Band has 20 year history in the Christian Rock world. This was their first hit .
Thanks for kicking off Red. Looking forward to the next one.
And this is how it feels when I
Ignore the words you spoke to me
And this is where I lose myself
When I keep running away from you
And this is who I am when
When I don't know myself anymore
And this is what I choose when
It's all left up to me
Breathe your life into me
I can feel you
I'm falling, falling faster
Breathe your life into me
I still need you
I'm falling, falling
Breathe into me
Breathe into me
And this is how it looks when
I am standing on the edge
And this how I break apart
When I finally hit the ground
And this is how it hurts when I
Pretend I don't feel any pain
And this is how I disappear
When I throw myself away
Breathe your life into me
I can feel you
I'm falling, falling faster
Breathe your life into me
I still need you
I'm falling, falling
Breathe…
The lead singers of Red and Starset are actually good friends, Dustin Bates (Starset) helped write Gone, a Red song.
Lots of skillet fans love red, cus they are pretty similar.
Loved the vid!
Starset, Red, and Skillet*
Red and skillet don't sound similar
@@spartanx9293 okay kid
@@apec335 well I'm being honest compare the singers they have a very different style of singing compare faceless to the resistance or hide to awake and alive or let it burn to comatose they aren't very similar the only similarities between the two of them is that they are hard rock and Christian this gets even worse with most songs from innocence and instinct you're going to tell me most Skillet songs sound anything like start again or shadows (which was co-written by you know who so it's not going to sound like a skillet song)
@@apec335 ruclips.net/video/bwCiY-TmGr4/видео.html listen to this and now tell me how it sounds like a skillet song
Thanks for the reaction bro. Love the vocals as well
Thanks for reacting to this song. While it's still a good song it's understandable that you'd find this song a bit generic; this was their first single after all (from their debut album End of Silence from 06 according to Wikipedia) so they had to start somewhere. The current lineup is lead singer Michael Barnes and the Armstrong brothers Anthony (guitars, backing vocals) and Randy (bass, backing vocals, piano), all 3 being the founding members. Michael definitely has a unique and stand out voice so you'll be hard pressed to find someone who has a similar voice as him.
Also fun fact: their former lead guitarist Jasen Rauch is now currently the lead guitarist for Breaking Benjamin.
P.S. Jasen (one of this songs writers) has said this song is about ""falling', finally reaching the end of our rope, where we realize at last... we need God."
Looks you and I was the one that got the reaction going man.
@@chris2fur401 So it would seem, although I believe you were the one who requested it first when I requested it (based on his reply to my request for it, although he didn't name you specifically then if that makes sense). Either way it's nice he finally got to it.
Man, I do love some Red! Been into this band since over a decade. This song is from their debut album, actually is the song who first made them known. I agree with you that it sounds kinda generic. Don't get me wrong, I love their first album, but they definitely keeps evolving with every release ia songwriting view. I've seen that The War We Made and Feed the Machine are both on the queue, I'm pretty sure you'll dig them. Plus, Michael Barnes vocals just keeps getting better and better
Well said
If Red has done anything they have certainly captured a sound and made it their own. I can't think of any that are close-- maybe very good friends Breaking Benjamin and Starset.
Is this really the first Red song you've done? You've been missing out my man! One thing I will say, is that Red is one of those bands that gets better and better as they go. Sort of like Skillet. A great example of their more recent stuff is their song 'Darkest Part' - if it's not on your list to do, it should be.
I'll need a link so I watch the correct video.
@@THEDavidHeretic I have tried several times to send you the link but YT is being stupid and won't let me. The comment is not showing up. If you go to the band's official page it should be easy to find. There is a long and a short version, I would go with the short one.
@@THEDavidHeretic ruclips.net/video/7KzK-1M3QjE/видео.html
Note that the MV for this song actually ties into the MV for Feed the Machine, a song that came out before Darkest Part did.

Considering when they came out with this. I'd say they did it before most of these bands. So for the time it was different.
This was one of their first songs, I'd say they have lots more that are worth a listen. Another band to check out is thousand foot krutch, depending on what you think of them but I would start with "fire it up".
Just saw you've already reviewed a song by them, but still check out that other song.
I'll need a link so I watch the correct video.
@@THEDavidHeretic Late reply but here you go: ruclips.net/video/HHbibiGiel8/видео.html
If you ever revisit this band I'd LOVE to see you react to "feed the machine"
"Let Go" is a great one sonically. A lot of tempo changes in that one.
It hurts so much seeing someone react to early Red... It's not something new but I'd really recommend Gravity Lies.
7.3 is actually a bit higher than I expected.
You should react to RED let go from end of silence album it’s their most iconic album to date.
Try RED, the song "feed the machine." Great video as always!
The guitars and drums are still nothing extraordinary but that wasn't what made me a fan in the first place so I think that's okay. What's important for me are Michaels voice as well as how they're layering those strings on top (like at 6:21) and the album where they perfected this layering was "of Beauty and Rage".
I've already seen recommendations for Gravity Lies but I personally think that "Shadow and Soul" or "Falling Skies" would be better choices to show their progresssion.
Though their new style seems to be way heavier after going independent in 2019 and we fans already got a taste of that on their latest album "Declaration". Every Song except for "The War We Made" and "From The Ashes" is basically heavier than anything they've done before
Shadow and Soul is gorgeous
7:15 then I recommend you check one of the other songs already over and hide are pretty good
This was their first hit as others have said. They have grown up since. Review The War Inside or Death of Me next. Much better songs
Nice song...very stylish, back in the day...when you want a down-tempo break from Offspring...hehehe...great message, "BREATHE"...I pegged it at 7.0...

Very much a Freshman effort from their Freshman album of my favorite band. I don't know why people tell people to start with this one. The only song I still love to bits and regularly listen to from this album is Pieces. Everything else has the same quality that you described as "generic." They very much evolve and grow with each album, including some misfire experiments every now and again (mostly from the albums Release the Panic (studio driven removal of the string section) and Gone (might be studio interference, but I don't know the story on that one)). My favorite three albums are Until We Have Faces (some of my favorite individual songs), Beauty and Rage (the best distillation of what makes RED special from Intro to Outro), and Declaration (their newest). You seem to not mind music videos, so that would be the main source for any reactions, however I find them to be cringey and awkward, not just for them, but for any band I've seen so far. The only band I can stand to watch live is Nightwish.
How about rise to the call from the not yet released Stryper album? Or, one of the songs from their album in 2018. I realize you probably know some Stryper but probably not the newer stuff. Maybe like Yahweh, or do unto others,
Thanks for reacting to Red. Ya always liked them because of the singers unique vocals. You got to try their song The War We Made.

And please the live in Tilburg version....

Wait. What? First time for Red? Really? Huh, I could have sworn. . . Well, anyway I guess better late than never? Ha! And for me, this isn't even their best song. Not even close. I mean it was fresh back in 2005-2006, but after 15 years, better than "Breathe Into Me" is "Gravity Lies", "Lie to Me", "Cauterize", "A.I.", "Sever". My personal favorite track is "If I Break". Many of their more subdued tracks are nice ("Pieces", "Take It All Away", "Hymn For the Missing", "Of These Chains", etc). They also tend to re-record / remix tracks either completely stripped down or EDM; there really is something for everyone.
By the way, strings on albums are not sampled.
Finally for a band that is "different" (at least in their general genre classification), the independent era of Falling Up was very nice. Call it a sort of ambient experimental fantasy science fiction alt-rock. Surveying my friends, they all seem to like "Rangers" so, check out Falling Up - "Rangers".
I'll need a link so I watch the correct video.

Great tune, great chorus. The only song I like from these guys and i guess maybe feed the machine that one is good. Other than that never could get into these guys.
I got yelled at when I used the word generic. LoL To me the production is way too polished. Their newer stuff is better for sure.
React to a song from their latest album next called Infidel. Here's the link:

I love Red, but I get it when you say generic. They give me Breaking Benjamin vibes.
Sounds exactly like 100 other bands out there. Right down to the thin nasaly vocals.
Lol it's from 2006. Red has completely captured their own sound and made it theirs. Nowadays, there's NO band that is quite like them. They're unique in every sense of the word. Also, no vocalist sounds like Michael Barnes. He's one of a kind.
To be honest i think they have a unique sound, even here. It's not something super special but it's enough to set them apart.
