Great job dude, I used this video to affirm what I was doing was correct. This is the exact method I use also. Just to add a note, I use different grit from 400 to 2500 to achieve a beaut 88deg edge. Thanks for this!
Good tutorial, I'll give the flat file a try. I've always used my old orange edge tool only. Love academy boards. Went to buy my first one last year at local Reno shop (Chris Roach Masters). For whatever reason ended up with a Rome Stale Fish. Decided I still wanted an academy so went back to buy the Trix (R-for kids), but that board was sold. Arg. I will get a Propaganda at some point this year. Keep up the good work. G
You know your stuff man, just my two cents: I wouldn't use a file every time I tune because you're losing metal when you do this - eventually you could run into problems with that :) Have a look at some diamond stones for that, pretty much same result without losing much metal.
i found it hard to get flat diamond files so i started using the hand held belt sander on the side edges too.carefully.but you only need 1 or 2 passes so you can concentrate on doing the approximate 90degrees
Great video

The detune lesson is a nice tech tip for new boards….especially Capita and K2 decks.
Yeah we dont deal with those boards, but we hear you on the tip.
Do K2 boards needs to be de-tuned?
We don’t know we don’t ski
@@academysnowboardco_ It says boards not skis lol
@@shadesbro12i know just think K2 is more of a ski brand so ya know :)
Some black marker line down the edge beforehand allows one to see how much material is being removed.
Nice !!!! Thanks
Yeah buddy!!
Shouldn’t you finish with a gummy stone? To get a super sharp edge.
100% thanks!!!!
