I lost 30 lbs 16 years ago on WW. I’ve kept it off, learning that when I gain a few pounds I go back to tracking my points and holding myself accountable and lose those few lbs. Best thing I ever did for myself My body is far from perfect but I feel great at 70, and am enjoying life.

Perfect timing for me! I have lost 57 pounds since January 2019 with WW, still have 7 pounds to get to goal. I have been at this point for about 7 months. I am on the blue plan. It's frustrating but I'm determined to get there. I am 62 and have had weight problems all my life. Now that I am older it's a health issue and the aesthetic of looking better is a plus. I love salads with hardboiled eggs and bolthouse dressing for my in between. I also love frozen mixed berries with lite cool whip for a dessert. All the best!

Anyway....just want you to know that YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! INSIDE AND OUT!!! I feel your pain! I have gained 10 lbs since Christmas and although I feel like I have continued working on my weight...if I am honest I have done exactly what you said....kind of tracking in my head and being very inconsistent! Thank you for your video and honesty and just putting it all out there. It is a huge encouragement to me as one of your 50 plus year old sisters! It is a journey and after watching this I am climbing back up on the horse and getting going again. Let's do this together!!! Praying for both of us!

Thank you. This was so authentic and therefore inspirational. On the snack front-I have figured out for me that I just can't. Snack is 'crack' for me and I find I cannot stop. I have to focus on the three healthy meals a day and then add more activities/hobbies to switch my thoughts away from the food. I knit. A lot. Keeping my hands busy and focusing on the needlework does drag my thoughts away from eating. Finally, remembering my why. I am clear about it at the top of the day but as the day goes on it gets fuzzy. I need to post that where I can see it throughout the day. Changing behavior is a slog. We are all in it together. Onward!

Oh my!! Thank you so much for doing this video! I am your age, I turned 54 last May, going through menopause, and dealing with insomnia, hot flashes, & weight gain! I am at my highest weight right now, and feeling ugly and angry at myself for allowing the weight to come back! I was just whining about it to my husband before he left for work this morning! 😄 He is so very sweet and tells me I’m beautiful and everything will be fine. But nothing inspires you more than someone who is going through the same trials and understands how you feel. I appreciate so much that you are willing to be vulnerable in order to help others. I will be tuning in for motivation and to keep myself on track! God bless you!! 🤗♥️

Bobbie - The hormonal changes you're going through right now SO impact weight loss. I'm right there with you sister. It doesn't matter how much I exercise, change my eating habits etc, weight loss is much much more difficult. I've actually gained weight. The lack of sleep is just the absolute worst through menopause and is probably the hardest symptom I'm going through. I recently started HRT and it may not be for everyone, but I'll tell you girl - sleeping 8 hours a night right now which is the first time in months and months has helped me SO much - energy, focus and motivation. You're doing a wonderful job. Love your work here on RUclips. A beautiful, honest inspiration

I’m on weight watchers and I switched from blue to green because I was too generous with my “zero points.” For a zero points snack, I ate a huge bowl of cherries which should be good, but then I wondered how many calories do these cherries actually have, and I counted my pits and I ate 400 cal of cherries for a snack! So then I started logging in my fitness pal also to calculate the calories. Between the two I got myself back on track. I don’t always log my calories but if I’m eating a lot of carbs or snacking a lot, I’ll throw them back into my fitness pal to have a double the accountability. As far as sleeping, I spent almost 18 months only sleeping 4 to 6 hours at 52. Last winter I went on HRT and slept eight hours within three days! I’m 7-8 hours regularly now, HUGE difference in how I feel. Hot flashes went away in less than a week too. They put me on BiJuva, it is only one pill a day, but in January my insurance stopped covering it because it is new. So you would have to see if your insurance covers it. I have secondary that picks up and pays 75% but it’s pricey now. It used to be free😩. I will talk to my doctor on other options at my one year this fall, but I’m so sad. I’m not sure I’ll be good at patch here, a pill there, a cream here, I just like a one and done pill LOL.

Great timing for me on this video. I’m 65 now. I walk with my hubby 4 miles every other day. Had knee repairs done Nov. 2019 and still having issues. So I’ve had to slow it down to skipping a day in between. I lost 47 lbs 15 years ago. I’ve been a lifetime WW member since the 80s. I keep telling folks my halo slipped. LOL! I hate counting anything. But I’ve gained 25 lbs. back sadly. Kept it off for 8 years and then developed the creeps. I haven’t gotten the click yet to make my brain commit. But your video was encouraging. Thx so much! Good luck!

As a woman of faith, I am right there with you, Sister! At 54, I have finally come to a place where I recognize and accept that this body that I have called "mine" is really God's, and out of my love for Him, it's high time that I treat this body with respect and do all that I can within my power (ie: the choices that I make) and within His might to keep it healthy. 6 years ago I reached my high of 252, then lost 50, and by July 2020, had gained back 30. I decided to assemble a "health team" to encourage, guide, and support me in my work to get and be healthy. The healthcare system that I use offers lots of tools and support for weight loss, all covered by my insurance or at no cost at all (free seminars, classes). Linking arms with my primary care, my gyn, a dietician, and other clinical providers, and with the prayer and emotional support of my husband, I'm losing weight (down 15) and focusing on the journey and what it's going to teach me. Thank you for your channel. You provide a much-needed place on RUclips where women in their 50's (as well as those younger and older) can simply come together to be "real." I learn lots from you and am inspired by you. I'll continue to watch and pray for you on the journey! "PS: I have the EXACT same body shape as you!! I carry it all in the hips, booty, and upper thigh. So, you're not alone!" :)

Dear Bobbie, Thank you! I'm older than you, 63 in October, and in May of 2018 I decided to do something about my weight that was causing problems with my knees back etc. Now I've lost 50 pounds and I'm kind of stalled out too. I do think sleep plays apart in this, and I love to stay up at night--not good because I snack--and quarantine has done a number on that. I'm a missionary living in Albania for 25 years so simple foods are what's available. I have tons of allergies (chicken is the most frustrating when trying to lose weight), but I know that God is going to help me continue my journey! It's when I forget to pray about my appetite and food issues that I fail again. I've been doing Noom. I never thought I could eat a 1200 calorie diet, but Noom helped me and I've been doing it pretty much, but recently haven't been logging my food. I know God will help me get back to that as well. I want to say, be careful with hormone replacement. There are so many other things that that can bring on. At 45 I started menopause, and I went on hormone replacement for two years because my obgyn insisted. After that I switched doctors and got off of them, there's so many risk factors. They definitely make you feel better, but maybe there's something else that's not so risky. My biggest problem was my mood swings, so my doctor put me on Zoloft. I've now worked myself off of Zoloft too, so that's good. Maybe a prescription sleep aid would be better for you? Anyway, too many words to say, I'm with you, I'll pray for you too, and We and God got this!! Love you sister!!

You are such a beautiful woman on the inside and the outside! I am proud of you for showing the full body pics! You rock!!
I have gained 20 of the 30 pounds that I have lost. I can't wear the same clothes as I did this time last year. I struggle daily with my weight. I don't eat healthy like I use to. I want to lose the weight, but right now I just don't have the will power or energy to work at it. This covid mess is getting harder and harder to deal with along with other issues in my life right now. I need a calming peace in my life right now.

Bobbie, your beauty is very evident. When you smile, your outer beauty shines! But the sparkle you carry and exhibit is what is co contagious. I understand you struggle. I struggle too. My work is to let go of the shame. The more I do that, the more I feel encouraged and motivated to eat healthy and move. The move part is harder for me. But I know this: when I witness and rejoice in my greatness versus my weakness, I am capable of so much more. Be you, because, it’s pretty great!

It sounds as if you have pin pointed some valuable areas to work on and have been honest with yourself. But as one who is at the very end of Menopause, give yourself some grace. Realize that, keep exercising, try and eat right and don’t give up. 💗

Then my company closed my store and found me a disappointing but full time job at a significant paycut... trust me I know I'm lucky to have a job. It derailed me. I am in my late 50's and I lost over 60 pounds with Slimming world (Loved this Program!) but needed a new program to follow when they closed down their US Branches. I still have over 160 pounds to lose to get to my ultimate goal. I tried WW. I tracked my calories on WW and found the point system did not match proper amount of calories. I was not taking in enough calories and was starving. My weight loss stalled and then I gained back 12 pounds. I have also tried fasting but that also worked for only a short time. I was introduced to Jordan Syatt here on you tube and he has helped me a great deal in understanding calories. I now Count calories and decided not to weigh myself for 90 days. I became scale obsessed and found myself getting so depressed. I have learned the scale is not always a great way to evaluate my progress as I have lost inches and my clothes have dropped in size without that showing on the scale. I have broken my weight loss journey down to a manageable goal now and I have adjusted my calorie intake to reflect that. Current goal weight (not ultimate goal weight) x 12 is the amount of calories I eat in a day. I discovered that needing to lose a large amount of weight will be a long process and quick weight loss has never been sustainable for me. I have a lot of weight to lose but because of that I don't have to starve myself. The lower my weight goes my calorie intake will need to decrease but I am not hungry now and I see the results in my clothes and the way I move and feel. I have finally come to terms that it is a lifestyle change and slow and steady progress is okay. The most important change is there is no longer the feeling I am a failure. Thanks for sharing this as weight loss is so different for everyone and we need to find what works best.

Oh Bobbie, I so relate to you and you talk about it so smartly. I lost 35 lbs in 2018, of the 100+ that I needed to lose and once I found my zone, it was easy, I wasn't deprived, I felt so good, I knew I could do that forever so it wasn't going to be a big deal to give myself a break. Well here we are, 2 years later and in that two years, both of my kids got married, one bought a house, a couple relatives have died, I changed jobs completely and spur of the moment, I'm the caretaker of my 93 year old mom who has dementia, pandemic, forest fires, my husband is without a job and my dog is dying. There are all my excuses and I'm sure there are more but none of them are the reasons that I gained every one of those 35 lbs back. This week I went back through my food diary from when I was losing, I've gone back and looked at all the writing I did during that time. I am getting back to meal planning and have cut out fast food. It's not luck and I can do it.

I'm so sorry about all your stress Bobbie! I've trained and disciplined myself not to eat snacks I'm 63 and the weight gain continues...it just does. This habit of eating is a habit, and it's a huge needy thing. I have to stop at two meals a day now.... and I'm 189 at 5'9" tall which is still not at my goal weight....but my thoughts and what really stood out was the coffee connection and no sleep. I drink one cup and I think that over two or three it might have an effect on your sleep along with the stress. If you are in peri menopause all this will effect your circadian rhythm. You look lovely by the way! Also I wanted to compliment your hair!!!! Please know that everything you stated is sooo true! I appreciate!

I eat healthy and walk 10,000 steps a day. I found a gentleman on you tube that does easy walking exercise routines and that has been such a help. His name is Paul Eugene. Bobbie you are such a blessing! Thanks for your honesty, optimism and encouraging posts! The struggle is very real for lots of us! Never tried WW..the whole points thing seemed like one more thing I'd have to keep up with! What did work for me was cutting out all sweet things.... sweet tea, ice cream, cookies, cake, pie, candy - anything with sugar, even yogurt, which has tons of sugar! I'd look at the sugar content on labels and if it was less than 5 grams per serving it was a possible if I really wanted it. Sort of a diabetic diet without the diabetes. And drank as much water as I could stand! That was it! I still ate bread, too. No exercise other than daily chores and work... In 12 months I lost 40 lbs! At 1st it was so gradual I didn't even notice....then one day my clothes started getting looser, then someone asked me if I had lost weight? I started out wanting to eat healthier and feel better, and wound up with a wonderful blessing! Like you, I have plateaued... I'd love to drop 15 more to be at my old weight that I was happiest. I'll be in prayer for both of us to "finish the race"!

thank you for your honesty and openness in sharing your journey; menopause really does have an effect on us and how we feel and sleep; I’m 51 and earlier this year had an epiphany when I hit my heaviest weight - I hadn’t been that heavy since the day I gave birth; I felt awful, was dealing with depression; I realized diets weren’t for me, I fall off them way too easy (have done WW several times and tried other methods); a friend suggested I try intermittent fasting and it has changed my life; that’s all I do, the 16:8 method, and since April 1 I’m down 26.5 lbs, not a huge loss but a steady and sustainable one; I still enjoy pizza and the occasional dessert but I eat regular food, just more healthy stuff, and I don’t count calories; I don’t snack at night anymore and have become used to not having breakfast, cut sugar out of my tea/coffee too; and my sleep has pretty much gone back to normal; my menopause journey is now done thankfully though the hot flashes still hit me, I think losing the extra weight really helped; I am looking to lose 25-30 more, and I know I’ll get there eventually

I lost about 115 lbs but have gained a lot of it back. I am back on track and have lost over 30 lbs in 3 months on a good eating programme that has all the food groups in specific proportions. I weigh my portions of carbs, proteins, fats and fruit serves, as cannot estimate the amount Im allowed. My favourite saying when the weekends or holidays come round, "A week has 7 days not 5" and I tell that to myself if I find myself floundering. Weighing and measuring my portions is very very easy and takes hardly any effort, but it keep me disciplined from early morning to late at night (including weekends). I also write the portions down, as like you say, its difficult to keep it just in your head. I have small achievable goals that I keep reaching all the time. For me the final goal, is too far away and is not encouraging. You are an inspiration, love your honesty, its such a help for your viewers.

I’m right there with you. I love food & eat too much. I recently switch from the Blue Plan to the Green Plan because I felt I was eating far too large of portions and lots (too much) zero point foods. I’ve also felt frustrate & strangled with stress during the pandemic. I trying hard to get it back together.

Great video! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to diminish your feelings about your weight gain. I have been there. On April 1, 2018, I joined WW and within 6 months I lost 65 pounds and now, gradually I have gained 50 of it back! So your weight gain is relatively small and you can turn this around. I have really done a lot of soul searching about why I let this happen. I remember the day when my momentum came to a screeching halt. I was in the bathroom at work and there was a full length mirror on the door. When I came out of the stall, I saw myself in that mirror and this unsettling sense of fear came over me. I saw that my body really was changing and for some reason it scared me. You would think I would be happy about it, right? But sometimes I believe maybe we use our weight as a shield or a big blanket we wrap ourselves up in against the world. I also think change is hard, even good change. It’s scary. What is this new life going to be like? Are people going to expect things out of me now? What is going to happen? It just brings anxiety with it that you don’t think about when you first start out. You just think oh I’m going to lose this weight and I’m going to look so good and I’m going to feel great and everything is just going to be so wonderful! And it is wonderful but when you have a lot of weight to lose like I do (130 pounds total) you aren’t prepared for all of the emotions that can crop up. So, last week I saw a shoulder surgeon for my shoulder that I injured in a car accident we were in last December. Surgery is scheduled for the 29th. I realized it is going to be tough to get around in a sling with this extra 50 pounds! So over this past weekend I recommitted to WW. I recommitted to tracking. I visit Connect everyday and I’m trying to get my water in. For exercise, I’m just doing the exercises they gave me to keep my shoulder range of motion good and a little bit of stretching to keep me limber all over. I wanted to tell you when I first started on my weight loss journey, I was reading one of those fitness gurus, can’t remember which one, and he said that weight loss is 80% diet 20% exercise so I focus on what I eat. I also wanted to say that I never really ‘quit’ WW through my whole 50 pound gain believe it or not. It was always in the back of my mind. I refused to quit paying my monthly fee for the online program because then I knew I was giving up. I had so many things happen to me over the last year and a half. My mom died, I lost a couple of jobs, had to get new ones, had family troubles, the car accident, but I was using all of that as an excuse. I soothed myself with food instead of finding constructive ways to deal with my stress. So that is my challenge. Dealing with emotional eating. Best of luck in your journey. Maybe we can walk the path together!

You are adorable and beautiful, sweet lady!! I did WW a few years back but was always hungry. When I switched to keto it was a game changer for me. Your hunger and cravings will diminish greatly and if you must have a snack just eat a low carb food. Everyone is different but it sure did work for me!! I’m 59 and have kept the weight off for several years with little hunger and cravings. WW used to have a low carb plan, not sure if they still do or not!?! Love you videos. You are so beautiful inside and out (I told you before I LOVE your smiling eyes and gorgeous teeth- could watch you talk all day!). I have a bit more to lose than you and a few yrs on you- 59. I'm using the Lose It app and love it! I've found so many great tips and insight through youtubers (including you). One major theme is consistency. And now that I'm applying that along with your outcome planning video, which really gave me a breath of fresh air regarding goals, things are hopeful instead of despair inducing and I have a healthy relationship with food again instead of severe food anxiety. I'm on this journey right with you! We've got this!! Thanks Bobbie 💗 God is so good!

I’m a new subscriber after searching for videos on stocking stuffers a few days back and was delighted when I can across this video today. You are not alone. It’s not easy maintaining a weight loss. I agree with you, it’s a journey and it will be lifelong. Finding our “why?” beyond the desire to just be skinny is paramount. I’ve found that I have less migraines and inflammation in my joints when I eat healthy, whole foods. The other thing, although it sounds silly, is that when I’m feeling weak and thinking about a specific dessert, I compare the wanting of that food to my favorite outfit in my much smaller wardrobe. Every time, I find the favorite outfit outweighs the temporary desire for the dessert.

You have inspired me to start a reasonable weight loss journey. I stopped trying all the quick tricks, supplements, and buying every diet book out there. Atkins had worked for me in the 70’s. But I couldn’t sustain it. WW hadn’t been the answer for me after two tries, decades apart. Tried Keto. Tried EVERYTHING. I’ve been plant-based for 5 weeks and plan to do this for LIFE. I’m never hungry. I don’t count anything. I love all the real food. But I credit your honesty and beautifully positive attitude for helping me get real about ME. So I’m down 7 effortless lbs so far, with 50 to go.

I know we shouldn't blame everything on the pandemic BUT speaking for myself, it's been a stressful (almost) seven months. Now, I don't gain weight when I'm stressed; I lose weight. I've been eating but throughout my life my metabolism seems to speed up when I'm upset. My husband and I both lost family in April and we live in the city that was the epicenter of the virus. There's also been unrest in our area so all that adds up to my losing a few pounds. My cousin, on the other hand, has been on WW for a while and lost 80 lbs. and is off insulin. Wishing you the best Bobbie and God bless.

I gained weight in my early 50s during menopause. I lost 30+ pounds on keto in 2018. My 21 year old daughter died of COVId in June 2020 and I’ve been eating a “regular” diet. I am back where I was before I went on the weight loss journey. Keto isn’t safe for long term. It literally created cardiac issues that I never had. It was unhealthy even though it was effective for weight loss. I think you may have inspired me to try WW. My problem is that I get obsessed with food the minute I start counting calories or points

Hi. I started a keto diet 14 months ago and have lost just about 60 pounds. I’m 65. I found that cutting the carbs and upping the fat caused me to feel satisfied after a meal and it somehow allowed me to actually completely forget about eating until a regular meal time. This was easier than weight watchers because it’s necessary to cut out completely large groups of food. I wish you luck on your journey.

However, I have gained the weight back both times because I hated writing down points. I’m sure my portion size gradually increased. I also was tired of going to meetings each week. I joined the online WW a week ago because they had a special offer for two months. I wanted to use the online program, but I haven’t taken the time to check the website. Try Greek yogurt mixed with a little bit of cocoa powder and some splenda or the flavored Stevia drops. One whole cup is three points. I never eat that much. 3/4 cups or less is two points. The little cups you can buy are either 5nor 6 oz, so two points. This is VERY filling, and also nutritious and good for you. You can also top it with fruit and fat free Reddi Whip. My favorites are bananas, strawberries and pineapple. This feels like a big indulgence!

Hi Bobbie! I lost 56lb on Freestyle last year in ten months, regular, good weekly losses. In October 2019, I elected to have my ovaries removed as I am a breast cancer survivor but have a faulty BRCA1 gene, I’ve lost many female relatives to it so it was a no-brainer. However, it threw me into menopause and has vastly slowed my weight loss journey. I gained 14lb in the first four weeks of lockdown (but I ate for my country-I was aware of what I was doing but still carried on). Those 14lb have been SO resistant to being shed and I’d love to be 140lb (UK 10st) it’s just not happening. I’ve continued to weigh and track, changed between 💙💚💜 every few weeks to see if something ‘clicks’ but so far to no avail 😞. I think some soul searching and planning is a must on my part. Surely the operation I had can’t affect me THIS much!?! I really wish you all the very best with getting back on track and shifting the weight xx

I admire your honesty, ability to take responsibility and your energy. Your outlook is contagious and inspiring. I want to give you something to think about. Of the 7 pounds you gained back, it could be muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat. If you have been biking since May, you are creating more muscle mass. The scale isn’t always telling the full story.

I do think you are right to a point. I wish I could blame it all on that but sadly, at least half is me. The good news is I’m back on track and healthier from the biking. 💕

I lost 50 this last year, and then the stress eating commenced. My husband has been in the hospital six times since November, Three heart procedures, and the scary unknown. My daughter was in the hospital at Christmas. Son ruptured his ear drums twice. Both kids moved, and started new jobs. (We moved them) Helped my daughter get her first classroom as a teacher set up. Helping my mom, care for my dad with Stage 4 Parkinson's, keep our essential business up and running, cleaning, laundry, dishes, and let's not forget Covid. Needless to say, I have gained 17lbs back. Ugghhh!

Oh my goodness! You have had so many things to deal with! I am so sorry! Stress really can do a number on us. You have every right to give yourself grace. Please take care of you while you are taking care of everyone else.

Thank you so much for your authenticity and vulnerability. This video has been so incredibly helpful and encouraging to me. My Granny used to say "you dig your grave with your fork" - she was right, of course and I need to get this all figured out once and for all, and begin that overwhelmingly long journey to better health. I did it once 20 years ago and I need to do it again (which really, really sucks!).
I used WW back in the late 90's, but it boggles my poor brain these days. I've just ordered the Fast800 books, because the seem to be a good fit with what I know works and doesn't work for me. The infamous words of our Prime Minister when people were panic buying toilet paper etc in March - "Stop it!" I need to just stop it and get on with getting healthier!!

This is your most beautiful video. I love your truth and honesty and the real life story too. Often I find you tubers are all too perfect and I feel that I can’t follow them because their lives are so perfect and they don’t suffer stress or have problems. I really appreciate your photos and your telling us your story. I hope your husband gets sorted out with a good job that he loves and pays the bills and that you all stay safe and well.

Thank you Marian! I agree! If someone's life looks too perfect all that does is make me feel stressful that I must be doing something wrong. Thank you for your encouragement.
