and 2 further aesthetic surgeries afterwards. Many people get post surgery depression when having major procedures, it's probably not something that's talked about enough
I lost a ton of weight because I did the real work cut mayo butter anything with alot of preservatives cus they have choke sugar. But holy moly jazz does not look like the same person.
Tbf yeah a better diet is helpful, but jazz has an eating disorder, she needs a therapist to return to at least regular eating patterns, that will help lose weight in of itself

I feel like her family really does be coming at her too much about her weight cause i know i wasn’t the only one who seen them eating pieces of the pasta too yet there’s complaining that she put a lil to the side.Plus, her weight shouldn’t be a topic at the dinner table. Clearly she is trying to eat more healthily but with all them ganging up on her like they do I wouldn’t see how she could even do anything to help herself.

@@emma2370 this doesn’t help anyone lose weight though. from a personal pov, when you hound someone like this and humiliate them it just makes them start eating in private and binge eating because they don’t want to hear the comments and the berating. there are a small amount of people who actually take this and end up losing weight, but even then you’re probably creating issues for some people who lose the weight but not very healthily and keep up the unhealthy habits.

@@catrocks93 it's hard to say exactly what their views have been and we only see what's on the show. But it's been years of them being judgemental, critical, dismissive and unkind towards Jazz, not only about her gender but her as a person. And then doing what many do - say they love you unconditionally while constantly making you feel unsupported and bad. I think one could say lots of microaggressions.
So it's really great to see them not bring their own opinions to the forefront (as usual) and appear to be supportive.

Amen. There needs to be more emphasis on developing appropriate coping skills such as a consistent exercise (something like walking a dog twice a day) rather than taking away the emotional eating.

I have struggled with my weight all my life, I'm in my 40s and I was told by my family when I was younger that I had to stop eating certain foods etc. You cannot bully people into losing weight. It will happen when they are ready. Being nasty to someone over food they eat is very abusive and it doesn't help

jazz shouldn't have apologised in this situation imo. ari misread the situation and ignored jazz when she repeatedly said that she wasn't eating, just putting a portion aside. if anyone was to apologise, it should have been ari because she didn't communicate with jazz at all, she just assumed the worst of her and made it a big deal. making a big deal about food is so counter productive when dealing with someone who has an eating disorder - whether you're making a big deal out of what is being eaten, when, how much, etc.. it just further distorts the psychological response to food. it seems like ari's personality is a little bit controlling (not necessarily in a negative way) but she should bear in mind that everyone she talks to is different, and an approach like this can be interpreted incredibly negatively by some.

It's because they did conversion therapy on Jazz. They didn't want a gay son, so they guided him into being a "trans woman" instead. Their son dating a trans identifying male has them worrying about homosexual vibes all over again.

Changing your diet is hard. Responsible eating is hard. Coming from the other side of the spectrum I definitely feel for her. It still is challenging for me to eat regular and sizeable meals and while I'm not underweight anymore I'm still thin and it is still a journey but what I learned is that people criticizing your every move won't help
