- Paramount Pictures’ The Italian Job™ Premiered as a High-Speed Stunt Car Ride at Paramount’s Kings Island in 2005
Another Hollywood big-screen spectacular comes to life at Paramount’s Kings Island with the addition of THE ITALIAN JOB: Stunt Track™, a multi-million dollar fast-track coaster experience for 2005. Based on the high-action finale of Paramount Pictures’ The Italian Job (2003) starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Seth Green, Mos Def, and Donald Sutherland, this wild ride took families on a high-speed stunt car adventure through movie sets and scenes inspired by the film’s climatic chase sequence.
Park guests experienced what it’s like to be a Hollywood stunt driver and go behind the scenes of an action movie. Guests boarded their very own stunt car tricked out with audio special effects adding to the multi-sensory sensation of the experience. Once strapped into their custom stunt car, rubber meets the road as the cars peeled out to begin their chase sequence. Drivers twisted through a parking garage, dodged near-collisions, raced down stairs, chased through tunnels and narrowly escaped massive explosions triggered by gunfire from a menacing helicopter. Tires skidded out one last time as the stunt cars crash through a billboard and splash down into an L.A. aqueduct concluding the chase sequence and their trial as a stunt driver in this screen test!
I wish they kept the splashdown finale
Cool to see how the track was planned to be yellow!
This was my absolute favorite ride when it was new (okay every ride was at some point, but this one especially). I was about 10 years old, and anything to do with cars has always been special to me. I love that the ride is still there, but it'll never be the same again.
I've always said that the Paramount theming and special effects were on par with Disney/ Universal, and it's sad they're gone. When i was young, I was always jealous Cedar Point got the huge thrill rides, but it never occured to me at the time that Paramount didn't need a Mellinium or Dragster to draw people, and frankly, Cedar Fair would've outdone them if they tried.
Paramount stuck to what they did best - telling a story and immersing guests in the rides. Looking back, I'm greatful for those memories! And even though CF has stepped back from the huge record breakers, they're now doing a pretty good job with story telling on the new rides, so it's the best of both worlds now.
You should bring back the effects next year that would be awesome
Bring back the original effects next year!
Yes please do KI
So it diiidddd at one point have water splash at the end! That would have been fun. Also, I just loved that video, it really made it feel more amazing!
I work this ride :)
*AWESOME* 😄😆
whyd they get rid of the effects? expenses?
when they built this ride the park used to be own by paramount pictures. Once they sold the parks in 2006 they had to get rid of the themeing and effects that related to the Italian job. After the 2007 season they got rid of it due to copyright
If you listen closely to the one at kings dominion, you can here the water effect go of in the splash down but there’s no water that comes out of it.
Still a fantastic ride!
i love this ride
underrated fun ride. love some of the old effects. the splash would be fun on a hot day
I love the backlot stunt and The Italian job
bring back the effects please
I love this ride
When the pizza man needs to deliver in 30 seconds:
This was the only major coaster not open when we went for the first time in August. Oh well. We’ll get it in the future. :)
I find it funny how the engine sounds sound like their from an impreza when the cars themselves are modeled after mini coopers
Quite fun
Bring back the effects
pls Bring it back The water/is the good part about it
I think the old themes and names of rides were better… but the ride is still there… so nothing much of loss. 😊😁
Why did they get rid of the effects?
Relocated Firehawk To
Efteling and relocated Vortex To Worlds of Fun
no 💀💀💀, neither of them were relocated
What you used to get wet on this because I would have loved this
