Wow you're rolling along on the Avi train! The scenery is so beautiful, & I agree Avi has found his folk/americana style music. It suits him well. As usual his lyrics are incredible, & there's that amazing whistle.
Saw him last night in Houston and met him afterward. He is one of the most wonderful and kind people you will ever meet. Heading to the Dallas show tonight. Great show. Aberdeen is a small town in California.
Avi was born and raised in California. His mother's parents and grandparents...owned a pack station. A place where people could trade in their horses and get a bed and meal before heading out again. No doubt gold miners often came through their place. When he and his family would leave his hometown and head toward his Grandparents, they would pass through this little town with a sign that said "Aberdeen". He loved the name and decided as a youth he would one day write a song about that little town. A lot of my ancestry was from Aberdeen, Mississippi. I suspect there are a lot of Aberdeen's in America.
Avi is one of the most humblest, sweet-spoken people I've ever met! His voice is so calming, versatile, and amazing! If you haven't heard it, listen to Change on the Rise. All the varied octaves are Avi!
There really is something special about feeling the fact that Avi is doing what he loves. I am glad for the bonus of folk/Americana falling into one of my favorite musical genres. Double happiness.
Thank you for reacting to this beautiful song. Avi grew up in Visalia in rural California (near the huge sequoia trees) and Aberdeen is a small place a few hours’ drive from his home. He used to ride a lot as a child but hadn’t done so for many years so I think he felt a little uncomfortable in this video. A new recommendation for your evergrowing list: “Try to get it right”.
This song always give me such peace. The music and lyrics seem to come from deep in Avi's heart. Another song with a similar sound is his cover of the Outkast song "Hey Ya!". He did that one with a group called The Sequioas, and the harmonies are wonderful. Please react to that one, if you can. Thanks!
Been a while since I've watched an Avi video but recalled really liking this when it came out. A fave. As good as he was with Ptx, he has such a unique sound, vocal quality which can be appreciated in his solo work. Ahhh, the vistas of the American West. The footage of Avi on horseback could just as easily have been shot 200 years ago when that area looked exactly the same. Landscape frozen in time. Really enjoy your reactions.
I love the video as much as the song! To me, one of the best lyrics, wash my soul without the rain! As Charlotte gave you a link to Avi's explanation, I will let him speak for himself! I so enjoy your reactions to Avi's music and the respect and appreciation you show. Thanks and have a great day, cheers! PS I hope your daughter is better and you are able to rest?
That is an amazing line! Great song and the video was beautifully shot. Thanks so much for the great requests. Today was the first day she had some energy again and felt better. It was chickenpox so there is still a way to go, but the worst days are behind us. 😀
Thank you for taking us along on your discovering Avi, Saeed ~ You definitely make the journey special! I still remember having chicken pox as a child back in the 1950's ~ glad that your daughter is now on the mend! ❤🩹
This recording I did of "Aberdeen" at Avi's August 24, 2019 concert in Dallas, Texas will clear up a few things about the video. On that first solo tour, Avi would almost always preface each song with some backstory, so I recorded that as well, and I'm very glad I did. Sorry that the recording isn't great, but I was stuck standing against a wall (the show was oversold into SRO) and so didn't have the best angle for video especially. ruclips.net/video/ZA_BfPFHNgQ/видео.html
A couple of things about the music video. It was filmed by Jimmy Bates, head of FifGen Films (who did PTX videos like "Daft Punk Medley", "Can't Hold Us", "Radioactive", and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", just to name a few), using a drone, of course. As for Avi riding the horse, he actually competed in horseback riding as a youth, but hadn't ridden in about 20 years when it came time to do the video. Needless to say, he felt it bigtime afterwards. And I recommend you check out his audio-only ALT version of the song. I like how he handled the chorus differently.
Love the lyrics in this....I see it as he leaves PTX and all those stresses behind him and starts his journey home...to a new life...gorgeous vistas....I am a little late here with this one...don't know how I missed it lol. Thanks Saeed.
Hi! Thank you, I really like this kind of music and voices, and the MV atmosphere 👏. I suggested, a few days ago, Khris Klafförd and 3 of his songs. Khris reminds me to Avi or vice versa; similar type of music, powerful voice, ... I wish you react to Khris as well, if you agree of course. Take care 👋🎶
Awww Avi....his voice always calms me. He is a gift
Avi ❤❤❤
this song is fantastic
So good!
This is one of my favorite Avi songs.

All elements came together in this song. Amazing. Thanks so much for watching!
This my friend is for me one of his best and most beautiful songs.

And it shines through in his music and adds even more meaning an depth to his songs. Love it.
Love this one…..strong….
Very powerful. Especially the combination of Avi's voice, the music and the video.

Beautiful to witness.
Comment for the algorithm m8. This is one of my favourite Avi tracks along with Change is on the Rise. The guy has an amazing voice.
Thanks so much! Appreciate that.

this is the land of his grandparents.
Thanks for letting me know.

@SaeedReacts. Yes, check out the explanation. Better to hear from the horses mouth! 😂 did you see what I did there?
Your video with the backstory is great, never heard this before.

I added his name to my list, but it is very long (2000 songs and artists).
@@SaeedReacts. You'll need a scroll 😂. I'll get patience.
