  • Not trying to grind as hard as I have the past couple of weeks I decided to come back to Bedok Jetty for a couple hours of easy fishing. No hiking up mountains. No balancing on rocks as the surf crashed at my feet. No working heavy lures through fast water. Just standing on the pier and dropping shrimp.
I had the goal of catching a single new species for my lifelist, but honestly I would've been content just getting some action. The day ended up better than I could've imagined with two new species showing up, a yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) and a banded silver biddy (Gerres shima). I would've loved one, two just makes it that much better.

“3 weeks of fishing all day is wearing me out….gonna take it easy today…and do some more fishing.”😂 Love it. You’re a diehard angler, my friend. Those little pink ear emperor looks so neat. The Tuskfish look like the sleep in a coffin and hate garlic. Beautiful location and catches, as always. The drag on that reel sounds excellent.

Haha thanks. Just want to make sure I make the most of my time and money. I might never be able to make it back to this part of the world.

Agree with your comments about "catching 100 species". So far, from community driven catch records, I have collated 216 species (many more not recorded yet) of fishes caught using hook and line. I'm only on 58 species, but definitely trying to get more!

Where did you record the 216 species from?

@@TheFishingNomad It's a project I made. However, RUclips refuses to let me share the link or how you can get there lol. My replies get auto-deleted all the time

Nice day fishing! As you mentioned it can be fun to just put yourself in a spot where there are potential lifers but also a lot of variety that you don't know what will bite. We fish pier/jetty fish using a dropper loop above a weight. Do you feel that you have better sensitivity and hookups using that sliding sinker rig?

I don't know about better sensitivity, but I was mainly trying to catch some bottom dwelling species. I tried to get my bait as close to the bottom as possible here which the dropper rig wouldn't really allow me to do.
