So this one has the same error as the previous edition: Matt kicking the doberman in The Man Without Fear was originally a page turn - Miller specialised in those, especially with the great internal monologue thete - yet here it's on the right page, deflating the surprise. The whole issue 3 is moved a page for some reason.
I know this is a small thing but reading it back in the day it was one of the first times when I noticed the comic book artists really taking advantage of the medium they worked in.
Finally preordered this one, I’ve had paperbacks of these works forever and so excited Marvel is reprinting! As always thank you for the coverage man 📚📚📚
Also figured this would be the spine choice after the Miller Reprint last year but great to see a look at it

It looks nice and the book's mapping sounds easy to follow. My only complaint is that the logo work on the dustjacket design isn't similar to the main Miller omnibus. Like Marvel for some reason doesn't give the Daredevil omnis consistent spines (look at the new printings of Mark Waid omnis for instance).
DD is one of those characters where I haven't read much but love everything that I've read
Still in my first year of collecting Omnis, and Daredevil wasn't a character that originally appealed to me but did grab Miller's first DD omni last week in preparation to pair with this. Hopefully the run _opens my eyes_ to DD as a character.
Today I picked up Cates' Venom Omni, Moon Knight by Lemire & The Last Ronin Early Years.

Also, never realised I was a Marvel fanboy until looking at my collection grow, which is all Marvel or Batman. Also constantly discovering new characters that I want to read more on, in the past couple of weeks Moon Knight, Bullseye, Venom (Mac Gargan), Sentry and a few others all caught my attention with wanting to read more with them. Maybes one day, my attention will do similar with DC characters.
Read bendis daredevil! You will love the character after that
Been waiting for this for ages. Got most of these in original singles etc so can’t wait to see it in omni form. Great stories.
After finishing the Miller and Janson Omnibus for the first time, I instantly pre-ordered this Omnibus Companion (alongside with Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale: Daredevil Gallery Edition).
Can't wait to read it!

I enjoy Romita Jr art he did the art work on the first Punisher books I flipped threw & that's always the way I picture Punisher looking
I've been waiting for this for ages and cannot wait to get my hands on it! Also maybe underrated isn't quite right, but John Romita Jr may be a little underappreciated I think! He's drawn so many phenomenal runs and comics that I love (including his '90s X-Men run, where I was first introduced to him) but 'The Man Without Fear' may be his best work. It's way up there at least. My favourite artist of all time.
Looking forward to mine, but I’m not liking the thinner paper and higher price tag for these rereleases.

I have the 2016 printing and that image is in it.
2016 is from the Donnelley printer and is definitely not a mousetrap.
Finally I get my chance to get this in oversize/omnibus format. I missed out the last time, and I do not want to make the same mistake. I love The Man Without Fear limited series. Thanks Omar!
Kinda dumb it doesn’t match the spine of the recent DM reprint of the DD by Miller omni but whatevs
It's really stupid tbh. Sometimes (often times) it feels like Marvel doesn't get it's target audience at all. Yes, sure - the contents are what REALLY matters, but a lot of people who collect these omnis also care about the "shelf appeal" of their collection when they're not reading it and putting matching spines for the main omni and companion is such an easy thing to not screw up, especially considering that they do it with the first printing.
I personally prefer the companion to the prior frank miller omni. Such a great run. If you dont have this get it asap!
Definitely have it on order. Almost caught up with the entire DD run, then I can get caught up on ASM.
Did I double dip on the first FM omni to upgrade to better binding? Yes! Will I double dip on this one for the same reason? You betcha! I can never have too much DD!
The Man Without Fear issues were my first Daredevil comics and it's one of the greatest stories I've ever read. I missed out on the original printing so this is a must buy for me. I'll be getting the standard edition as I like the simple red and black look of that cover.
Like Hickman's Fantastic Four, Frank Miller's DareDevil is a masterpiece.

As a “companion” Frank Miller/Daredevil omnibus, I really wish they would have combined it with the Frank Miller/Elektra omnibus. The two are very much connected and both individual omnibus are tiny. Combining the two would barely get to 1000 pages. I got the regular DD omnibus and love it. But I already own trades of TMWF, BA, Elektra Assassin, Elektra Lives again. Only really missing Love and War (need that bad) but won’t be double dipping for the rest of it in 2 separate small volumes. Any chance Marvel will release the two together?

I’m conflicted on which frank miller omnibus is my favorite. I like the companion more overall but the original omnibus has my favorite issue (191).
Hey my bday is may 13th Omar should send me that copy of the companion for my bday. Lol no I’m Jk. You’ve done stuff for me personally as well as providing a great community and made shopping for omnis or collected editions so much easier. You do all the work for us and I am forever grateful. I know Omar isn’t the biggest fan of the end of Born Again but it’s my favorite story maybe of all time. This might sound blasphemous but it’s my favorite Frank miller stories as well

There was and it is a beautiful book. It came out a few yrs ago.
Why would they change the spine for the companion when the most recent main Omni printing has the classic spine?
I can't believe they managed to mess up the spine. At least it should fit with the last Miller reprint. Italics for the text is so stupid...

@@KokoTheGorilla69It has the Man without Fear 1-5 and DD 226-233. That's pretty sequential. Its got some other items but lots of omni's are like this that aren't called companions.
@@scottcrabface5662 it's not essential/connected to the original run of DD in the 1st omnibus, these are all extra stories.
So Marvel drops this while I'm out to see Spider-Man 3's re-release. Glad to see Miller's stuff in omni form. Hopefully we can get some epics with it.

@@EffigeeWhizLooking at this review and the one of the newest printing of the main Miller Omni the font on the spine doesn’t match. If you wanted to go a little further the back of this printing (to its credit) has the cover collection on the back which the previous printing didn’t however the newest Miller printing stuck with the non cover collection back of the previous printing. I think the first printings which Omar has did have traditional DM jackets the black spine and covers on back.(?)
It’s basically a very odd mishmash of haves and have nots between the two of them design wise despite being advertised as a two-piece.
Just to also add the newest Miller printing doesn’t have the black and red cover as either cover opting for a Jansen piece for the standard cover, whereas the companion kept the red and black for the standard cover.
Both books do bring back the classic DMs of the original prints (?), though I believe they’ve tweaked the font on this DM cover to go with the slanted look of the rest of the book rather than sticking with the traditional Dardevil font from the original issue.

Why does these new printings look thinner?
Paper stock and a different type of sewn binding. You can see all of that in the video.

Oh if you’ve never read Born Again, the Foggy thing is nothing compared to what happens. That’s all within the first issue or so.
