Great video. I feel the same way about my Sailfish. Love these size and class of boats. You got a real nice rig. Agree totally when you say got to pick your days. Hate getting beat up. 👍.
Thanks for a great video- we are over in the panhandle looking to upgrade our offshore boat! This was a big hep. heading over to the motor performance video now!
I took a closer look at these boats and really love the hulls. The bow entry reminds me of a Moppie. There seems to be lot of boat under the water line. Probably the reason for that good ride.
Great assessment. I love my 25 t and the couple small cons you addressed have been fixed on ours (2021). I would still rather have your style console though
have the same boat, agree with you on a great all-around boat. Can play with the big boys on nice day and great inshore . I use the live as a fish box ,will hold a couple nice tuna and dolphin .
Great boat captain. Just found your channel. Looking to downsize from a 31 Center console and yours is on my list. Curious on your thoughts about the fuel tank issue’s Contenders have? Also what is your range on full tanks
@@doug2202 I haven’t heard of any real fuel tank issues, I’m sure it will have to be replaced some day, (they all fail). Mine is a 2005, purchased New in 2009, it was a leftover sitting in a storage building. Range, I’m not really sure? The tank is 175 gallons which is more then enough to go spend the day-night in the canyon.
@@doug2202 One way out of Ocean City to the grounds is 55-65 miles, troll all day alternating engines 8-12 hours then back in, I’ll burn 75-80 gallons. That’s cruising between 33-40mph both ways.
I was never a fan of Contender until I had personally fished all other big name boats. In all honesty, a Contender doesn’t really have that “sexy lines” appeal like other builders. SeaVee, Yellowfin, Cape Horn, Fountain, Donzi, Onslow Bay, etc, are all superior rides. They all have their pros and cons. In my opinion and for what I do, Contender is by far the best for me. You can’t go wrong in a Contender.
Truly an Icon and defining its name as one of the top offshore boat.
I agree! 👍

boat is a beast!
Great video! Really enjoyed seeing examples of the pros and cons of the boat. What year is the hull?
It’s a 2005, I got it new in 2009. It was a leftover that sat in a building for 4 years when I found it. That’s a whole other story.

@@spinfish1434 what is your typical round trip canyon run including trolling, night time chunking etc

Great stuff, still running the mirage props? If so what diameter and pitch if you don’t mind.
Imagine waxing a 60’ Carolina boat with 2’ of flare lol
