When I talk about having 2 rounds that shot low there were actually 3. In that third group the low "hole" actually had 2 bullets go through that hole. I didn't see it until I edited the video. As always I appreciate you guys watching!

I noticed when it shot hole on hole the velocity was the same. That's why I like airguns more more control of the projectile speed but anyways that is some dam good shooting 👍

I was also very impressed after shooting rws target ( orange box) at 100 yards.
50 yards gets boring because it shoots only one hole all the time...

as a non scientist I cannot really agree so far. 1st: even done "same day" means not much cause in the 2nd raw (where scientists normally start in ) the day is changing it variables literally "live": temperature, light intensitiy, humanity, windspeed. 2nd When he started shooting the barrel was cold, allready the 2nd shot had another air/gas ammount than the first, the barrel gets warmer after each shot, when he stops shooting it cools only from the outside, which changes the barrel atanomy again( to be exact its bending because where the wooden stock coveres the barrel the temperature stays higher, meaning the barrel bends upwards. 3rd after each shot the remaining lead creates another frictionfactor, but while the same time the inner barrel diameter is changing due each shots temperature while changing windspeed and moisture is cooling down the barrel at differnt parts in different areas of the barrel. Still to consider is that the hotter the barrel gets the less pressure is needed to speed up the bullet because the lead on the barrel will loose friction with raising temperature (closes circle to Point 2). 4th Precision of the ammo can may vary strongly within the same package because lack of precission scales of powderammount. Even if the gun itself would magically have allways the same condition-the bullet will face different types of airturbulenced caused by many other factors. I mean its okay, the gun shoots great with even with bullshit ammo. But as a non scientist, I think u have overlooked some...scientific points.

I agree. They say the CZs are too expensive but when you show one on a video they immediately compare it's performance to a rifle that costs twice as much. I think they are a good value.

I own the CZ457 Varmint. SK Standard + is the best Ammo I can run through it. The CZ .22's are flat out the best shooters and best value for the money among the Ruger, Tikka, Bergara, Savage and Springfield "Precision .22's". "Precision" is a very loose tag line among those manufacturers. I've sent the Ruger Precision .22, Springfield 2020, and the Tikka down the road as they were not consistently accurate. The Tikka was the best of that group of three.

I have a Browning t-bolt target/varmint with a Leopold VX FREEDOM 2-7-33. I use this exact ammo. It loves it. I can consistently shoot the bulls eye and put every single round in THE SAME HOLE!! You can hardly see the new hole. I've had all kinds of. 22's in my lifetime (I'm 53) and I've shot countless rounds of. 22 bullets by different manufacturers and I can honestly say that the combination I have is the most accurate I have ever had or seen.

Have been watching all your videos, some more than once. Three reasons: first one because I have a CZ457 American and needed to decide if upgrading to MTR could make a difference. Secondly, making a decision on the best ammo for my rifle, and finely because in my opinion you did it the best.
Great presentation, technical set up, consistency and effectiveness.
Now for the results, your findings are spot on, SK+ works best for me no questions asked. Also I was pleased to find out that my CZ performs great so no point in wasting money ( by the way turns out I am using the same Sightron 36 power like you).
Finally, a big thank you, your hard work helped me big time.

I too have a cz 457 American. I epoxy bedded the action. That helped a bit. Then I put 2 pieces (one on top of other) bicycle tire inner tube pinched between stock and barrel. Right out on top of stock. Test different places with your ammo. SK standard plus consistently gives me 1/2” 5 shot groups at 50 yds. You must lot test too. I’ve had great lots of standard plus beat bad lots of center-x.

@@juliusjames5577 Thanks for the tip. Interesting about the rubber under the barrel, never heard this before, is this supposed to dampen vibrations? Only thing I changed in mine is a YODAVE trigger spring thus setting the trigger to about 0.5 pound. Made for a significant improvement. At this stage I am the weakest link and it will take some work before the rifle reaches its limits. On a calm day I do under 0.5" at 50 yards but I get fliers much to often. Also found out that Norma Match works as good as SK, just in case I can't get it.

Dude my MTR loves this stuff and your groups will tighten up. I have shot small bore for years and have learned you never clean the bore until your accuracy starts to diminish. Changing ammo is as simple as 5 to 10 fouling shots in between brands without cleaning and 3 shots cold bore with same ammo. Nice vid as always.

I picked up some BBM .22lr last year that was on sale for $3 for a box of 50. It's made in Germany for BBM and has 40 grain lead round nose projectile with a light wax coating. I bought several boxes and went through just about all of it in 2 outings because they were so much fun to shoot. I have a Ruger 10-22 receiver, bolt with Volquartsen internals and BX trigger in a Ruger SR-22 aluminum chassis with a free floated 18" M4 profile barrel from Brownell's and its finished off with a Magpul bipod and Vortex 4-12 Diamondback scope. The rifle has become one of my favorites because it is a joy to shoot and extremely accurate. With the BBM ammo it gets even better. At 75 meters it will make 1 ragged hole and fliers are rare. If you can find it give it try.

Been taking my 10-22 through its paces and especially since I put in a Magpul Hunter stock, and so far THIS is the BEST ammo I've tried. I tried almost every kind of CCI's there is and while some are good, none come close to the groups I got with the SK Standard Plus. It even been the SK Biathlon, beat the Norma, C&B, Club Match, beat some Eley. The only brand so far that came close was Aguila. That shot almost as good but at a fraction of the price of the SK, when bought in bulk (though the Aguila has a very unique powder smell...). I'm going to try some more different kinds, but I have to say even with a Ruger factory barrel, it show 1 MOA groups all day at 50 yards. Highly recommend this stuff!

Holy Moley! That's some sweet shooting ammo in that rifle!
Re; Your Chrono. I use a Pact Model 1. On overcast days I do not use the shields. I use only the supports as an aiming guide. The shields are designed to give a consistent background for the "eye" to see the bullet. Sometimes a bright blue sky and sunshine can mess up the results. When you already have an overcast sky, adding the screens is not necessary and, in my experience, doing so increased "error" readings. Maybe too much of a good thing? Your chrono is different so maybe not. Just sayin'
Thanks for the continuing series on this rifle. My wife has been very pleased with hers. She has the "At-One" stock on hers and a 24" barrel. I took the Weaver 2-7x scope off her older rifle and mounted it on the CZ and her shooting has improved greatly (can't credit a new scope for the improvement)
So far, she has shot only bulk .22 ammo and some of the ammo her other rifle preferred. That is Wolf Match Target. We discovered that ammo shot the best in her rifle some years ago and I bought a case of 5000 rounds. At that time, as I understand, it was made at the German SK Lapua factory. I have heard it is now made by Eley in England. Anyway, it is good stuff and it was reasonably priced (at the time) for match ammo. I have seen it in stock currently, but at $95/500 😲 I paid well under $400 for the 5000 round case about 6 years ago.

    • @buffalosoutdoors
      @buffalosoutdoors  3 года назад

Thank you. About my chrono.... my sunshades are not removable... I got tired of them falling out on my range trips so I JB Welded them in place LOL!! I only take that chorongraph from my reloading shed to the range so it's only about a 200 yard trip. I found it better just to leave them in place. It was not only overcast that day but it was also late in the evening and getting dark. You can't tell it with the camera because I had the ISO cranked up but it was very low light. It was a good test for that Sightron scope though as I have been told that particular model doesn't do well in low light... Anyway I was surprised that chronograph only had a few errors out of 25 shots.
I believe you are correct about the Wolf stuff moving from the Lapua plant to the Eley plant. I have heard the same thing.

First off, thank you for all your time and effort.and $$$
It's nice to see people like yourself taking the time to do a consistent repeatable ammo/gun test.
    Excellent video
I'm a hobby MTR shooter from just across the river in S.E. Indiana.
I shoot a few bench rest matches and a few NRL22 matches that I'm not very good at but when it comes to ammo testing the CZ 457 MTR my brother and I have shot tens of thousands of rounds do of mid to high end ammo through a few 457s
My MTR has seen somewhere around 14,000 rounds, I know people won't believe that but that's a fact since April of 2019
And it keeps getting better with most ammo, unfortunately not so much for the cheapest stuff.
For instance my MTR started off kinda liking CCI SV and we shot at a club that required the use of their own CCI SV ammo. My brother and I could clean house at that match for about a year, now I have to borrow one of his guns to stay competitive lol
It sounds like you're on the right path anything from the SK/Lapua line is a great place to relieve yourself of some cash! Lol I even like SK Magazine in the 500 round Can.
RWS R50 or R50-SC should be an eye opener but it's $16 a box.
Eleys new simi auto bench rest has been doing great also.
I've had great luck with FIOCCHI EXACTA Winter or OFFICIAL 320 but it's also pricey!
Sorry, I'll finally get to my point
I could go on and on but I'll spare you some of the other good testing ammos and just say
Out of everything I've tested the best for the money is still SK standard plus and even better by a long shot is SK Long Range Match
On November 28 I only had time for 4 groups of 5 shots at 50yrd
    The groups were .252, .193, .129, .195 for a 4 group Ave of ( .192)
I hope I can figure out how to share a picture of the target.
that same day I shoot 5 5shot groups of SK STD+ that average was .428 not bad!
So I ordered a case of each! Lol
Please keep doing your test and if you have a problem finding some of the ammo please let me know

Great video. Very professional presentation. I am very impressed with that CZ, I love the look and accuracy. I am very tempted to pick one up.
I compete in small bore silhouette with an Anschutz 1712, sporter. It is very accurate, generally giving 1 MOA groups at 100meters. My best was 1/2" for five shots with the SK Standard Plus. Probably a fluke, but I'm keeping the bragging rights for that one.
I've burned up many cases of SK Stand Plus, Flat Point Basic, and Flat Point Match. I've had best luck with the Match. I've found the Standard Plus to be very lot sensitive. Some lots have been great, other lots, not so much. For my Anschutz, the SK Flat Point Match has been consistently a good shooter. The round nose SK Rifle Match is also very good, but I have not used it extensively.
Thanks again for sharing your test results.

Shooting rim fires for fun doesn’t always mean shooting hundreds of rounds. You seem to enjoy testing ammo and not being beaten by heavy recoil. I know from testing some seriously heavy recoiling cartridges I always warmed up shooting a 22. That way I knew the wind and my shooting skills were up to task. Then it also quickly becomes clear when a centerfire cartridge has made you punch drunk from being pummeled. The fact is; an accurate a 22 rifle will out shoot about every centerfire rifle to 100 yards every time. They might be a few shooters that can beat one but, not many. I did it plenty of times to guys who were shooting test groups out of their so called long range monstrosities to know. It humbled more than few of them at the local rifle range. If you up the cartridge size to 30-06 and try shooting 5, five-shot groups the same way it gets real hard real fast. When I started shooting 22 rifles a box of 50 shells cost fifty cents. The ones I have squirreled away and I still use cost ninety six cents a box. I bought some pricey ones now and then but, $6-dollars for a box of regular old 22s makes me want to cry. The way things are going people need to know you can shoot less and still get better and have fun. What’s the use of a 30 round magazine if you can’t put anything in it?

    • @buffalosoutdoors
      @buffalosoutdoors  3 года назад +2

You are so right about this. I could shoot that little .22 all day and not develop a flinch. After a couple of groups with my big bore center fires I do start to anticipate the recoil a bit and it shows up on my paper.

Well, as crazy as it sounds my son shoots competitively and was on the 2019 Jr. CMP National Champion team that shot at Camp Perry. He shoots a Feinwerkbau 2700 and believe it or not, we have tested several other brands and levels of ammo and his rifle loves SK Standard Plus the best. I am sure glad because I would much rather pay $6 a box vs. $20 a box.

I shot a 10 shot group at 50 yards using Wolf Match Target which I think is the same thing as SK Standard Plus. The group was 0.458. It was a little taller than it was wide but I am not a good bench rest shooter.

Standard shoots best in my stock CZ 457 At One at 50 yards. Do have a Timney trigger at about 3 oz. Nice shooting. Locked down and no wind. Single feed adapter? Just bought one to help slow me down and focus on the shot. 1095 is the sweet spot. That low one on target three was only 1074 hence the drop. Tenex has never shot well for me. Eley in general does not shoot well in my rifle. Most SK products shoot well. RWS shoots well also. So far a perfect score on a Factory Class ARA target has eluded me. Will keep trying.

When I shot rimfire benchrest competitions Sk Standard Plus was about as good at grouping as anything available, except for the occasional flyer, or low shot which killed your score. Great practice ammo to learn shooting in the wind. Back then I was buying it for 208$ per 5k rounds, shipped. LOL Was around the year 2004. You need to put 2-3 wind flags from the bench to your target and they'll help, and they'll explain some weird shots as well. LOL Great video!
