In this topic I would say we need to distinguish two things: 1. Be competetive 2. Just have fun To be competetive, you need to have... I don't know how to say it... kind of "driving factor". Be a fan of motorsport, feel it somehow even on daily driving. If you are "sunday driver" probably you will never be competetive, having 4 hours / week. But! Just to have fun, doing 3 races per week - this is available for all the people. Feeling good even being 15th etc. is super as long as you are clean driver. And what is more important for both - never, never ever compare yourself to so called "aliens" - they are driving and practising like 10 hours per day, every day - cause more or less they are paid, sponsored etc. This is the same situation as comparing yourself to e-sport Counter Strike players etc. It's absolutely worthless. Just have fun!
the health aspect is an absolute game changer and it works wonders. I've experienced it myself. good diet and exercise loads you with so much energy that it's unreal. with a healthy body comes a healthy mind. great video, you've hit all the nails on the head with this one
This video is one of the most important videos to all sim racers mate. So many things here that people need to hear! I realised when my daughter was born that I was going to lose a lot of leisure time and that it would become important to carve out dedicated time for a hobby thats important to you and your mental health. That's when I really committed myself to ACC. Now it doesn't matter how crazy life gets at times, sim racing is one thing that is constant. BUT we must remember all of the things in this video are a priority.
Thanks man, I got my lil setup a year now, mainly cruising on AC but I've been getting into racing more and more, found your channel, but this vid helped a lot, struggle with balance thinking I needed to be on hours at a time. Now I'll aim for efficiency. Respect from 🇯🇲
I hear you mate, coming from someone who’s taken 8 days to watch the video and had to watch it in 2 parts, couldn’t agree more. I have a 6 year old and a 10 week old, plus working 50 hour weeks so don’t have a lot of time for racing. I’ve actually switched to AI 10min races and stick to the same track for a couple of weeks. I dint have time for practice but what I have found that has really helped is driving the same car in all different conditions and times of day and night. It’s helped with my race craft and lap rimes. Hopefully can get back into LFM when the bub is a bit older and see if it’s made a difference !
Great video and recommendations. I agree on the health point in particular and something I would like to focus on myself. Looking forward to your BMW setups. I love your Porsche pack but you are right, that car tries to kill you if you arr not 100% focused.😊
Brilliant video for someone like me who struggles to compartmentalise his time (maybe I have a bit of an undiagnosed ADHD I dunno). Cause I don't have a partner, I don't have children, but I still struggle with the Time pillar - then I pushed it against the Health pillar, and when my Health deteriorated I lost my Obsession/Passion for it as well. (While my Family Support is strong and I closely follow and watch motorsport since 1996 when I was 7yo - so I'm definitely sure I want to do this, but I just can't atm. And this video helps a lot in breaking down and understanding why - which is a complex problem for me it seems - which is the first step to go back to it.)
I got diagnosed with ADHD as a Child because I was not focusing on stuff I did not care about. If you dig a mile deep on health: food, exercise, sleep and meditation. You find that when you got it covered everything else in life starts lining up in your favour. And you have more control about it then you might think. But its hard to make does lifestyle changes
Great Video! This is why I tell friends who are interested in starting up to just get a PS5 and ACC, AC, F1, GT7 (kinda lame) and PC2. Plug in play and have heaps of fun without committing 30 hours a week to it. If this gets them hooked and they have the time then sure go for PC setup.
I'm going through this at the moment, I just have no time. It's either going to the gym or simracing, I can't do both. Tough... I'm only being able to race 2 hours per week and it's on the weekends...

In a way we all have this problem. These 2 hours fly by right?
@@SimracingArnout Totally. And I feel like I need 3 hours just to make the correct setup and adapt to the track...
