Great refurb. Own an all original trailer garage kept 1987 15 super sport with a Mercury Classic Fifty 2 stroke. Yes it’s a bit smoky but the boat turns head at the ramp and beaches here in the south Chesapeake. Mahogany is a labor of love but a good winter project. Merc parts are getting more difficult to locate so considering the 4 stroke upgrade. Thanks for the performance data on the F70.
I really appreciate these videos. I’m rebuilding an ‘85 15’ Super Sport that’s been in my family since it was purchased new. It’s been baking outside for several years and needs new power, interior, and general TLC. I’ll be following along with your videos, and might even start my own series. Thanks for the content!
That’s Awesome! Yes, definitely checkout the series, you might get some ideas. Do some videos too and never sell it, it’s a heirloom! Thanks for the comment.
Great job on the rebuild. If I was about 15 or 20 years younger I would probably take on a project like this one. But I'm not so I'm buying a new Montauk 150 next month. And yes, they put the battery in the console, I checked.😊
Whalers are great boats, always have been, popular starter boats when I was young. Nice to see Annapolis from the water, probably know already but "Winning Drive" is owned by Steve Biscotti, owner of the Ravens. Did a lot of work for them on that yacht. Captain is awesome.
I was all fired up to buy a for sale 15 footer until I saw you and your pal motoring along shoulder to shoulder. I'm gonna pass on it and stick with my Menemsha. I did want to say I enjoyed your video series.
Nice looking rig. My only question would be why not move the wiring for the Nav lights to the console side? Could do away with that entire run of wire and loom snaking around the splash well and everything?
Good question and I probably will in the future. To do it right, I would’ve had to remove the rub rail and run the wiring underneath it from the bow light then down on the starboard side. Then through the side directly into the console. Im also pretty sure I would have to replace the original rub rail as once removing it, it wouldn’t have gone back together. That will be a future project along with a small clear windshield on the side console in a up coming video. Thanks for watching!
@@spinfish1434 I pulled mine, which was about 25 years old, to run a new wire and it went back together pretty well. Yours should be good since it looks to be in pretty good shape. I heard sorry stories about them, but mine went back on somewhat simple with just me and some soap. Yea, that windshield will be nice. Love the console too. My next project will be exactly like this build, striper console and all. Gonna change up the rear bench a bit to be more like the later 13' GLS since it rides higher and is just a more comfortable position. Pretty much same concept you did with the cushy seats, just different approach.
@@NattyNatural I literally just sold it to Read Fasse of FasseCo.com last Saturday. If you’re not familiar he rebuilds Whalers. I’m sure if you contact him he can make one for you from the Mold.. He’s located in Nashville TN.
@@spinfish1434 Yep, definitely aware of FasseCo! I will consider reaching out to him but may try to give it a go myself. Any chance you could share the striper console specs/dimensions?
Hi, Did you have to remove the stern lifting eyes at anytime of the rebuild? Im going to re-gelcoat entire montauk wonder if the new gelcoat might crack if i tighten new eyes to the transom. Maybe better to gelcoat around them after installation? Thanks.
Awesome to see some Maryland whaler videos. I’m starting my research to find a 15’ Montauk myself.
They’re great boats, prices are starting to come down to a reasonable amount. Subscribe more Whaler content coming.

Awesome, thanks for the update. Purchased the f70, looking forward to rigging it up on my 16 currituck.
It’s an Awesome motor, my buddy has one on his Katama and loves it.

I agree 👍. I didn’t know who owned Winning Drive that’s Awesome!
Your 13 Whaler looked like it was on Flipper with Bud and Sandy.

Love that you did the update!
Thank you, I’ll be doing more videos on this project!
Nice job on the boat captain 💯
Thank You! 👍
Great video and great boat !
Thank You!
ok. should have put a pad on the bottom! you need a bilge pump for sure! biggest one that will fit in there nice! easy. and a good prop!
No bilge pump needed, I just reach back, pull the plug, drains right out. No pad needed, she’s plenty fast as is.. 👍

That winning drive yacht belongs to the owner of the baltimore ravens
Would you consider making more consoles from the mold and selling them? It came out beautiful
I’m selling the mold cheap if you’re in the Maryland area.
@@spinfish1434 I’m in NY. How much?
@@spinfish1434 long shot but did you sell this mold already!? I'm in the process of a similar project and, like you, could not find a striper console.

No, we taped around them, they were unaffected.

Specialty Marine on the bench?

Dellquay Dory is no longer in production for a reason… If it were flawless or the best wouldn’t it still be around? 🤷♂️
You going to sell consoles?
If you’re interested, contact FasseCo.com he has the Mold.
