I don't think he is guessing. He uses the reticle to measure and then dials it that amount. That's what the reticle is for. Dial or hold off with the reticle once you are close.
Thanks! Been waiting for this video. I have the 6x24 old version of the Match Pro. It was under 500 and my 1st "real" optic. The new scope cam footage was so good I could watch the bullet in flight!
I bought that scope about 2 years ago. And it's been very solid. The glass is usable and the reticle is big and literally eliminates the need to dial . Which saves alot of time.
I totally agree with your review on this bushnell. I got one from them as soon as they released and been recommending them for a budget friendly option since I put it through its paces. I think it is the way to for its price point.
Thanks for your review based on that I purchased one, and love it. Lilja barrels are hard to come by, on eBay for a 20”, I bid up to $950 then I had to let it go to someone else. Instead I found a Bartlein 26” for $650 and ordered one. According to your side by side test there wasn’t much difference to speak about. Just got back into shooting 22lr , I purchased a CZ457 MTR, as a budget for this scope. Also, a second CZ457, MDT Chassis, Vortex Razor, 26” barrel, trigger, etc. Definitely understand dimensional returns on money spent, but it’s an additive hobby. Just like campfire sidearms…
Great video. I am sold on them just from your review. A side note here though. I see where you have dripped cleaning solvent onto the butt stock and it streaked the finish. You should give that rifle to me because I would take care of it. Just tell me where you want me too pick it up, and as a total classy gesture on your part, leave that scope on it please!
GR8 VIDEO ILL STICK WITH THE ARKEN TILL I GET THE TRAK... BY THE WAY FINALLY GOT OUT N TRIED THE STRAW.... AMAZING RESULTS ALMOST ELIMINATED COLD BORE COMPLETELY.... GRB FIND THNX.... IM A BELEIVER THNX
@nathancoulter9294 I ended up getting this scope, on the 457 MTR, and put it in a MDT XRS chassis. It fit perfectly using 1" rings from MDT. The only thing that was specific to my case, I put the enclosed forend on my chassis, which with 1" rings prevents from using the sunshade included with this scope. I needed to upgrade to 1.5" rings to get enough clearance for the sunshade. For a nice low profile, low to the barrel setup, the 1" rings are great.
I swapped out the scope on my CZ457 today for this scope, it had been on a centerfire. I have an NRL match Saturday so it'll get a lot more use on my competition rifle. I was very impressed with the clarity of the glass, been a while since I looked through it. My windage turret isn't stiff like yours is, thankfully. I know you criticized the reticle for not having half mills marked but I was using the .2's for holdovers and I really liked them. The reticle to me is clear and easy to use for holdovers. I have previously been using the Arken SH4 which I like but , def not as good as this. Before that I used the Athlon TAC which I found had an unforgiving eyebox, OK for bench but not for me in NRL22. Anyway, I love your channel and appreciate the effort you put into it to bring us such great content.
I went to this on my nrl 22 rig as my mark 5 is only parallax free 50 and beyond. While I own 3 Arkin scopes and love them I feel there is a bit more with this scope and my new favorite sub1k as well.
Man, look at all of the great comments - seems like this one was a hit! I had the older MatchPro, but returned it as it didn’t seem much better than my Bushnell Elite. It seems like this one is legit! I’m not a fan of the reticle though
I like it when you miss. Let’s me know all the awesome shots you make aren’t just a highlight reel of something that took you a hundred tries. If you’re willing to show misses then you’re an honest guy in my book. Picked up one of these scopes a few months ago and I couldn’t agree with you more. It punches way above its price point.
I am following your advice and getting a 457 MTR plus scope for production class PRS. But I am torn between scopes, since you have high praise for this one and also for the Athlon Helos BTR Gen2. So between the Bushnell Match Pro ED and the Athlon Helos BTR, which one would be your choice for production class? Also (besides magnification), are there any noticeable differences between the two? Thank you! I LOVE your channel, I am doing more video watching than actual shooting, and it is YOUR fault! : )
I shot this side by side next to my Cronus . At 50 yards , I really couldn’t see a lot of difference in the glass . The Bushnell was so impressive ! I’m hoping the Japanese glass of the Cronus shows its price point beyond 100 yds . What’s your thoughts on that Josh ?
Budget scope. Fifty years ago 700 bucks equaled over 1600 dollars with a cumulative rate of inflation at 136.0%. I had a Bushnell Elite mounted on my 64 Anschutz it had 1/8 clicks and resettable zero. Wasn't a bad scope I sold it and the rifle a couple of years ago only other Bushnell I have owned is a fixed six power that is mounted on a .222 I have. It must be over thirty years old. Bausch and Lomb had a hand in Bushnell I always heard maybe not anymore. It really gets me that 700 bucks is now budget pricing when I bought my first Zeiss years ago I had to pay for it in installments.
That is not a bad scope for the money, but like the bow and arrow it is not the arrow that makes a difference but the Indian . In this case YOU are the difference. I bought the Bushnell Forge a few years ago when they were going to be discontinued for 50% off and mounted it on my 22lr not bad for the money too. I would like to put you on the spot and ask if there was only one brand of 22lr ammo that was going to be your go too, which would it be? I know rifles are finicky but just talking ammo, which have you found to be more consistent?
As someone who can afford any scope. I think it is a good scope. But for that much money, I don't think it's a budget scope. I still might consider it for my twenty-two bench rest league. Great review.
Hey brother love the channel hope we bump into each other one day live out here in Longs S.C. and have a question getting my first bergara b14 R trainer 22lr what do you recommend for a rail don't want to buy wrong one they talk about short throw and long throw does it make a difference or will any remington 700 picatinny rail work?
Hi Josh, If you had the choice of the Match Pro ED the Arken EP 5 or the vortex Strike eagle what would you go for ?, at the moment they are all available over hear in Australia, Thanks for your reviews .
Right on Josh,, thank you for the help advice and quick reply,, buddy. You are awesome bro. Help out the .22LR community,, we love your channel and input. Keep up the great content. Cheers from Ontario, Canada.
I was going to order a Primary Arms GLX 4.5-27x56 w/the BPR mildot reticle, but I may just pick up one of these instead. They appear to have about the same features, but the Bushnell is about $150 less. I saw another review for this scope(can't recall who made it),but he was impressed too.
I hereby accept your invitation to me to come out and shoot at your range. Thank you. Very nice of you. Now brother you do realize that reticle is ready for you to avoid ever twisting those turrets at all right? At some point you’re good enough with those turrets you shouldn’t have to pay so much for first focal plane. And I realized maybe I shouldn’t have my damn self...
Ffp is necessary in my style of shooting. I need my holds to be the same regardless of magnification. I may shoot a holdover only stage and go from 10-20x
A pretty biased review. Compare to your own video a year ago, ruclips.net/video/TBgK4Totom4/видео.html Arken EP5 obviously has less chromatic aberration at high power, while this MPED has the purple mirage around all the white poles. Bushnell MPED is a good budget scope, it's just not any much better. I would say, at most on par with EP5. For 1K- price range, EP5 is obviously the king.
I had never looked through the match pro ed at that point. Also consider what your seeing in the video is being filmed by a gopro so the image is better than shown. Having owned both i 100% stand by what I say in this review

I think i learned more about holdover and scope adjustment in this video than i have ever before. I feel like a light bulb just went off over my head!
Your ability to guess at how much to holdover or dial the turrets is amazing.
I don't think he is guessing. He uses the reticle to measure and then dials it that amount. That's what the reticle is for. Dial or hold off with the reticle once you are close.
As a Bushnell elite scope fan and a leupold scope fan I loved this video 📹 😅long time subscriber from Ireland 🇮🇪 🎉😊

Great review as always Josh. Always a must watch! Keep them coming!
You just explained what I need to know about this scope in one video, the best, love this.
Can't say I have seen a bad review on that scope. Thanks fer sharing !!
I bought that scope about 2 years ago. And it's been very solid. The glass is usable and the reticle is big and literally eliminates the need to dial . Which saves alot of time.
Really good stuff presented in a very enjoyable format. Watching you make that scope work was the best kind of review for me,
I’ve got the original match pro and love it. Can’t wait to get this version of it because it can only get better.

I just got the OG Match Pro on my Ruger Precision Rifle and the glass on that is very good. It’s my first MIL scope.
Thank you Josh and looks like a great scope
I just ordered the 457 Varmint MTR today, looking at getting this scope. With the 419 rail, what brand and size rings are you using in this video?

Do you known if the barrel is actually going into production?
It is, think they are waiting for the next run to add it to the website

How does this optic compare to the Arken EP5? Mostly curious about glass clarity/quality.
It out glasses the arken easily

I set my parallax to the average distance of the targets for that stage if i can get away with it
