So I also have the new legacy cabs. Based on what I see in how the Player 1 button is used...disabling it is not much of an option. You need it to exit the game as on older cabs, just via a menu pop up. Most likely will have to run a coin door in parallel to the player buttons on the new legacy cabs or put the P1 button just inside the coin door for ease of access. Let me know what you find out!

@@BrianMiller-f5v LEDs last a long time on paper. But if one does go out, you can put new LEDs in. No need to buy a new door. I have bought doors that had light sockets and some just hard wired. I haven't lost any LEDs yet.
Thanks for the question! So the two player cabs are slightly different. The primary difference is the button mapping. On 4 player cabs, you don't need the player 1 button to enter a game from the main menu (you can use the action buttons). However on two player cabs (at least all the ones I have), the player 1 button is required to help launch any game from the main menu (you cannot use the action buttons). So disabling the player 1 button is not advised unless you move that button to a hidden location like inside the coin door (where you can access it).

Hey Frank! So regardless if you are online or offline...adding a credit to the game is using the same core concept. Regardless if you are online or offline...it still requires one quarter per quarter of basketball. You do have the option of loading up four quarters out of the gate to "pay for the full game". I do recommend folks doing this mod to add a simple way to turn the coin requirement on/off such as a switch just inside the coin door. It really depends on how you intend to use it. Mine is quite casual...so keeping quarters handy is not a problem.
Nine Scorpions thanks! good to know I like your idea I was thinking of making a pcb to do this without a physical switch if possible if it’s worth it one more thing: when you press all 4 buttons on yours for the 5 second till it goes back to menu does that add another one player credit and is start used for anything else?
@@frankstrasser6108 so under my setup, yes...holding all four buttons for 5 seconds does two things. It takes you back to the main menu, but immediately when you press all four it grants a credit to player 1. If you want to remove this "cheat"...then I would propose you put a button inside the coin door. That way you can easily access to get back to the main menu (with a long press), but no one can bypass player one coins by pressing all four buttons. Multiple ways to go about this.
Nine Scorpions ok so I assume that since start on the arcade1up both goes thru menus and adds credits there’s no way to disable adding a credit if you want to go back to the menu or use the start button even with a switch?
@@frankstrasser6108 so NBA Jam is a bit unique in this regard. After the game is booted...you can enter any of the three games by pressing action buttons. You technically don't need to use P1 button to get into the game. So the limitation on NBA Jam is how to get back to the main menu. However, this is not the case on most 1up cabs. To my knowledge, all of the two player cabs require the P1 button as part entering the game (examples being Final Fight, PacMan, BurgerTime, etc). On those cabs, if you disable P1...then you cannot even get into the game without inserting a quarter (yeah, that is not gonna fly). The only other cab I own that this does not happen is TMNT (again four player). On my Final Fight cab...I only have the coin door in parallel to the P1 button. You can only completely bypass P2. The only true way to go all the way around this is to put a raspberry pi in your cab. In those cases, you can control the config to access games and you are not restricted to 1up configs.

Hi Pablo! Thanks for your comments! I am glad you liked it. So for those that don't want the full functionality, I have seen two methods used. It will be a bit difficult to put your buttons into the doors I have as they are made of iron.
