Love the 4 colour coin buttons! Looks stellar! And yes I'd put the acrylic to protect it, or you could spray clear laquer the hell out of it, being very careful not to get runs. Artwork looks amazing from pics you showed too! I'm running 12 volt led buttons on my Arcade! Super bright! Those custom Atari balltops are frigging awesome!
I buillt my arcade 12 years ago. I just changed from a pc to raspbery pi. So I am getting back into it. I also layed out my eject butons and joysticks for gauntlet player colors. I also used car speakers and they sound awsome
Looks great, Andy! You did a great job sanding the ball top. If you wet-sand it you should be able to get it shiny without paint. I like your idea of letting usage wear it down and I think you're right - it will probably get smooth over time.
Looks great Andy. However, for sure go with the acrylic just looks better and dont worry about thickness of the panel you can cut recessed slots for the controllers and buttons and lastly to top it off you should add models paint in the Atari logos same as coin buttons to color match.
@@AndysArcade haha and drilling that dam acrylic without splitting it. I mean you could always add acrylic down the line if you see any problems :) i cant wait til the end product but then itll be all over😂
I suspect those logo's that your viewers rejected are transparent when peeled off. I wonder if this is why they were suggested as a better option. Are you aware they are not yellow backed and probably transparent?
Andy it looks great... The yellow don't look all that bright... I tried leds bulbs and didn't like them myself I went back to a normal bulb what is more brighter.
Mine doesnt have accrilic (sp?) but how much will it be used. is not in a proper arcade with lots of people playing constantly. Mine is 10 years old. I have countertop laminate on it and its fine. I think you will be fine without it. it depends on how much it will be played. Being that its in your place with a few people as oposed to hundreds playing im not sure you will need it. but also if it does start to were it will add character and make it feal old and we all like to live in the past otherwise why do this
It's coming along good but I'm looking for some buttins/switches and can't seem to find them...do you know where I can find the on and off buttons and the volume slide buttons that's on the arcade 1 up? Or the proper name of them?
Hi Andy , im looking to build a pc arcade with Hyperspin , how did u deal with power on /off on this gauntlet pc build? . did u set pc to auto boot on power on ? or did u extend power switch on pc to exterior panel.?
@@AndysArcade yes Andy thanks for that , my issue now is finding a full height cabinet that i like , I dont have man cave to cut and rout my own ;( favourite at mo is the bitcade but im considering the sit down one with a big tv in it for maximum wife annoyance ;)
@@AndysArcade Ok I have ordered he BItcade cyclops 27" in white, Im going to design the artwork myself , does anyone have any good links for inspiration, I want to keep the main colours to be white and chrome to be a bit different
@@AndysArcade the 360 sticks look great , I presume they act like an analogue thumbstick on a console controller , but look and feel like arcade stick. I noticed that u can get octagonal gates , have u tried these?
Job well done. The coin rejects look awesome. 😃
Great work Andy! - Yes I would put the acrylic on the control panel unless your CPO is made of the high grade stuff that stand a beating.
Wow Andy them lights set the machine off, its brilliant... i wanna play it !
it is sooo satisfying when the coin mechs work! it makes it feal real! kinda a tactile fealing if you know what i mean

I go with acrylic on, also could you not use 12mm mdf or 16mdf for the control panel ? :)
