Christmas isn't the same holiday in Japan that it is in other countries. Last year $69,000,000 worth of fried chicken was sold from KFC during the five days surrounding Christmas so that families could sit down and eat a bucket of fried chicken together for dinner. My American wife is bewildered and a little indignant at this custom. So this year I thought I'd try to see if I could make gourmet fried chicken worthy of a Christmas dinner. Did I succeed in making it fancy enough?

I once was cooking with a friend and they said thay had allspice so I didnt bring over my jar. Turns out they had spice all ( a meat rub). They didn't understand why that wouldn't work in making apple pies.

So, I don't know if anyone has told y'all this but I hella appreciate the English subtitles. I have bad hearing so I try to use subtitles for everything my 98% of the time it's autogenerated and that usually makes no sense so when I find a RUclipsr who has subtitles in their video I appreciate them 40x more

was it hard learning it?
Yasmin Evalene hello! I learned all the hiragana and katakana in a couple weeks!! That was with spending 3 hrs a day just writing down the sounds the characters made and underneath that writing what the character was, it was challenging, and I’m still memorizing it so I can look at the character and immediately know the sound. Now a month and a half after starting to learn them, hiragana is easy, I know all of it. One more week of dedication to katakana and I’ll know that extremely well too. Each set takes about a week to memorize the characters with a little bit of thinking, but 3 weeks dedication to completely memorize each set on the spot. Hope this was helpful (: btw it was super fun to learn and it didn’t feel like I was really studying at all, I’ve learned basic Spanish in school and it’s totally different! Not a weaboo, just like the culture and food and want to visit Japan in the future!

I speak English and Japanese natively, but after learning French and German I realised a lot of ‘Katakana words’ are from other languages other than English too! A particularly interesting one I found was ‘アルバイト’ is borrowed from German Arbeit for example

Carrots can come in all colours from yellow to blackish purple so if you do see/have a differnt colour carrot don't worry indulge in it

Actually carrot's were originally purple, white and yellow, they were bred to be orange though in later years. I have however seen red carrots in farmers markets though. They seem to be growing purple, white, yellow and red carrots now at least in NC.
I also grow those old heirloom varieties of carrots up here in Canada, I love seeing all the different colors when I pull them up :)
I saw some variety colors at the market in Maryland I love that, why was orange ever the go to?

Wild carrots are actually purple, like beets, but the Dutch cultivated orange ones for their national colour and now that's what the world knows them as. I think they can actually be bred in all sorts of colours.

I never got mushrooms until a chef grilled them for me. I always thought they were supposed to be slimy and gross. Do you like steak..Portobello. Do you like just beef flavor...Shiitake.. Do you like earthy flavor.. Lions mane. Do you like nutty flavor.. Chanterelle. Do you like chicken... Hen of the woods. I got it once I expanded what I ate. Mushrooms are unbelievably complex and some like lions mane are revered for their health benefits. Let alone just not eating meat. I love meat btw. I'm not some psycho pushing mushrooms. Even though CO just legalized psilocybin mushrooms for ptsd soldiers...
