Awesome video!
This video might be the best ad for this product I've ever seen. It's the first one to show of the speed/ processing power and fast scene switching/ loading.
I'd absolutely love to see Midi messages sent per scene like Tom suggested
I'd absolutely love to see Midi messages sent per scene like Tom suggested
Hey guys! I hope you enjoy this video - it occured to me a couple of days ago how insanely powerful and easy it is to combine software plugins and hardware modelling with the current crop of amp modelling devices. The Quad Cortex makes this incredibly easy thanks to it's great touch interface and simple yet powerful signal routing. Let me know if you try this out and what results you get. Have fun everyone! Tom
You're a GENIUS and an AMAZING player:) BTW // CC# 43 Value 0-7 Scene select (A-H)
I legit thought your tuning heads are glowing green telling you its in tune , how amazing would that be!
If I recall correctly, Neural DSP stated on gear page thread that people who have the plugins will get a version to use in the QC directly... Although I am guessing this means you can use other plug ins too, which obviously some will enjoy and utilise :)
Fantastic - detailed yet digestible work in this video. Nothing went over my head except your playing. Nice work!
The level of geekery in this video is spot on! :D
Wow. Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate this, Tom. It’s a bit of an unexpected surprise.
Tom I’ve already said this. I’m not even into fusion but you are imo are the best demo guy. You get the best tone on any piece of gear. Great ear on top of great player. Cheers matey.
Absolutely Great video Tom. Thanks for the insight into what can be achieved.
I use this same exact routing from my Axe Fx into the neural plugins. It's fantastic!
are you talking about the Axe 3?
Awesome Tom, thank you for your insight, hard work and incredible info. QC should be paying you handsomely for this incredible effort. 😀
I've been looking forward to this since you mentioned it in a previous video!
Great video! Loved it!!
That Guitar Looks Amazing.
Dear Tom, honestly, ir doesn't matter what you use you Always Sound Incredibly Awesome !!! 💖💖🤗🤗🎸🎸
this SLO plugin is INSANE!!!
Good knee shot 9/10
Hey man nice knee.
Neural DSP have confirmed that you'll be able to run all their plug ins on the QC too. Beyond excited to get mine!
Does that mean you need to own the plugins aswell?
@@AngryTothGaming yeah any NDSP plug ins that you have already bought you can host on the QC, but they don’t come with it by default. And I think this will be in a future update, they’ll likely have to rewrite the plug ins to run on QC’s hardware and software rather than porting the stock plug ins.
Is it possible to dial in similar sounds with the cortex? Seems pricey if you buy 3 or 4 plug ins plus the quad cortex.
@@AngryTothGaming So to get the best tones you will need to buy the plug-ins? I don’t’ think so. How is this going to work without pissing off people who don’t already have their plug-ins? With Fractal and the others you get their best modelling when you buy the hardware.
It would be stupid not to have the plugins in the QC, it’s what made me want one in the first place..! I do not own any of the plug ins but I know they’re amazing. I will not be purchasing one of these until they incorporate the plug ins.
Pretty insane!, ndsp working on porting plug ins over. That will put QC over the top imo. Thanks Tom
I did not know you could do this! I really am thinking of going down the Quad Cortex route.
Nice video, thanks a lot!
Hi Tom, I know it’s been a few years but the Fortin Cali plugin does have a delay and reverb. But I absolutely love this technique you are doing with software running through the quad cortex, very cool. Thanks for this video 😎🎸👍
This was great. Thanks! :)
Fantastic guitar player 🎸
I’ve been waiting for mine a couple months now. What I plan on doing is just capturing my Nolly presets onto the QC.
Magician.
Ok here's why I think this is amazing - there is no delay when switching those rigs if I watch closely at around 16:20. I did not notice a single drop in volume and that's simply amazing. Not sure if it's because of the connection to the PC where that might be doing the heavy lifting but still great! I will probably give it a year until Neural figures everything out and then will switch from my kemper to QC.
As far as I have heard, there is no delay at all in scene mode or in stomp mode. Preset switching still has a delay (just like all the others), but they have said they are working on getting it as short as possible.
Tom, your playing is so effortless and awesome. Let me guess, you just started a few years ago?! Haha, great video, tones, and of course playing!
Great video. I’m not sure the helix will do this, it I’m gonna look into it. I want to quad cortex but they aren’t available yet anywhere I’ve seen. Although all you fantastic players on RUclips had no problems getting one. 😁
All the way awesome 😎
This was an incredibly helpful video. I've been using the QC as my sound interface on my macbook but today I loaded up the stand alone versions of two Neural plugins and went step by step from your video. This is an awesome set up! Have you figured out how to get effects from the QC to sit before the amps from the plugins yet?
i was wondering how to run two interface`s on windows to do this with the QC, fantastic stuff!" thank you for being awesome. Cheers dude
Please.. oh please Tom let that Silver Jubilee capture be available for purchase from you one day 😁 I actually enjoy that tone the most!!
brilliant
It would be interesting to see how you route the QC to your Apollo twin, physically and via the console for both music production but also for live streaming and recording to RUclips.
Please make a review for QC and Fractal in terms of sound quality and mostly the Tone feel on both units
Blimey , I thought that I spent too much time tweeking the nobs on a pur analog rig , but there to achieve this I need a degree on computing !
Such a great thing!!! thanks a lot for this video! Can you share your Cortex scenes with us? :)
The latency displayed is just the latency through the plugin as it is processing one frame buffer at a time: 64/48000 ~= 1.33ms. So you can see it as though the plugin is adding one frame buffer of delay to the signal path. Sample per sample, the computation of one output sample based on one input sample can probably be happening at much lower time periods but that all depends on the internal processing pipeline of the plugin!
I'd absolutely love to see Midi messages sent per scene like Tom suggested
Hi Tom, really appreciate you putting out this video for integrating hardware and software plug-ins? Could you share the presets of this video on COREX CLOUD?
Sounds pretty cool Tom and great playing! Now try a Zoom 2020 into an Ampeg Gemini 20 ;)
If you can download presets from the neural plugins you own to the QC thatd be a great future dev
Hi Tom! Excellent work. Wondering if you can one of these vid's for the Axe fx3?
Tom, you gotta tell us if we'll be able to buy that guitar!
Great video! What interface do you normally use? Would you say that if the majority of your recording would be coming via the QC it would hold up in replacement of a dedicated interface?
Neural are currently working on a quad cortex update which will make this able without having to have it open on your PC or Mac. So at some point we're going to be able to upload our Neural plugins, the Gojira Archetytpe for instance, to our Quad Cortex from what I've heard. Pretty cool if you ask me.
it's been known a year
@@lyrasimo I know, but apparently not everyone knows 😉
@Steve W. Not that I'm aware of. At least not in this segment. They have been doing a lot of updates tho: new versions, extra amps and bug fixes if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully soon!
still nothing
Very good video, but I have a question, do you use the QC as a direct audio interface or do you use it through another secondary interface? Thank you
Hey Tom ! Thanks for your great content, it surely is a light in these dark times. Hope you're doing good.
Awesome stuff. On a slight tangent.. what is that black sphere on top of the right monitor please?
Thanks a lot, Tom! You're amazing! I wonder if you could please give us the full spec on your Windows PC (I don't know if you used a PC or a Laptop), cuz I'm really interested in this setup, and I'm looking for a Windows PC that would allow me to play without latency using Neural DSP plugins. My actual PC has lot of latency and pops even at 64 samples with my interface, so I need a new PC (or a new interface, LOL)
Great video Tom! Question! What if want to put down my guitar for a minute and use QC as an audio interface and just listen to music from my Macbook via Spotify, Apple Music or on youtube? Can I do that? Is it just a matter of keeping it connected to my mac via USB, having monitors connected to the two XLR outputs and having the QC turned on?
Is it possible to get a diagram for cable routing for an Axe 3 to Audio interface to a Mac for this setup please?
So can i just put my archetype plug ins in quad cortex (with the computer) and play it live without the laptop connected?
Great video Tom, I have a question about your 3900x as I’m coming to a point where an upgrade is needed due to some large studio one projects. How are you finding studio one to utilise the 3900x? Is it a worthwhile upgrade from in my case a 7700k? I see videos from people benefitting from the 3900x in other daws but seen nothing in the realms of studio one. Maybe even a video would be great to see from you about it. Show how many gojiras you can get running in there or something 😄
I’ve been doing this with helix native and fm3. So at home I can use as many amps as allowed with native and fm3 at the same time
Fantastic video and ridiculous playing as always Tom. Can you simply capture the plugins into the QC?
Instead of having this option could you still capture NDSP plugins onto the QC?
How would you route DI from PC to QC to capture... would you still have to mic up a cab?.. For instance NTS Suite plugin? Great video🤘 thanks
Is it possible to load a backing track on to a USB and play it through the quad cortex?
I thought the washers on your tuning machines were matched to your guitar's body color. That would be sick!
I use the effects from Neural DSP with my Revv D20.
Can you tell us something about your noise gate settings. There are no noises in that high gain settings but they are sound so clear and aren’t cuttet by a gate. Or are these the pickups and electrics of your guitar?
What’s the best way to connect it to the DAW? How do you connect it to your sound interface, let’s say an Apollo Twin?
Cool vid man! does this theory apply to third party plugins?
can’t you pitch shift before the amp with this setup?
Great video! I am definitely going to try this. By the way, could you capture your Silver Jubilee with these settings?
Lead
Presence: 5
Bass: 7
Middle: 5.5
Treble: 5
Output Master: 6
Lead Master: 10
Input Gain: 4
I cannot find a capture with these settings, so I wanted to ask, if you cannot do it, no problem. Thanks for the videos and for the help!
Excellent video and stupid question. I purchased some plug-ins how do I upload them to the quad cortex? Or do I need to capture them? Just got my neural yesterday after a six-month wait and excited to dive in.
Sort of random - but is it possible to run Neural DSP plugins through an Apollo Twin Console? They have a Unison insert but it only shows their umbrella UAD plugins as options. Any help is much appreciated.
Watching this while not even having a quad cortex.... well interesting anyways... :D
Can you load the plugins inside the QC and leave the laptop?
Hi Tom, I have been looking to purchase your guitar model seen in this video but I can't seem to find it. I only see the other natural wood color model. Where can I get this light blue model Ibanez?
Hi great video I have 2 question can I use. Y presonus studio monitors with Quad and once it arrives from Neural I do not have to buy any plugins right all will be installed. Let me know pls
I just dream of the moment when I can use the Neural DSP plug-ins straight from the QC having the same, or better, sound quality than using my computer...
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sounds great, do they offer a degree course to understand it lol
Plugins sound better than captured amp. If they keep cranking those out what will be the incentive for people to grab the QC? I suppose the ability to switch presets live but you can do that with a midi pedal and PC already?
You say you switch the plugins by setting the volume of their output block to zero. If you would control the level of the input block instead of the output block, you would get the delay and reverb effects to spill over when you change scenes.
You should do this running MidiGuitar on your computer.
Hello family, I love my archetype plug in from neural.
I totally understand the usb routing.
But does someone got the same idea?
I whant to save the plug in into the quadcortex. So I can take this out to gigs using only the quadcortex.
I got a big ugly heavy studio computer. Its imposible for me to take this and keep this plug to USB.
Have a great day!
If only you could outsource the processing of the Neural DSP plugins to the Quad Cortex I would buy the damn thing. Neural DSP should make an audio interface with DSP to handle their plugins.
Good video - I learned something.
Hardware question though. What stand is Tom using to hold the Neural DSP? I want to use mine as my audio interface, mounted at shoulder level whilst sitting - so I'm looking for such a way to mount it. Thanks in advance.
Looks like a regular musicsheet stand?
Hi Tom...I had a questions...I hope you can help me
I want purchase a quad cortex or fractal FM3....can you say to me why is you choice? (I think your choice is neural right?
And the second question...is the quad cortex a brutal rock & roll machine because I have a pod hd but really don't like it
Can you help me please!!....your friend from Mexico!!
Sorry if this came up before, I just joined the channel. That looks like your signature on the headstock of that guitar. The new AZ series with the different pickups and rosewood board, right? Any idea when it's going to market?
Never mind, I found the older videos on the guitar.
Can I buy it from you?
can you just download them into the device?
This seems really cool, but it also seems like a cabling nightmare.
Put your guitar close to speakers with your pickups and record it playing metronome. You will see the peaks should be at the start of the tact , should be no shift of clicks
Could you also plug in a real Amp at the top of that chain too? Run it through the quad cortex and still do all what you did with the computer plugins as well? I imagine that signal chain looking like a hot wheels track.
Yes
My question is, what's your routing like?
Guitar to Quad Cortex? What else?
1,3 ms is unreal. The gearslutz have a thread with low latency for the audio interfaces. The lowest is 2,5 ms for the top one.
1 ms is equal to 30 cm distance for speed of sound.
Instead of running them both together couldn't you use the QC to model a setting you like from a VST, or would that extra layer of modeling be too far gone? Just thinking that would be ideal for gigs, as the last thing I want to do is bring a computer to a club, haha.
Absolutely!
Man Phil Anselmo plays guitar so damn well
Have you tried making Neural Captures of the plugins? 🤔
i tried it with my fav presets and it works fine...they are a bit different though(a bit tweaking required)
Guitar with white pearloid pickguard in the background... specs?!? 😍
That's a very early Ibanez AZ Prototype. Exactly the same specs as the production model but with higher output pickups.
Ibanez az2204
We meet again, Gordon Kneeman.
Haha!
Not sure your Affiliate links are working, Tom. At least not the ones to Sweetwater. Cheers.
It is a great idea to use $2500 device as midi footswitch for plugin worth $150
It's cool but be better and less brain power once Neural just let us use the plugins with our quad cortex. My brain can't be arsed with this. The Slo does indeed kick ass.
PC race master race
W...why??????
That's cool.. but their plugins cost over $100usd each... That's an expensive way to add new amps.
The ultimate in snobbery.
I thought that was a original 59 LP, to a Klon, into a Dumble?
How stupid is it that with all that DSP power those amps aren't already inside the Neural DSP Quad Cortex at the same quality and detail???
