    I have one of those. Been using it for a couple of months now. It’s an aluminum fast-back frame according to bass pro shops/cabelas where I got my combo. It’s a sturdy reel. One of my favorites so far.( until now I’ve been a Lew’s guy) It’s so smooth on the cast, the retrieval, and of course the fight with a fish on the line. I use it for my frogging and jig set up. In the end, it’s one of my favorites now. And I agree with you, it definitely gets better with continued use. It’s something that needs to be “broken in” so to say.
    Also, I love the content. Please keep ‘em coming. God Bless and hope you and yours are well.

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  2 года назад +2

      Yeah It does cast super well. I was surprised at that. I would think that it should be durable with the weight of it. hahahha. Some simple touches and this reel could be a under $100 phenom. I've never been a fan of 13's astatic what is up with them and the colors. The designers have to be blind.

      @THEXGreaverX 2 года назад

      @@BassGeek I agree. The look of it really threw me off at first. After giving it a go, I couldn’t be happier. It really was a replacement combo after one of my oldest rods broke and the warranty required both the reel and rod be exchanged. I didn’t know what to expect at first. Now I’m kicking myself for not trying other brands sooner. Now I love it. It may not be a modern looker so to say, but it’s performance matches or beats anything I’ve used this far. Even the more expensive stuff I got.

    I bought one a few months back. 2 issues though. First one was right out of the box it made a horrible squealing noise when casting. A little digging and i found that there was no lube where the spool contacts the disk on the inside of the cast control knob. Little dab of lube and no more noise and casts better. Second issue. Mine would tend to spool line a bit heavier on the reel handle side (right hand retrieve). Noticed as the cast control was tightened it would push the spool toward the brake side of the reel. Added a couple shims on the spool to make it center back up better when the cast control is tightened. Seems to have fixed the issue as well. Im a little annoyed that i had to deal with that to begin with since it really should have been right from the start. Other than that I dont have any complaints for how it performs for what it is.

It just takes a beating and keeps doing what I ask it to. I recently bought an Abu Revo SX that was meant to be an upgrade for the old silvermax. Still using the silvermax and still catching fish with it. It even makes an appearance in my wacky rig video and you can see how old and beat up it really is, lol.
    I bring all this up, because I'm wondering if the F1 has the potential to be the same sort of reel? Is it a bang for your buck reel, or merely a good budget reel? Do you feel it punches above it's weight or is just average?

    I didn't care for mine much TBH, and it really struggled with anything less then 7 on magnet brakes. And if you pop the cover in a lot of cases 2-3 clicks occasionally made zero difference at all throughout the range. If you put it on 4 it might aswell be on one and expect a backlash.
    I switched back to my cheep ass spinning reel for the day after trying to get more range out of it and backlashing in to oblivion the spinner went as far at least. Maybe further while trying to avoid backlash. With the origin F1
