I visited old coney as a kid. I loved it. Then they built King's Island and I took my own kids for years. Hate to hear of the violence that is starting to break out. Supposed to be a family entertainment place.
Great memories of watching the park come together. I've been searching for the video of the Kings Island 1976 Bicentennial Celebration from July 4th that aired on CBS and hosted by Ed McMahon. I saw it when it aired in 1976 and again from a 1 inch tape that Kings Island Live Shows Department had. Would love to view it again. Please check if it may be found in the park's archives. Thanks !
I'm just reminiscing about how empty I 71 used to be.. Edit: Anyone remember Evel Knievel jumping the busses in the kings island parking lot in 1974?!👍🇺🇸
My grandmother helped with making the mascot costumes for the Hanna-Barbera characters back then. Wish I had photos of which exact characters she worked on but she knocked it out of the park. And some time during the 90's, my mother worked here too! So there's some family history that sort of runs in Kings Island. Dad rode the river Hanna-Barbera ride back when he was a little kid, then mom rode it when it was the Smurf's ride. I rode it when it was Scooby-Doo themed. 🤗
It’s nice seeing the original workers and hearing how excited they are to build the park. I hope they’re still alive to see it today!
❤❤❤❤ this was so cool to watch

Very interesting to see how the park was when it opened. And all that uncleared land by the Racer where Area 72 is now
I wish I was born in the 60s and 70s so I can see the opening of this park
I wish I could be there in 1972, to see the new Coney Island 2.0
THIS IS MY FAVORITE PARK HELL YEAH!!!!

This is awesome. Like a time machine.
Love this !! Opened up when I was a year old!
How I miss the original Enchanted Voyage. KI needs a resort hotel on site.
This was so cool to watch! Though I must say, that 3:45 the representation of Fred Flintstone is kind of scary lol
thank you for this post!

Kings island is my favorite hometown amusement park I wish.the train that take people to the park and they cars after long day at the park
From The Funtastic World Of Hanna-Barbera era to The Good Grief World Of Charlie Brown And The Peanuts era, Kings Island sure has come along way!
So cool
I love this parrkk
"The children of today won't be able to ride a train anymore?"
Bring back this park
Seriously?!
I would be cool if Kings Island would put the model on display if they still have it.
RIP the original campground but new one looks nice[expensive].
I’m coming today
