Why not finish out with epoxy? Why use vinyl ester at the end? You would think epoxy is better vs water intrusion and strongwr bond?

I followed the tutorial this weekend and got 6 new rod holders installed on my 25 open! I used a dremmel to route the hole a little bigger and then use 4200 fast-cure to seal the newly exposed core material & in the bolt holes! This was really helpful!

Hi , great videos on replacing the transom. I have a 13 ft. Whaler that's pulling away at the transom but not that bad. The transom seems to be solid still. I know that's where the deck and hull are put together. On Continuous Wave they refer to it as the green line or "The Weld". I was wondering if you had any idea on fixing it where it's coming apart possibly using West System 610 or should it be wrapped over like you guys did after you replaced the transom ? Any help would be appreciated very much. Thanks

That looks like a Montauk but what year is it? Because I was always wondering when the transom changed from flush to that little kick out like your boat. And beautiful job by the way I am currently restoring a 1975 Montauk hence my question and it’s not waterlogged, but I do want to redo the transom

I took a closer look at these boats and really love the hulls. The bow entry reminds me of a Moppie. There seems to be lot of boat under the water line. Probably the reason for that good ride.

Your videos have helped me tremendously. I re skinned my whaler transom, all the original thru-hull and bolt holes got covered by the glas and filler, any suggestions for drilling thru the new skin and hitting the existing holes dead on? Tried dremmel but i ended up boring into the wood and elongated my first try. Thanks again.

I inherited an ‘84 15’ console with a 60hp Merc from a buddy of mine that passed way too early. It needs a transom and tons of other love but I did take it on the Puget Sound and clocked 42mph with myself, 5gal of gas and a 6 pack. 40mph is more than fast enough on a boat this size. Cant wait to do to mine what you did to yours. The removable front seat is an absolute must.

Is that worth "saving/rescuing" something like that is it just to far gone i know at a bare minimum the electronics and engines and generators are worth some money if the engine room hasn't been under water the entire time which they probably has been because the engine rooms are usually towards the aft/stern really is sad

You should pick that up ( tow it ) and restore it!

Those simple sunshade tops can get expensive, that's a good buy. That fabric will hold up fine, sometimes if it gets too much air pushing up under it, it can get a little stretch in the middle though. Good job!
