    Hi great video. I have just carried out this repair and am putting the camera back together. At 12:00 there is a small board that dangles when it is unclipped from the board below and is held by a single small grey wire. My grey wire has detached itself. The connection is still soldered onto the board but I am unsure where it connects to on the main camera body. Hope you can help. Thanks

    Thanks for tips of how to go through the challenge of disassembling the Nikon maze, but the critical detail is missing. What exactly do you do with the round white piece that is apparently at fault at 10:55? You move the contacts up and down with the tweezers so as to bend them upwards? Is the fault in bad contacts? dust? entangled contacts? The vid is old, but I'm counting on your professional memory... Thank you in advance!

    Hi, what seems o be the problem when the aperture lever is at the "down" position? This makes my d300s viewfinder dark. But if i use manual mode even if the viewfinder is very dark, the pictures are exposed correctly. The lever should be in the "up" position when I checked my d700.

    • @DIGISERVICEBG
      @DIGISERVICEBG  5 лет назад

      Hi, i really glad that my video helped you. About the flash - if the flex and other wires are ok(put in place and no cracks) you should serch the problem in the flash PCB. There is two options - defective PCB because of discharge of the capacitor while you dissasemble the camera and the second option is broken micro switch in the flash mechanism (in the Top Cover). Dear George,
      sorry for taking me so long to answer. You have to follow the above video step by step, but the most important is to remember where each of your screws came from. I used a cardboard and wrote down for each screw the moment I took it off the camera. If you do it later, probably you are going to forget it.

    Thank you very much for this video! Very clear what is the issue and how to solve it. However, that didn't go to plan... I managed to re-assemble the camera, the top display wasn't showing any information. However, the rear display functioned and with the camera in manual I could trigger the shutter and it recorded an image to the SD-card. So at least I knew the problem was solved thanks to your video. However, I opened the camera again to check and re-connect the flat cable going to the top cover. Checked the other flat cables, now the camera is dead and makes a small clicking noice as soon as I put the battery in place. The 2 displays seem dead and the camera doesn't respond. Only when I put an SD-card in the green LED on the back start flickering slowly. Does somebody have an idea what could be going on in my D80?

      @timjoseph887 6 лет назад +2

      The actual part after all the BS unscrewing footage is at 10:40. But he doesn't say exactly how to "repair" the "Brush". He just shows him niggling with it with a pair tweezers, then fast forwarding to putting it back together at 10:59. Worthless video, because anyone can unscrew and take apart a camera.

    • @DIGISERVICEBG
      @DIGISERVICEBG  6 лет назад

      Hello and thank you for the comment :) If you do not know what's happening on the video and whether to fix a loose brush or change it to a new one, you should not comment on this video even if you say "Everyone can dismantle a camera" :)

    • @DIGISERVICEBG
      @DIGISERVICEBG  6 лет назад +2

      With all due respect, but what is not clear to comment on "Worthless video, because anyone can unscrew and take apart a camera." A loose brush, seen in a video that does not provide a good contact, and the camera shows a error. An text comes out and informs you that the part can be replaced or corrected ... Once again - if you are not aware of what you should do, you should not comment that the video is worthless. You probably do not know how much labor and effort is needed to get what you see. Still thank you for your time :)

    • @tomasbilek4339
      @tomasbilek4339 2 года назад +2

      @@DIGISERVICEBG I think Tim`s point is that the video should be called something like " camera disassembling" as the actual apperture brush repair is not really discussed in the video. Adding plain text "repair or replace" is not what the viewers are likely expectting to learn from this video :-)
      I appreciate making a video is not easy task, but at the same time the viewers spand lot of time watching it, dismantling their gear and potentially ending up in troubles as there are missing steps such as the soldering and actual "brush repair".
      Considering the potential time effort and unclarities in the video it makes me thinking it is more sensible giving the camera to the professional repair shop.

      After you take the battery out just wait a day before you start . It will allow time for the capacitor to drain

      Rubber bands, and make sure you stick it back on correctly this time.

  • @Rich-hy2ey

    Now you see why cameras that cost under $1000 when out of warranty are absolutely NOT worth repairing. This would cost at least $350 from a Nikon repair centre. A working D80 can probably be bought used for under $100 now on Ebay.

      Hi, for this camera model you can pay under 100USD but you still don't know the condition. So better repair your old camera - knowing that is not damaged by hit or water leak... and will be challenge to do it by yourself :)

    • @DIGISERVICEBG
      @DIGISERVICEBG  6 лет назад +1

      If you buy the spare part, its value is very close to the price of the entire second-hand camera. The purpose of this video is to show that there is a way to rebuild the operation of this camera without buying spare parts :) If you are aware of the workings and functions of a device, you do not have to watch a video in order to learn it repairing. My video is meant to get the attention of everyone interested in the problem of a camera. If someone has enough experience and knowledge ... even before 10:40, he has already figured out where the problem is and what needs to be done.

      That’s definitely a good option for a lot of people who aren’t technically savvy, or don’t have time for repair... esp since as poster says, the replacement part is nearly as expensive as another camera. Of course buying used there’s no guarantee the the replacement camera won’t develop the same problem you were trying to avoid fixing 😁 ... or not.
