I use an MTR with a Swampfox 4-14x44 Scope. The Swampfox is basically the Vortex Diamondback Tactical, but with a lower MSRP to keep me within the $1200 range for NRL base class, as well as well under the base class for PRS. So far the set up has worked out great, and I'm able to compete in both.

I've been shooting in a few PRS matches a year now for a few years. I started with a Savage MkII FV-SR which offers a lot of rifle for the money, but have been wanting to step up my game and move up to a better rifle. The CZ 457 platform is a no brainer since it is a solid reliable action and trigger as you mentioned, but because it's also so popular in the sport there are a lot of aftermarket stocks and barrels out there for it. To start off with a 457 i knew i either wanted a Varmint barreled option like the Pro Varmint, Varmint, one of the AT-One version, or the MTR. I would have loved to get the precision trainer MTR with Manners stock but not ready to commit that much money, and theres a string chance i might get a chassis diwn the ready. The crappy part is now thst I've been ready to go to a 457 Varnint or MTR and have the extra bit of money to do so, I haven't been able to find any for the last few months, LOL. Until yesterday that is. I found the MTR version you have in the video in stock finally and ordered it immediately. I think it's one of the best bag for your buck in a factory rifle. The wood stock looks nice and comfy, and you get an upgraded match chamber on the Varmint barrel, and it really isn't much extra over the AT-One or Pro Varmint models. I can't wait to start trying out different ammo to find which one it likes and what type of groups I'm capable of (because I'm sure that for a while this rifle will be way more accurate than I).
I think that between a CZ 457 or maybe Bergara B-14R there is no better rifle until you are at the point of investing into a Rim-X or Vudoo.

I’m a plinker, not a competitor, but, should have watched more of your videos before buying my first 22 LR rifle last month.
I own several 22 LR pistols, the first one I bought in 1976, a High Standard Citation. Over the years I added more HS pistols, Beretta, Browning Medalist, S&W model 41, Feinwerkbau (best shooter I own) and recently a Volquartsen Scorpion. Collection now stands at 23 pistols.
Which bring me to my first 22 LR rifle which I just finished. Going to the range later this week to test. Here is the build: Bergara B14R001, Tract Toric 4-20x50 Mil, Area 419 20 MOA scope base, American Rifle Company rings, Flatline Ops Sniper ACD and Warne bipod. What do you think?

I have the .22 CZ 457 MTR. I can't get my trigger down below 2.35 average on 5 in a row. I was looking for a Yo Dave as you have mention several times in your video's. Took mine apart today to maybe trim the internal OEM spring for this Weekend match at 200 Meters. It appears the trigger is more riveted than a pin or a bolt. I had lots of problems getting the Trigger pin back in, I actually bent it. No where can I find a replacement. So I decided I would go with the Timney as you like so well. Called three times and no answer and voicemail is full. I did send and e-mail and will wait and see!
NEXT, a question about the HMR 17. I want a match barrel to reach out to the 200 Plus yards. Would love to have it on the MTR stock, but can't find that either. So thinking Lilja might be a good way to go. Your thought and comments? TIA.

If you bought the sunshade from Amazon from the bundle shown with the Helos BTR Gen 2 6x24-56 scope, you would have gotten the sunshade for the Gen 1 scope, which is incorrectly bundled with the Gen 2 scope--The threads are much too small in diameter. You need to order the scope sunshade with model #:212100S. That is the correct sunshade. I called Athlon and verified the correct model number. The correct item description on Amazon is: "Athlon Optics Riflescope Sunshade - 56mm -Compatible with Ares ETR, Midas TAC, Black" -- They leave off the Helos Gen 2 part of the description, which appears in the full description on the Athlon Optics website--"ARES ETR, Midas TAC & Helos BTR GEN2 56mm Sunshade - Matte". Although I called the Amazon customer service people and explained all this to them, the wrong sunshade is still bundled with this scope on the Amazon website.

I’m getting ready to shoot my first match with a ruger 10/22. If I like it I will be looking for a better rifle but still would like to stay in production class do to budget constraints. If I start with this base setup, if I decide to move to open, will this still be competitive with some up grades are will I pretty much need to go full custom at that point?

@@PursuitofAccuracy The Tikka T1x is now called the Tikka T1x MTR. And, they still sell it only with the plastic stock, which is not so bad if one buys and installs the target handgrip from the Beretta website. I can't tell if the addition of the MTR designation to the name means anything; it still sounds like the same rifle I bought over a year ago.

i just checked CZ USA"s site (1-8-2022) and the CZ 457 Varminter MTR now has an MSRP of $865 which puts this combo $77.49 over the MSRP cap unless they have raised the cap. I just ordered the Athlon
